The Chaparral 2J was definitely the best option for me. I've done this race three times now using Sports-Soft tires, Turbo Lv3 and Transmission at 390km/h, though he does slide a few times around lap 7-8. I'm still surprised that Bob doesn't pit with those tires.

Yeah ridicilous how 10 laps can suceed without the new for pit and the back tyres have just a little below half been worn out.

My best bob is 26 and my other is 0 lol!
Can anyone suggest what car I could use(don't have 2j or r(eight)) and setup so I wouldn't need to change driver?

Thanks

*haven't put number eight as it changed to a smiley????

Thanks to all the previous posts of members, I was able to win this event in the Pescarolo Courage-Judd. Over about 5 tries, I (#1) developed an improved rain setup, (#2) learned to put Rain Intermediates on at laps 2 and 8, and (#3) learned to better coach my level 35/34 B-spec drivers. I took the lead at lap 4 and won by >20 seconds.

Respectfully submitted,
Steve

You can level up your Lvl. 0 Bob very quickly at the moment.

Race the Spa seasonal. I used a TAKATA NSX '06 with stage 3 turbo, max downforce, and a Lvl. 0 Bob.

Wait in the lobby until the track is 19% damp or less. Once the track is less than 20% wet, the AI cars will all start on RH tires, but when the race starts, it's actually 30% wet. Make sure you have RI's equipped in the lobby and you'll pass the entire field as they pit on Lap 1.

Keep Bob 's pace in the middle to an easy 1st. With the 200% bonus he'll jump to (IIRC) at least Lvl. 20 or 21. Repeat the race until he's comfortably in the 30's (once he's 25 or so, you won't need to do the 19% trick).

You're quite welcome, I'm currently grinding the Spa race to level all 5 Bobs to 40, and making more cash than I can spend.

For Le Mans, I used the R8 Playstation Team ORECA '05 that's in the OCD right now. My setup and strategy are posted earlier in this thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6435204#post6435204

Going to sound so stupid but don't have ps3 on just now but is that the black one at about 5,000,000 cr lol

Well, after buying 9 XJ13's and levelling up my other 5 drivers to LVL 40 am done with this event now, have lot's of fond memories of the R8 in particular going into the sand for no reason at all, & watching my guys driving the 2J almost telepathically in the complete darkness i'm happy to say I won't miss this event. :)

I've just tried it using a GT-One, but I lost... :(
Apart from waiting for the Audi R8 to appear in the udc.. I don't know what other car to use. Bob is at level 27.

I would try and borrow a 2J mate, at lvl 27 I can't see how he wouldn't win that race.

Ive tried using both Audi 8's and can't get it done. Both my drivers are 35's.

Thanks, will hopefully try and do this tomorrow. Will it still be in the dealership tomorrow?

It's been there since Dec. 29: https://www.gtplanet.net/gt5-seasonal-event-and-online-dealership-update/ I have no idea when the OCD will get refreshed next.

No need to wait, there's one in the OCD right now (see above).

You don't mean this one do you? (Pics by ARDA_TIRMAS)

It does sound very similar to the Audi R8 Race Car (Audi PlayStation Team Oreca) ’05 – 4,000,000cr:

Finally completed this using the 2J race car, tried so many other cars and came so close but the 2J just went that extra mile!

I know the R8 Oreca is in the car dealer, but I'm waiting for the Team Joest Audi R8, which permforms slightly better, and I cannot afford both :D

But.. is the 2J really faster than all these LMP and Sports prototypes such as audi r8, gt-one, c60 hybrid, speed 8 etc ? Can't believe it

Well I wouldn't say it's faster than all the others but it handles better in my opinion, does not eat up the tyres that much so you can get through the whole race without having to stop in the pits. It is quite wiered though speeding down the straights in pretty much pitch black lol

The trick to the 2J is that you can run Sports Soft tires on it, and it will still stick through the turns because of its active downforce (suction). It isn't the fastest, but with SS tires, you don't have to make any pit stops, so it gains about a minute on the competition right there. :)

Put your drivers in the other race-Spa- and then you will have plenty of dough to buy cars. I use the Mobil 1 NSX and it wins every time. Can't say the same about this dreadful race :(.

