See it's posts like these that make it tough for me to jump at buying this game if offline is terrible I don't care for online. I'm a person who likes the single player experience because for me online is the next step once you think you've got the skills to challenge people.

I play single player 90% of the time and love it, even just doing hotlaps in a car with 24hr time cycle (sped up though) and weather on Nordschleife on my own is heavenly.

Remember Gran Turismo has always until now (full GT release) been a single player game, GT5 is the same with Multiplayer added to the experience.

I just want more interesting tracks honestly I'm not a big fan of the real world race tracks. I do understand their importance to other people, but I like racing the SSR13, Paris tracks, Hong Kong. Just give me all the tracks that are missing at least maybe 5 new ones(goes off in an insane rage).

@ Jay

See listening to others here and people elsewhere it's been a fact that the offline portion of this game is a waste of time.

There are hundreds of fixes and I would be disappointed if every single one wasn't fixed.

So guess what, I'M DISAPPOINTED!

GT5 can be fun, I just can't take it seriously like I can with FM3. It feels like there's a purpose in FM at least... with GT5 it's just a couple races that you can abuse to get money and collect vehicles, maybe race some online too.

FM3 feels like you race to buy more cars to race with, and then you can customize your ride and sell it and do all kinds of stuff in half the time it took GT5 to come out with their "beta" of a game.

It just miffs me how PD could drop the ball with this game so bad.

Like I said though, I still have fun playing GT5, it just has NO competition for Forza on the way of quality of gameplay.

I was a long time forza player since the start of FM2, FM2 was a great game but when FM3 came out it went down hill in my opinion. I am the competitive type who likes to compete on the leaderboards, but to be competitive you get the choice of less than 10 cars to be competitive and go after those top ten times. Now for people who like to play a game how I like to play it and compete with others all over the world, 10 cars out of a near 500 to choose from is a disgrace, the P.I system is terrible.

In order to be competitive in race lobbies you may as well throw all RWD and FWD cars in the garbage, as AWD dominates this game because of the terribly flawed AWD swap conversion.

This is in my opinion the 2 main problems with this game which makes it a terrible failure, and don't hold much hope for FM4. The P.I system needs to be completely revamped and they need to get rid of the AWD swap because these issues killed the game.

If turn 10 decide to keep the same physics engine then I may not even try this game

On topic, am I right in saying the GT prologue servers are to be taken offline this month, may be wishful thinking for this update but could it pave the way for leaderboards to be introduced in this update

I have absolutely no problems with taking a RWD vehicle in and spanking some AWD cars. AWD has its flaws and if you know how to tune a setup, RWD is just simply the way to go.

Somewhat back on topic, not that I think it'll be more than a glitch fix update, but when is it dropping anyone know yet?

When it comes to a racing SIM's quality of gameplay, usually it refers to the handling (Physics) of the vehicles. GT5 is the king of console racers (In terms of physics) it even sometimes compete with PC Sim's, which is something that i wouldn't have thought of 9 years ago. Forza 3 was a fun game but the physics were sub-par, and looking at the footage of Forza 4 it probably would't change anytime soon.

3.00am BST it says on Gran turismo website

I was in one of the top teams on FM3, and know the ins and outs of that game, 9 times out of 10 if you are racing SKILLED people you stand no chance in anything other than AWD.

For the record old GT, EMW aDReNaLiN, Now my GT is vX DyNaMiCz Xv

I think this one will be a major update. I don't think Kaz would announce it if it wasn't. I truly believe it will be a good update. Of course we can't expect to be up to everybody's expectation but I'm sure it will be good.

I want to have high hopes for this update... leader boards, new tracks (the ones found on their servers last month), new premium cars & standards upgraded to premium... I want those things so so badly... but i can't believe they will happen.

I'm not getting my hopes up. A big update like that would be advertised prior to it's release... and the truth is, it's barely been mentioned.

Though, i am glad an update (whatever it may be) is on the horizon.

I'm approaching this update with the same approach you take when your girlfriend calls you and says "I'm coming over, we need to talk."

