Ran this event for the first time and probably because I wasn't thinking I lost the event by pushing my lvl. 40 bob too hard into Mulsanne. Needless to say, if he didn't run wide on lap 10 (he did the same on lap 8 yet he was in 2nd on lap 10 on the leader's draft) I would have won.

Audi R8 2001 with 6/3 Brake Setting and 706 HP @ 700 PP. Hard to RI on lap 3 and then on lap 8 again RI. I can win this if I just don't push him late and maybe push him on the early laps.

One thing to note (probably everyone knows this) is that one of the Pescarolos will always be running for the win. The 787B will be up front early (in my case he short-pitted on lap 2 and then ran til lap 9) but for some reason fell off late (and fell off hard I should add). The Peugeot lost the leader's group @ lap 4. The Bentley was strange though. For the first 5 laps it was clearly as good, if not better than the Pescarolo and then on or about lap 6 it.... fell off badly. It just fell too far back to mount a challenge. On the other side, the 2005 Audi R8 was a late charger.

UPDATE: Ran this race a 2nd time and won by 9.451 seconds finishing in 40:29. Ran the Audi R8 2001 again with 706 HP 60/85 Aero, TS: 242 MPH, Brake Balance 6/3. My two drivers were level 40 (near neutral temper) and level 36 (fairly hot) with the level 40 driver running 2 stints. Took the lead on lap 5 but didn't hold it firmly til lap 6, upon which I didn't lose the lead til pitting on lap 8. Did go off slightly at Mulsanne on lap 9 but it wasn't enough to cause any huge problems (lost 8 seconds). Gained lead back on lap 10 and did not have to coach my driver at all on the final lap due to large gap of 10 seconds.

Some observations from my second race:

I made a mistake about the Mazda short pitting everytime. This time the car that short-pit was the Pescarolo Courage - Judd (Toyota GT-ONE did as well but was a non-factor) on lap 2 and ran 7 laps to the final stop. On lap 10, the Pesky Judd had one of the worst imaginable laps possible, going off 3 times and twice stopping. This caused it to fall from 3rd to 7th (the last of the cars running somewhat for the win).

The Audi R8 2001 is clearly going to challenge you for the win if its in the race. This car was battling my own R8 (yellow against red) from lap 4 until lap 6 (when I took the lead for good) and was in 2nd place without much challenge from anyone.

The Bentley finished 4th behind 3 of the 4 Audis, with 3rd place being the 2005 Audi R8 (the poor R10 failed to be any factor and finished 11th).

The Pescarolo Courage C60, if it shows up, will not be competitive at all. The car has a top speed of under 200 MPH and it kills any shot of it competing with the Hybrid (which is the best of the 3) and the Judd (which may have trouble with traction).

Yeah, the R10 Audi never seems to be a factor - even when it's our Bobs driving it! I'm sure it's a better car in A-Spec...

I finally did it!. I've been grinding Spa for money lately, and I just about gave up on this one 'cos I couldn't win it. I don't have the 2J, and I didn't want to borrow one to win it. I wanted to try to win with one of the cars I had since others have been able to. I lost initially with the R8 Oreca '05 car by 0.01 seconds (only pitted once at L5 and ran SS tires). The Audi R8 '01 took it from me by a hair. That was painful to watch.

I've been trying this race over and over, with the R8, Courage cars, R10,and I switched over to the GT-ONE today to see what it could do. I guess I had my set up wrong with some of the other cars, 'cos I lost several times initially with the GT-ONE. I had maxed out the car and used the Power Limiter to set the PP to 700, and I left the aerodynamics in their stock position. I also had the transmission set to the highest top speed possible. This set up was a mess. I did as someone else suggested with no turbo and decrease the aero, but instead I used a Mild Turbo kit, reduced the downforce to get it to 700, and this race went from the most difficult one I've tried lately to a cake walk.

Here's my set up for the GT-ONE:
Oil Change (if you haven't done one yet)
Chassis Reinforcement
Aerodynamics: F/45 R/65
Turbo: Mild RPM Range Kit
Transmission: Top speed set to 249 (Top speed shows 254mph)
LSD: 12/40/22
Suspension: Left it alone
Brakes: F/7 R/7
Tires: Racing Hard first, change to Racing Intermediates at both pit stops to finish.
Pit stops: end of L3 and end of L7
Gas: I added 10L of gas at each pit stop. Don't know if it made a difference, but I figured with the change in the aerodynamics, a little extra weight at the tank might help keep the car planted. There did not seem to be any delay either at the pit. At the first Pit, I went in 5th behind the Mazda 787B, and I came out 4th in front of him.