Raced it twice with my 2J, won both times. First stint I actually did on racing hards even though I chose Sport Softs. I only noticed on the 7th lap that I had the wrong tyres. :D Was 5th in the end of 9th lap when everyone in front of me pitted, got first and won by like 4 seconds :P Second round was much easier because I got to lvl 31 after the first race and actually used the correct tyres this time :D

Easy money. Bought the Ford MK IV race car yesterday and the green Jag today.

Used 2J with sports Soft and a stage 3 Turbo.
Lvl 34 Bob
0 Pit stops
Came 3rd with a time of 40:45, 13s behind Bentley Speed 8
I was in 5th on lap 8 so pitting for fresh Bob and tyres wouldn't have helped I don think.
Kept Bob on ~65% dropping to 50% on lap 5 and further to 45% on lap 9
Disappointed :(

I found that keeping the Bob at a level where he isnt roasting the tires out of the turns will be most beneficial. Any point below that where they are essentially "taking their time" will result in slower laps.

At 50% or less, my guys were cautiously rolling into the throttle. But at 55-60% they were getting on the power more quickly, but there was still no wheelspin before the TCS kicked in. I was able to gain a lot of ground once I figured that out. Any point above that, they were slamming the rev limiter as they roasted the tires coming out of the corners.

I was able to take 1st using the Audi R8, Stg3 Turbo with reduced aero and stock weight (900kg) to get to 700pp. Pit on Lap 3 for RIs then kept him at 50-60% for the win.

You don't need to pit at all. Stage 3 turbo, top speed set to 230mph and sport softs.
Also in the two or three other threads regarding the b-spec races, this solution has been mentioned as well.

i set it to 230 and he tops out right before he is about to pass a group of cars. should be 250 not 230

After about ten tries in various cars (Minolta, Pescarolo, 2 R8s but NOT 2J) and various strategies (Sport Softs, 1 Bob, 2 Bob, no pit, 1 pit, 2 pit), I finally did it.

Bobs Lvl. 37 & 31.
Audi R8 Race Car (Audi PlayStation Team ORECA) ‘05.

Strategy:
Started on Bob Lvl. 37 and Racing Hards. Pushed him to about 80% of the "heat meter" and maintained him there. He quickly went to P4.

Pitted on Lap 2 for Racing Inters and driver change to Bob Lvl. 31. When exiting the pits, maintained heat meter 50-60% through Dunlop curves on cold tires. Pushed to 80% at Tetre Rouge and maintained there. What cars didn't pit on Lap 2, pitted on Lap 3, Bob gained P1, which he kept until the next pit stop.

Pitted again on lap 7 for Inters again, and back to Bob Lvl. 31. Slipped to P4. Again, I kept him cool until Tetre Rouge. He then went to P3 on Lap 8, but in an inattentive moment by me, he let the P4 R10 behind him push his heat to 100%, and he spun in the Porsche curves. His new tires were well-worn from the spin, and he spun again in the esses before Tetre Rouge. Tires were now mostly shot, but we still had 2 laps, and everyone ahead had yet to pit a second time.

I kept him 60-70% hot for the remainder of the race. He climbed back up to P3, and then to P1 when the leaders pitted on Lap 9. Had a healthy lead until the finish.

Thank you fourliter! After countless tries with many different cars and set ups I won it with your set up and strategy. Only variation is I used mid turbo. It was almost too easy staying in first or second for most of the race and finished with a 12 second lead. Used the Audi R8 Oreca 05. Something to be said for keeping your drivers cool! Though I was down to threads at the finish with only 4 laps on the RI's. Correction-that would be 3 laps with the fresh RI's.

Anyone got a good gear ratio setup for the r8 playstation racer? Can't do it just now! Any other tips?

You're very welcome. Thanks also to all those who posted their R8 tips in this thread before I did, and to bermudakid for the tune.

For me, I left the final drive and individual gear ratios at default settings and then adjusted the top speed to 400 km/h (250mph). Someone else might have some better tips, but that's all I have.
