My club used to be twice the size I is now. Used to have an average of 20 TaG Jr marts each race and almost 30 TaG Sr entries. Now, Jr Rotax has 9 and Sr has 5 on a good day. :( for some reason the 4 cycle has 15-20 each race lol.

Not having to buy tires every race is a big plus for 4-Strokes.
About every 5 races for us, you could go a whole year on 2 sets if you were just starting. Also, the lower power doesn't wear out the chassis as quick, a 7 year old kart can still do really good.
There was this 5-7 year old kart for sale with eveything, engine, tires, and an Alfano. ( I think)
$1500, would be absolutely perfect for somebody starting out.
 
Went to DKC earlier for a birthday party. Overall, I got first every single time. Massive improvement over last time I went. Full track was open and I managed to knock five seconds off my time to get a 1:15.9xx, about three seconds off until I get to ride the shifter karts.

There were 17-18. Was also some rookies that had to start at the back so that changes the start order a bit.
We are running a Sr.Medium class but if there are 30-35 karts then they will split it into Light and Heavy. Should have about 20 karts each week, but I can name a couple of people who don't race here anymore because of freaking politics in a 4-Cycle kart club. 4-STROKE! THE LEAST EXPENSIVE KARTING DESIGNED FOR FAMILY FUN HAS SO MUCH POLITICS YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE!

And that's the same here, haha. Our Chonda class has so much Drama!
 
Yeah, it's kind of sad.
But at least the racing is good. Although the top 4 people in our race cleared off from everone else. I mean CLEARED OFF. After 10 laps we were more than the full length of the straight ahead. Not that the others are slow. (The winner of the race is so fast, one of the best in Ontario.)
 
MG Reds for us. They give good wear. It's funny with the wets though, the new wets are way better in a full rain. But the older ones are better on a dry track when they call it a wet race for some reason. We kept some older wets and called them "Intermediates" lol.
 
We used to run yellows, but the reds made it more interesting. Less grip=better racing.
When we were in Florida, a guy in our team was running shifter. I think they used 2-3 sets of yellows on a practice day. :scared:

I won Race 5 Honda GX. The polesitter blew up and my drafting partner blew as well. (Weird) Got a bit lucky, but was able to hold on for the win without a drafting buddy. 4th in race 6. Kart got really tight and it bogged the motor. :ouch:
Had enough points to get the championship, (Only 2 races but what the hey.) got lucky but I'll take it.

Thanks, they did it for 2 years then stopped. Would've had a lot more if the March breaks lined up.
Saturday I took 2nd out of a field of 16 in my class (80cc laydown) at Oregon Raceway Park. This 2.3 mile track has 16 turns, 8 of which are blind!

Yes, the CR80 has a 6 speed transmission. We run 'em stock (for cost and equality) with the exception of carb and pipe, minimum weight 410 lbs with about 22 hp. Top speed varies of course with gear ratio and such, but 110 mph would be about the quickest we go. Got up to about 90 mph at Laguna Seca with a 1:45 lap.

I want to drive a 90hp+ Superkart before I die.
Coulthard said that they are the closest that you will get to an F1 car.
 
Besides Lower ranked formula cars right?^^ like F3, F2, GP3, GP2, etc? My friend that owns a kart shop has a 250 Super Kart in there. It's scary. All carbon fiber body. I still want to drive it.

I think they run at about the same speed as an F3.
You are so lucky that you even have a slim chance to drive that thing.

For many years I drove a series of self-designed and made karts powered by hopped-up RZ350 motors of about 75hp. I went 155mph maximum, and won a championship or two with them. I rather easily went 1:10 or so at Portland International Raceway at a time when 1:01 or so would have got you on the grid for an Indy Car race. At the time, twin cylinder Rotax 250 superkarts could get down to 1:07 or less.

It takes a Formula Atlantic, or equivalent, to break a superkart laptime. For only about 10X the cost!!
Superkarts have gone 1:28 at Laguna. Probably had 110+ hp.

These babies have a power-to-weight ratio better than a 60's era F1 car, and no rollover bar or seatbelts. So you do need to know what you are doing.

I run the Mojos with my Rotax (obviously), but when I do the WKA races with the Parilla, I'll run Bridgestone YLBs which are MUCH grippier.
I swear, when Mojo designed their rain tire, they probably sat around a table and said "Uhhh yeah, triangles sound good." Bridgestone rains are INFINITELY times better.

I developed my RZ350 motors over a period of years.
Some of my tricks:
- welded and trued crankshaft assemblies
- straight-cut output gearset
- JB welded up the power valves - then carefully ported and polished
- ~370cc (overbored)
- forged pistons
- 34mm Mikuni flat slide carbs bored to 35mm (max allowed), with power jets
- 12,000 rpm max
- squish band < .060
- capacitive discharge magneto ignition (allows much faster revving due to much less rotating weight)
- billet clutch hub/assy
- modified Factory pipes
- ram air box into carbs
- removed all kick start associated parts
- narrowed up clutch cover
- burned race gas @ 7 gallons/hr

Thanks Dotini, I don't think that we will do any of those things lol. (First year is about me improving.) But that info would be useful if we ever were really competitive. Although our class allows 125 GP bikes so I don't think that an RZ350 will beat that.
 
Yes. It's a beautiful creature....:lol: and what class allows 125 GP bike engines???!

Currently the "open" 125 can run in one or two IKF kart classes. For instance , you could run against the 250's (475lbs) while running down at 400 lbs.

Well I was referring to the bike classes.
P4 allows vintage bikes of about 20 years. 125 GP or 350 twins and 500 four stroke twins.
There's a lot more but I can't remember.
 
I remember my cadet days of about 10 years ago when there would regularly be over 20 karts in a field, and that was just for club days. So much competition back then, several of them (including myself) progressed onto cars and a few are racing in Europe this year. My club had 7 of the top ten cadets in the country and they would all turn out. Some huge 15 kart freight trains ensued. I miss those days.

Before I got to our club, they would have to split the Sr class into A,B, and C.
They could only have 20-25 karts on the track at one time so that is insane that they were getting close to 60 entries.

Clubs in the country.