Max HP: 846 HP
Weight: 900 kg
PP: 700 (adjust the PP down to 700 using the Power Limiter)

My drivers were L35 and L34. I started with my best driver. I kept him pretty much between 70-75%, pushing him down close to 50% at some of the hardest corners. He made it to 5th when I pitted, took 4th at the pit, and I cruised my second driver to 1st by the end of lap 6. I dropped down some when I pitted the second time, but all the cars that passed me still had to pit at the end of the 9th, so I just stayed as close to them as possible without getting my driver too hot, and passed them up when they pitted. I cruised the last lap at around 50-60% and won with a 15.xx second lead. I forgot to record the exact time, but it was 40.xx minutes.

This one is easy once you set the car up right. I was not planning on doing it again, but I might try it with a few other cars now just to see if I can do it with them.

Just won it with the Chappy again, this time on a 1-stopper, using a Level 36 and a Level 0 Bob! Here's what I did: Started the L-0 Bob, who totally sucked (of course), and ran him for one lap - he was already almost wasted, well below half on the strength meter - running on Sports Softs. Pitted at end of Lap 1, put in L36 Bob, pushed him HARD through most of the race, figured I'd take 4th, maybe 3rd. Never had the lead until beginning of Lap 10 - caught the others while they were in the pits. The Audi R8 '01 came out behind me, but far enough back that I didn't have to push too hard to get Bob to the finish in front. Tires were more than half gone by the end of their 9-lap stint.

So why did I put a Level 0 Bob in the car? To level him up, of course. Anything would have moved him up, even a last place finish. As it worked out, winning moved him a BUNCH; he's now a Level 19 Bob, with 1 race and 1 win to his credit! :)

Anyone got a good gear ratio setup for the r8 playstation racer? Can't do it just now! Any other tips?

I just won it again with the Audi R8 PS '05 car (after countless unsuccessful attempts with this car!), and I won by such a large margin, that I don't even know how big it was because the 2nd place driver didn't even cross the finish line before it went to the next window to give me the prize money. I saved the game, so I can edit this post later to see how I did. I don't have any specific gear ratios for you. Here's how I set up the car and my strategy.

Audi R8 Playstation '05:
Oil Change (if you haven't done one yet)
Chassis Reinforcement
Aerodynamics: F/40 R/60
Turbo: Mild RPM Range Kit
Transmission: Top speed set to 249 (Top speed shows 254mph)
LSD: 12/40/22
Suspension: Left it alone
Brakes: F/7 R/7
Tires: Racing Hard first, change to Racing Intermediates at both pit stops to finish.
Pit stops: end of L3 and end of L8
Gas: I added 10L of gas at each pit stop.

Max HP: 835 HP
Weight: 950 kg
PP: 700 (adjust the PP down to 700 using the Power Limiter)

Time: 40.02.332
Best lap: 3.43.509

My drivers were L35 and L34. Started with my best driver, and he went into the pit at the end of L3 in 4th place and came out in 2nd (I think). I came out behind the Audi R8 '01, and he and I created a huge gap between us and the rest of the field. I took first by the middle of L5. I tried to keep my driver in the 70-80% range, but I dipped him lower in some of the corners, and he ran up to 100% in some of the straights. I don't know what happened to the R8 '01; he was behind me up until the middle of lap 6, and then I just broke away from him and created a good 20-30 second lead. He might of wrecked in a corner or something. I meant to pit at the end of L7, but I missed it and had to pit at the end of L8. I went in the pit holding 1st place, came out in 3rd. I just stayed with the two lead cars, keeping my driver around 60-65% to warm up the tires, and by the end of the 9th lap, they pitted while I didn't (be sure to cancel the pit stop). I cruised the last lap at 50% until around the 2'40" mark, and then I pushed him a little to see if I could get it under 40'00". I'm sure if I would have pushed my driver some more in the last lap, I would have shaved off a few more seconds.

Thanks! Is there such a thing as a Performance Points Limiter? I was only aware of a power Limiter

Oops, my bad. I meant to say adjust the PP down to 700 using the Power Limiter. I corrected the above posts. I'm still fairly new to GT5, but I've been a GT fan since GT2.

Baaaahhhh, I just tried 2J with st 3 Turbo.
Lvl 31 Bob to start on RH pit lap 2
Finish race with Lvl 35 Bob on RI
Race Time 40:52 lost to Pescarolo Hybrid by 2 seconds

Did Sarte with the 2J (the vacuum car). Easy win. So realistic too. Driving over 200mph in pitch black on a wet track with no headlights! I sure do have brave Bobs!

