Pretty decent challenge:tup:

After about 40 miles and quite a bit of surfing thru the sand:D, I've been able to run a 1:10.537 lap which has put me in 51st place on the early Leaderboard:)

See you on the beach!

Oh man...I have a feeling I'm going to struggle with this one. I am NOT good on this track with any car... I've run about 5 laps and only had 2 valid times. Best lap is a 1:15.xxx right now. Ugh...

EDIT: Oh thank you GT overlords! 1:13.589 and that is good enough for me... :D

EDIT 2: Crap...I almost forgot to say that I used @shaunm80's wonderful tune. My struggles were due to the inexperience with the track. I am overdriving every corner. Gotta go slower and smoother.. I really need to keep practicing on this track.

Well PD have really out done themselves with this one. Maybe they should send some marshals out to sweep the track, I think it must be covered in sand. Wow, what a let down after the last set of seasonals. Golded and gone.
Same here: took me 3 hours to get a 1:13,998 (!), golded by 0,002 seconds and gone away in disgust! :irked:
Bit of an aside but is it pronounced "ex-bow" or "cross-bow" ?
Being from the country where this car is produced I can tell you it is pronounced "ix-box", nothing to do with a cross-bow!
Dunno why they have chosen that name.
Anyway, once had a great tune for this car which made it real fun to drive, but lost it or messed it up, and I can't find a driveable tune ever since! :banghead:

1:10.60x here. Seems that our friendly challenge starts again, like in Brands Hatch. Hope to find the time this weekend to get under 1:10.

See you on the beach, too ;)

As of this writing I can tell you there are 5609 participants with the gold standard..I happen to know this fact because I hover just above that magical mark thanks to @shaunm80 and his fantastic tune.

I had a wonderful tune on there already that was great in the hills and everywhere else but really, really sucked at the wind blown, too close to the sun, area 51, Willow Springs track...

When's the next bus outta here?..

I am really enjoying this TT so far. I encourage everyody struggling with this combo to give it a try. Reminds me to the LFA at Brands Hatch. Hard to get used to it, but once you tame it, it's quite rewarding.

This.

Finally a challenging car/track combo :)

Sounds like an Aussie games console!!

They even make X-Bow with a screen!?!?!

Hi, this car appears to be docile but is a demon, my best lap is 1: 12,607 no aids. I hope to improve .... hahaha...

The music is composed by me,

Awesome music and the way you attacked that first turn too.

This.

Finally a challenging car/track combo :)
I really agree on this ,it was realy a tough one.
My only complaint is that GT6 has a really nice number of tracks, they should vary more under different condition (see the FF time trial on Bathurst)

I' ll give it to you in your own language (copied from GT6 Beyond the Apex in German version):

"""Der Name wird nach der mechanische Bogenwaffe "Crossbow" gelesen"""

;)

Are you kidding me?! You're 0.001 away from first place.... THAT is harsh... :banghead:

One-One Thousandth of a second.  :grumpy:

0.164 ahead of him now... That doesn't really matter though, as I always lose interest in these after a few days, so I'm not fighting for the top spot 👍

Yeah...I hear ya. Believe me, I'm not trying to put myself in your category, but I'm similar to you in the sense that I lose interest rather quickly. I'll play GT6 all night, but it's gotta be something else besides running the same lap over and over and over and over. Heck, I could even do the same A-Spec Seasonal Race over and over because at least I have a few cars that I've gotta avoid in the process of making credits every single time I do the race. Super Laps pay you once and that's it. :grumpy: 👎

Seriously though... That's one heck of a time @Sutuki! I'm sure if you wanted to put the time into it you would do even better. You must have been shocked when you first realized you were one one-thousandth of a second behind that dude.

This is actually the first time I've ever driven on streets of willow. When I saw this thread I had to double check if the track had been added in a ninja update cause I couldn't even remember if it was in the game :P

I was actually expecting to be 5th-10th today (I was first yesterday). There's definitely room for improvement, I'm not smooth enough yet.

I've edited my earlier post to show the tune I'm using. If you can call it that :P. It's for the DS3, not sure how it works with a wheel.

Oh, man... I watched your replay. The very first thing that I thought to myself was "Wow...Look at how smooth his driving is!" That's funny... Obviously, you know whether or not your lines truly were perfect or not. To plebs, like me, your lap looks as smooth as silk! 👍

why no camber or toe? i thought those 2 went well with slightly elevated turns and parabola alike

Zero camber because I never found it useful :D. I haven't tried different toe settings yet, might try something different when/if I use the wheel some time later.

I have the car set up for maximum rotation, while trying to maintain a good grip level. It's certainly not something I would drive for fun .

One easy way to make the car easier to drive is to raise the ride height to max, this allows you to be much more aggressive with the throttle/brakes. You could also try LSD 5/5/20-40 to make it more controllable when off-throttle.

My gold tune for this event

KTM X-Bow Street '12

Tune here

willow-springs-international-raceway_-streets-of-willow-springs-jpg.250899
So i tried this tune in another account, and got the same problems that i had with my "X-BOW R"
Great tune, but missing something for my drivestyle.MY DRIVESTYLE!!nothing wrong with the tune!! The tune is very good.👍
1st of all, i'm using automatic transmission.
In a corner, when i'm comming out of the corner, the car start a slide when the gears change.
I changed Brakebalance to 10/7 (was 8/7)
and changed LSD to 5/5/22.
Traction at 2, but could try 1
abs=1
DS3=6
I got a better time then yesterday, with my X-BOW R, but same settings for LSD and Traction.
Took me three laps to beat my own time and get gold (unknown handling, had to get used to this car)
Yesterday it took me almost 1 hour to get a gold time with my own tune.
So thank you for these settings.

When i'm struggeling with an event, somehow your tuningstyle matches my drivestyle and i get gold much easy-er and faster.👍

I entered this event this morning to give it a try and WHOAH!:eek::eek: The track conditions were very very BRIGHT SUNLIGHT and SUN GLARE ...........I could barely see the track. No chance of even being able to drive............almost as if there was an atomic bomb flash going off somewhere nearby in the desert (Actually, maybe there was some testing going on nearby ) . Anyone else have this problem?:eek::eek:

Half a dozen laps in a stock X-Bow-R gave me a 1:12.365 :D now time for a tune up to see how much closer I can get to the top.

I used this tune.

And according to my notes, the tunen made by @CRANK_U1. But I do not know where he posted it.

I've only changed some of the "power parts", and adjusted the final gear

W is an X in Germanic languages? Cross bow made sense as an open frame weapon of sorts with visible moving parts and high speed.

I also made it 13.8 too, found TCS 2 the cure, felt sluggish but faster than TCS 1.

So not definitely crossbow then? What does is-box translate out as?

the official name is supposed to be pronounced "cross-bow"
however, its colloquially called "ex/ix-bow" (english = ex / german = ix)
and they probably chose it because when looking at it from the front, it does resemble a "crossbow"