If you expect it to be bad and it turns out bad, then no loss. If you expect the bad and it turns out good, then its so much better that way.

and btw, my gamertag is Digitool on xbox, depending on how good or bad this update is I may switch back over to playing FM3. I got a free 250gb xbox from a friend who never opened it a couple months ago, and before that I had randomly bummed my friends' since I had sold mine long ago.

I'd be willing to put in some FM time if GT doesn't do something to help salvage itself.

exactly, if the update was going to be a lot of new exciting things, they'd generate buzz about it and get people excited and ready for it. they'd use that as a ploy to get people back playing the game in full force a few weeks before release of the update.

the fact that its been kept mum leads me to believe there is no exciting news worth getting their "fanbase" riled up over.

Yeah, crap talk, why do you think most of us "senior" members don't hang out here anymore, we talk in other sections like the infield.

Agreed, any sort of update big or small helps to the improvement of this already great game. I to would like to see leaderboards in this update, along with more options in the online lobbies. They already have options for designated rooms such as kart racing, F1 among others. So it shouldn't be to difficult to implement the same features for touring cars and GT500s. The drafting could do with being toned down a bit also as you may as well sit in 2nd place and fly past your opponent just before the line :sly:

There are some strongpoints in GT5s physics and there are also some SUPER weak areas. Also, the damage model is crap and how your car reacts under damage is a very sorry excuse for "damage" if you ask me.

To me, damage is a big part of being a simulation, you pay for your mistakes and it helps you become better. GT wants you to be able to rocket off of walls and keep going no problem and it just takes away from the realism.

Almost correct. Gran Turismo has always been a one player game. The travesty of GT5 is that it is not like that. It's an online game with a tiny little one player game added to it. Not bad for the 70% of PS3 owners who haven't got their PS3's online according to the last assessment of these things that I saw.

Wrong thread Digitool. It should be obvious.

Not only damage, unfortunately: collisions, the tire model (at low speeds, while slipping, on dirt/snow), airborne dynamics, suspension dynamics (for example after jumps), limited slip differentials behavior, the changes between online and offline that can't be explained only with the added fuel load, the invisible "god hand" that makes rollovers very hard offline with normal tires and impossible online, and the list goes on. Driving physics, although decent for a console game, are still quite behind top tier PC titles. As a sim, I'd like more, personally. I hope future updates will go toward a better realism in these areas too.

Flash EDIT: but yeah, probably off-topic here.

:P You guys crack me up! The update isn't even out, nor are there any details on it, and there are complaints about it. I will just wait and see what it brings. After all, no one is forcing me to play this game, and if there are better ones out there then I have no issues moving on. But so far I am very happy with the game.

Zuku, be wary of the complaints about the game that you read on the internet. Remember how many copies have been sold, and try to relate it to the number of complaints. I for one am very happy with GT5. For on-line, all I do is the seasonal events and the on-line car dealership, I do not do the on-line multilayer racing aspect. So I find the off-line part to be just fine.

I find it hard to challenge myself against A.I. because... as it says, its artificial intelligence.

Taking a racing game online gives you a challenge, and makes it more social, you make friends (and enemies) you can learn more and share information and show off and so much more than you can offline.

I enjoy both, however. I want lots of races I can do offline so that I don't always have to rely on racing online though, I feel GT5 kind of drops the ball.

If the update includes more races for offline I will not complain at all about it. But I feel that online provides the best racing.

I want to be excited for this but for some reason I can't. Hell, I haven't touched GT5 in like a month and a half.

Same here, but then I touched it last night and it was awesome.

It's like when you don't see your girlfriend for a month. You forget the bad stuff and just think how hot she is when she does what you like. And what she does best. Nordschleife 24h anyone?

Don't hate to be the party pooper here, but am I the only one that is reading Kaz' tweet as: "today there will be a server update and a new special seasonal event"?

Shift 2. Single player is a blast.

Indeed that's a possible interpretation :S
Can anyone translate Kaz statement correctly?
