and as it is, they could have just left it out of the game, arcade is easily the least played aspect of this game.

besides, i cant see what hogs up so much more memory in a GTLife race as compared to an Arcade race. Surely, counting up the XP after the race cant put the PS3 to its knees now can it...

LOL, thats a hard point to argue... even if its not constructive :) EDIT, actually to be fair it might be the car tunning section that isn't in the Arcade mode. The modifiable parts, graphics, and adjustments to the physics system could be the thing... and might be why tunning was reduced from other GT's...

I think we are getting more excuses than results or plans... I don't ever want to see GT dethroned but now three are other studios dedicated to racing games (more than a few actually) and they are soaking all of this up... Its the easies project planning ever... just deliver on the missed stuff people want in addition to the core experience people are already liking...

But then again there is always room for the retarded decisions like a HOPPER MP SYSTEM!!!??? WTF? lol

I'm looking over the pond... I can't ignore the results of another racing game that was on one of the hardest licenses in racing and how well that turned out... Yeah, they have my eye...

Has anyone asked about or mentioned the fact that almost every standard car comes in only one color in the used car lot? Or has someone asked how long the cycle is or whether it even is a cycle?

Actually, this isn't true for EVERY car in used car dealer. I've seen several cars, including the Veyron come in different colors every time they show up. However, most cars do only have one color. But, to prove a point:

I had a Dodge Charger Superbee in Blue Matallic and Butterscotch and I've seen one in Yellow and Red.

Only because we're still unlocking stuff. What's the easiest way to get a custom race up and running? Arcade mode. If you're in GT Life you have to either run practice laps on your own, compete in a One Make race or drive one of the preset A-spec races with limited entry requirements.

Once we're all done unlocking cars and levels, Arcade is where people will flock to for their offline races.

This doesn't make sense... This is what "final drive" "gear" is for... It simply evenly pulls the gears apart or together regardless of the individual setting... and there is a return to default option so technically its all covered...

This just looks bad as it's been a mainstay feature in racers forever... to say one of the leading driving games can't do this technically just sends the wrong message to the community... The other competition is laughing its ass off as we die a little inside...

And it's a confidence killer, if you can't "technically" do something so common it makes people wonder what else can't technically be done...

I was/am a huge gear tuner in games... its the first thing I always do to truly understand the cars power bands and potential... by moving how the power is put to the road can change a car to fit any driving style... even making the uncontrollable cars controllable or more predictable (along with other tuning of course)...

Sorry, I just love this game so far so I'm pretty bugged by this... And I assumed it was unlocked as an advanced feature later on...

Exactly. The gear tuning issue, to me, is one of the best indicators that something went horribly wrong in the development of this game. His bizarre response is a perfect indicator that he has completely lost touch with how to design a modern game.

Ignoring for a moment that the feature WAS IN GT5P, when you go to the gear screen, there are buttons to adjust the individual settings and text that suggests you can tweak them. Yet they are inexplicably disabled. Why? It doesn't make any sense to have a disabled interface in the game if you have no intention of making the feature available! Seriously, who does that?? If he wasn't going to allow it, why have the screen at all??

And to answer the very straight-forward and obvious question of "why can't we do this?" in such an obtuse and backhandedly pretentious way... it just boggles the mind. I can't imagine what this guy is thinking, shipping a game in such a bizarre half-finished (or at least "half-enabled") state, with no rational explanation whatsoever.

This isn't some kind of grad school project, Kaz. It's a released game that people paid money for. Get it together, be professional about it.

Man, this bugs the hell out of me.

... before i get into anything, a small note: I've been playing the gt franchise since gt1 and absolutely love every installment of GT from then till now. The driving physics mixed with a steering wheel are enough with GT5 to keep me more than happy...

I think this has to be one of the most intelligent posts that i have read in all of GTP. The complaining over and over again about the same issues gets old. But i really think you pointed out the ONE major issue that bothers me.

PD is a professional company, who have made and are making HUGE amounts of money off of the franchise. YET, their Public Relations department in their company is non-existent.

If the game has all these missing parts, FINE, but at least give official responses to all the media bombardment. Same goes for the first patch, no real official explanation of what it was or what the next ones are going to solve.

If only PD was more public about what they are doing or going to do, i think the public's backlash of this game would be much less. Before someone jumps on me for this part, i don't mean they need to list out every single step of action they are going to take. I just mean that they need to be more transparent about whats going on. Its all about PR.

cheers.

I'm confused. We had individual gear adjustment in Prologue. What is the issue? I really believe they will add this soon. It's in the frakin manual.

Agyasu can you translate the following message so I can tweet Kaz?

Thanks!

"Subaru Legacy GT 03' sedan have left break light not lighting up properly at night race. Right break light works perfectly, though. Because one side works and other side doesnt it looks very weird. Is this fixable by patch?"

It's a rear foglamp. Nothing wrong.

The Camaro SS '00 tail lights don't illuminate at all at night unless you use the brakes. Headlights and brake lights work but the normal tail lights don't so the back of the car is pitch black at night.

Premium cars in the making, that is really good news, lets hope that they can add new models to the P list.

Yamauchi is solving a lot of question regarding physics and lightning on twitter, you might want go there and see what you can found.

A lot of interesting stuff on twitter.

コンバートも悪くないけど、せっかくなら新しいクルマをプレミアムモデルで作りたい。RT @mcmercslr: @Kaz_Yamauchi how many standard cars are you planning to convert to premium??

A non-Google Translate translation pls!

You're not kidding. Trying to read the Google translations is an exercise in itself.

"Converting [standard cars to premium] wouldn't be bad, but since we're at it I'd like to make new cars as Premium models"

Thanks Akira...

"Wouldn't be bad"... I wonder what that means... wouldn't be bad as in the quality wouldn't be bad? Or it wouldn't be hard?

Looks like they'll be focusing on pushing more new Premiums... not entirely a bad thing I suppose.

As in "that wouldn't be a bad idea".

Yes, but there are many cars in the game that deserve to be premiums.
Also many standard cars of which there is at least one existing Premium model could be easily converted.

Please someone Tweet him, and ask Kaz to make the BMW e30 Premium now!!

Could you ask him what car he is driving in the morning? What is Kaz's daily driver???? I was wondering about it this morning on my commute to work, driving my e36 :D

Kaz make up your mind!! He just said to famitsu that standard cars will be upgraded to premiums and now says he would prefer to create brand new premiums...:nervous:

Wouldn't be a bad idea... Makes it sound almost as if he's just, now, thinking about it! LOL.
Q "Hey, why don't you convert your Standards to Premiums?".
A "That wouldn't be a bad idea...".

But, yeah, that's what I was thinking... the Skylines, the RX7's, etc all have pre-existing Premiums, but can they get away with using those models and retouching to to make them, say, a GTS or a different year GTR? I don't really know the year-on-year cosmetic changes between each model, but I'm sure some people do and will probably nit-pick at it.

I like that answer. "Why don't you convert standards to premiums?"

Kaz: "That's not a bad idea. And, while we're at it, we'll make some NEW premium cars, as well."

As much as Kaz is pushing the PS3 - it's bricking some of the old PS3s, like GT4 did with early gen PS2s - we may need Standards in order to have a field of 16 cars that won't overstress the console.

Honestly, before any car DLC, I'd like to see both the online system and A-Spec races expanded greatly.
