For $2900, that was an absolute steal. Too bad you'll have to spend $2900 in oil just to keep it running this year.
I kid! Congrats!
Screw oil, it's the gas I'm worried about. Last night at about 5:30am I filled the tank up with premium, then drove around with a buddy for about 20 miles. Went to bed. I went to work. When I left for lunch I looked at my gas gauge and I had 3/4 tank. HOW THE HELL. Considering the tank holds at least 15 gallons, that means it took about 3.5 gallons to go 35 miles? That's...10 miles per gallon. For $2900, that was an absolute steal. Too bad you'll have to spend $2900 in oil just to keep it running this year.
Welcome to the fun of owning a modern classic, or an early 90's car in general. As far as the gas mileage, I'd do the usual routine New Car changes: Oil, plugs, wires, filters, and some fuel system treatment (but I'm sure you're either well on your way or at least knew that anyway.). When I first bought my 442 it was getting around 14-17 mpg and after all that was done it got 28. 👍Screw oil, it's the gas I'm worried about. Thanks, guys. Now I need to practice going sideways, and get a big RedSuns sticker like John suggested.
Btw, it looks alright in those pictures, but I'm going to compile a list of things that seem to be wrong with it:
*list of anamolies*
That's about all I can come up with. I'm taking it to the dealer for an inspection soon. I'll ask them about the hamster in my dash.

Rotaries aren't exactly known for their fuel economy.
Do you really need to? I'm wondering if it's a carryover from the turbo car.. Sort of like a dummy light for a Pyrometer.Anybody got any tips on how to overheat the exhaust? Do I need to do a dyno top speed run or something?

Acceleration in the negative direction? Explain to me how a lack of fire is going to make something hot.Lots of high-RPM deceleration should do ya.

Backfires. Cool.Excess fuel mixture burning off through the exhaust
The guage is probably like old Nissans. It's somewhat progressive. It goes quick at first and then slows down after you get past half a tank. Dunno why, but it does. I know my car sits at half a tank with 20 bucks of mid-grade, but at 3/4 with 25. My buddies '93 Altima does the same thing.Screw oil, it's the gas I'm worried about. Maybe I should stop flooring it?

Post of the MF day. 👍Hell no.
Whore yourself out for money or something.
The car was rated at 17 city and 25 highway by the EPA, which is terrible already.
If it makes you feel any better, my Celica was only rated at 19 and 26. I wouldn't call the RX terrible by any means.
