@Jump_Ace, with the latest stable of cars coming today, which one(s) are you looking forward to tuning the most?

I haven't even looked at the new cars yet. I still owe y'all 4 cars :lol: It's been crazy at home lately. The wife's car got stolen last weekend and we happened to find and recover it. But it needs some repairs. So....soon?

I made the mistake of driving on SSRX with an Integra. It was kind of boring, but at least the scenery was nice. This track will definitely appeal to tuners messing around with top speeds and drag racers, but I can't see the appeal for actual races.

Great tune. Very well balanced. The Dragon Trail tune works as advertised for "large" tracks. The only change I would suggest is that a break balance of 5 (either front or back) looks like a typo. I set it to -1 and that felt like it did the trick. Keep up the good work.

Do you think any of your previous tunes will need to be re-worked due to the updated physics model?

A couple of them may be unavoidable, but my time to race has been nill recently.

Is there a tuning guideline somewhere that explains GTS tuning in a general sense? Its not like GT6. I'm new and need some general ideas of what these do.
(No more spring stiffness?) (LSD always confused me :) )

Lastly, this is a truly fantastic read if you really want to get into the weeds on tuning and learning about car dynamics and composition, etc. The tuning part is gold, the rest is whipped cream :lol:

Here's a few tuning tips for GT Sport, in general:
- Be honest when tuning, did you miss the turn, or is the car really that horrible to drive?
- Pay attention to what the car is doing, and WHEN. How does it behave braking and entering a turn? In the middle of a turn? Exiting, does it spin when you press the gas? Remember, some cars you can't just floor it on exit even with the best tune in the world.
- If you are looking to floor it and drive 'sloppy', lower the weight and reduce HP, likely both.
- Take your time when tuning, ESPECIALLY at first. I spent GT3 and GT4 learning how to tune, I was horrible, slow at finding out what to do. It's probably the one of the longest learning curves I encountered ever, seriously. Only in GT5 did I 'start' to publicly share tunes. IT TAKES TIME.
- Temper your expectations, especially in high HP non-race cars.
- Start out easy, I'd say follow the typical career mode progression in GT games. Take an N100 car on an easy track you really know well, take it one turn at a time. Then do a couple more. Maybe try an N200 or 300 next on a little bigger/complex track and so on.
- Try each drivetrain as many times as possible. FR are the bread and butter in GT, but MR, FF and 4WD are just as important if you want to race in those classes.
- Tune one thing at a time, especially at first. Play with the extremes of each setting and see what the car does through the entire turn.
- Be ready to do a bazillion restarts :lol:
- Study other tunes and compare them to the stock ones and see why a setting is the way it is. Granted, changing one item affects the rest, but you'll get the idea.
- Lastly, and most importantly, save your work as you go. GTS gives you like 8 tuning sheets to use. So what I do is get the car 'driveable' to work out any obvious issues and save the tune as 'Test 1'. Copy it, save it and rename it to 'Test 2' and go out and improve the tune. I do this over and over typically 4-5 sheets, sometimes more, sometimes less. That way you have a baseline you can go back to if something doesn't work out (and you don't have to start over or write settings down).

That basically sets up how smooth the car feels when traveling over rumble strips, and can have an affect on how the car feels under heavy braking/accelerating. The higher the settings the stiffer the car 'feels'. Sometimes that could be good, in FF cars for example where you want to get them to 'wake up' so to speak. And maybe for some FR/MR cars you want it softer and more forgiving because it can interfere with the other settings you've put in place to make her 'behave'.

Ok thanks. That helps. I knew how to set spring stiffness in the last GT, the more racy the tire, the more stiff you can make the spring.

I understand. My only free time is Saturday morning from 6-8 AM. Today I stayed home with my sick child. Got some grinding during doctor run and about 10 races in during the day.
