Going to leave for the first practice day in about 20-30 minutes.
So pumped at getting back onto the track. :D

Just spent Friday at the UK's biggest outdoor karting track at Teeside with the Uni karting society. An amazing track, so fast and flowing. It had rained everyday up till Friday so all the rubber had been washed off but luckily we had a dry day.
Qualified 2nd against regular, experienced drivers on what is only my second karting experience (and first with twin engined karts!). Took the lead going into turn 1 and led for the first 2 laps until my front left started to lose grip. The kart felt horrible so I pitted and it turned out that it had worn down to the canvas! I changed karts, spent the next 2 laps battling cold tyres and then put my head down. I had no idea how far down I was lap wise so simply spent the next half an hour going flat out.
Ended up 12th out of 14th but only 1 minute behind 1st place and matching the leaders times the whole way through! Gutted in the end but upbeat about my pace and learning every lap going 1.2 seconds quicker than my quali time in the race.

Meh.
Came in 3rd in the final for round 1. Should have had AT LEAST 2nd.
Came in 6th for the final in round 2. Should have won.

I don't know. Lol jus wondering. Is F1 outdoors nice? Never heard of it.

F1 Outdoors is probably the best looking and feeling track out of all of them. It's the best paved.

What was wrong with it?

Absolutely NO places to pass.
I was faster than one person in EVERY single corner going into it and coming out and could not pass them for five or six laps until they made a mistake.
It's also the bumpiest track I've ever been on. My Dad who used to race at Sebring said that just from watching he can see that it's even worse than Sebring. :ouch:

Ugh, that sucks.
What class do you race?
Usually if somebody is holding me up for more than a lap it's dive bombing time lol.

Even that's difficult on this track.

Oh one of my friends just got out of those and moved to USF2000. How long ago?

20 or so years ago.
A friend of mine did a few F2000 races last year. Did pretty well in the few races he did.
Not doing it this year because his team went to oval racing. Instead he's doing the MX-5 cup.

I want to do the MX-5 cup, really anything I'm offered! But I heard that F2000 costs $250,000 per year to run...That makes my wallet hurt. :(

That's what LeMons is for. :sly:

Had our first race last Saturday.
We are randomly placed for the first heat and then reversed for the second.
Heat points determine the starting position and all 3 race points decide the season points.
Got the best possible start in race 1 by going from 4th to 1st on the first turn.
The fastest guy was catching us by 6 tenths a lap but we held on. :DISGUST:
2nd race we were starting in 11th. Made it to 3rd by the 2nd lap and stayed there.
About 4 tenths off now.
Started 2nd for the last race and came out of T1 in 3rd. Got passed and then with about 2 laps to go got him back. Finished 3rd and came 2nd overall for the day. Was only a couple off tenths off so we are going to do more testing to get that back.

Went to DKC earlier for a birthday party. Overall, I got first every single time. Massive improvement over last time I went. Full track was open and I managed to knock five seconds off my time to get a 1:15.9xx, about three seconds off until I get to ride the shifter karts.

At one point I butchered a turn, and went full speed into a small sand dune on the side of the track. The impact was pretty crazy, enough to slam my helmet into the steering wheel even with the seatbelt fully tightened. Still, I did enjoy my friends talking about me like I'm some kind of driving god!

11??? How big is the field in your class?

There were 17-18. Was also some rookies that had to start at the back so that changes the start order a bit.
We are running a Sr.Medium class but if there are 30-35 karts then they will split it into Light and Heavy. Should have about 20 karts each week, but I can name a couple of people who don't race here anymore because of freaking politics in a 4-Cycle kart club. 4-STROKE! THE LEAST EXPENSIVE KARTING DESIGNED FOR FAMILY FUN HAS SO MUCH POLITICS YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE!

My club used to be twice the size I is now. Used to have an average of 20 TaG Jr marts each race and almost 30 TaG Sr entries. Now, Jr Rotax has 9 and Sr has 5 on a good day. :( for some reason the 4 cycle has 15-20 each race lol.
