I don't think anyone would have wanted him to really push harder. He was in a production class IS-F, on a wet track. You have to remember also that his time of 10.07 thereabouts is on the full circuit not just the Nordschlieffe. so 10.07, full track+ wet surface in parts sounds decent enough to me. He certainly wasn't the best or fastest driver there, he probably wasn't the fastest driver in his team, but he's a good driver.

It's not his style, he's just good enough to know his limits and to not floor the throttle first thing he does or mad enough to turn off the TC on a wet track, and that's more than I can say for most people who think they can drive fast. Who usually end up with a crushed front end... or skull...

but remember jeremy clarkson did a 9:59 in a diesel jaguar s-type with less than half the power and a fair bit more weight!

(i know he wasw pushing it to the limit though!)

Clarkson was driving on the Nordschleife. VLN races are run on the Nordshleife and the Nurburgring GP track, so Yamauchi was traveling a longer distance by several kilometers. Their lap times cannot be compared.

No he didn't, JC lapped the Nordschliefe only, this is the full Nurburgring Nordschleiffe circuit which includes the Nurburgring GP track. It's a couple of miles longer than the Nordschleiffe alone.

EDIT: Gah, beaten to the punch.... Again ;).

oops! i didnt realise it the the nordschleiffe and the gp circuit!!

If you watched the video... I did and thought it was strange where i would normally turn right to the finish line in GT4, he drove forwards toward the GP track  and then reconnected to it sometime later.

Can you all not see!!!! it's a wet track and full course!!!!!:banghead: From what I've seen, only the top class overtook him (Porsche's)) give him a dry course and I bet he can go even faster. It's just simple physics, if you go fast in wet road, you'll crash, but if your careful your slow. He's not Michael Schum!

And although they were experienced drivers who raced on the circuit many many times, who knows how many times Kaz has circled the ring virtually and irl in theory he should know its inside out.

I'm really happy for him and it's awesome to see him drive, yeah he might be conservative but that's the style I like so, I won't complain!