Use sport soft tires and bob won't pit.

I borrowed a 2J - ta Kwicko :D - and finally snagged the win last night. Now I need to burn some CR before trying it again with a car that I actually have

Yeah this was a tough one for me i don't have a 2J have the other one been trying to buy it for ages and ages lol. Anyway i tried the R8 Race Car (Audi PlayStation Team ORECA) '05 and did ok until my Bob and Tyres died on me and the pit options but no chance. Then tried all different kinds of car even the Ferrari F12007 lol dont go there there all F12007's but there's were faster lol.

So settled for the Audi R8 race car and finally won. Stayed out on RH until the end of lap 3 (think i was 6th) just stayed cool towards the end of the lap, after that was lying 4th and only about 6-8 seconds behind the leader so not bad so decided to pit earlier the end of lap 8 for inters, well the lap started bad he spun the rears a bit and went onto the grass at the Esses then the corner before the Muslanne straight disaster he lost the back end and spun to a stop :-( i was about to quit but continued and pitted and pressed as hard as i could and well i passed them in the pits with about 4 seconds lead and won by 2 seconds close but fun too.

But for me the Audi R8 race car is the best way to win without the Chaparral 2J and pit at the end of Lap 3 (Inters) and Lap 8 (Inters) early pitstop on 8 is better i think seem to make up time on the leaders and pass them by when they pit on end of lap 9.

I don't know if someone has mentioned this yet, and if so, I apologize for being redundant, but on the version 2.03 leak that's on the front of GTPlanet right now, did anyone else notice the line that says:

"Fixed unintended pit stop error in the final lap of a B-spec race."

I wonder if this is the b-spec race they're talking about? Did PD not mean for the AI to all pit at the end of lap 9? If this changes after the 2.03 update next week, this race is going to get a LOT harder than it already is.

I took it to mean the pit stop error where your Bob is trying to pit the lap after you pit. Although that's not on the final lap, so not sure.

BMW V12 LMR worked well. My Bobs had an easy win without Audi R8 in the grid and a close win just in front of the R8. So 2 wins in a row!

I've won this race over 10 times after alot of struggle with the Bentley speed 8 and even now i need to nurse my Bobs alot. Bspec lvl 31 and 28 now 37 and 34.

Here is my setup. For the Bentley.
top speed around 404/kph 241 /mph
Turbo stage 3
Engine at 91% for the 700 pp regulation. BHP 787
Not sure about the aero but its around 75%
Around +100 kilo placed in the back (around 40)
Brake at 7 front 6 back
Suspension at default.

Pit strategy
Start with Racing hard
Pit at the end of lap 2 and 8 with racing inter.
Depending on your Bob you will lead around the 4rth lap or 6th.
Best result was 39:49.
Careful on lap9 your bob doesnt pit with RH with the wet race, you gonna curse.

If your bobs are down (orange arrow down) you will have a tuff race to nurse even if your bob are past lvl 35. 2 Bobs under lvl 24 wont win this race with the Bentley speed 8.

btw/ theres probably better setup but for now that what i could figure out to help people finish this milk cow race.

Challenging race no doubt but I'm going back to Spa where I know there is a guaranteed purse of $4mil. and not a bucket of frustration.

Can't do it with the PS R8 :(
Would anyone want to trade a 2j?
Or does anyone know where I could get a 2j?

Kwicko
249mph top end did it for me - he'll actually hit around 235 or so on some of the straights when he gets a good tow, and that way he's not running into the rev limiter or running out of steam, so he can carry some speed to whistle past the competition.

Sports Softs all around, no pits at all. I have to slow my Bobs down for the hard right-hander at the end of the Mulsanne straight, and again through some of the esses, but run him pretty hard other than that (75% or so).

A grid with the 905 on pole and none of the BMW V12 cars is a grid that's easiest to beat. :)

I may need to do some oil changes and engine/chassis refreshing on the 2Js I've got shared, if they're not doing the job. They shouldn't get run down while being shared, but I've used them a few times as well, and they may be due for some much-needed upkeep.

I've tried running Sports Softs on some other cars, but they still need at least one pit stop when I do it, because they're harder on rear tires than the Chappy is, even if I turn down the downforce on those other cars at the rear a bit.

Nice

I'd like to win this race using a Bentley Speed 8, once I get it.
For the moment, my best place, driving a toyota gt-one, was 7th :|
