Last time I went out for some fun in the snow i ended up backwards in a ditch. Unfortunately that's not a lie.

You don't lose any points for that unless you spill your beer, I've been looking into fitting boat cup holders in my car becuase I usually end up in situations like this:

I was not hurt in the posting of this video

I think it's probably a good thing we both don't live in the same town Tor, are you the pilot in any of these? Are you driving the Nova @ 3.57?

Nobody cares, we are however concerned that the booze may have been injured. :nervous:

Like this one where many baby wines were harmed.

I've had a few off-road moments but nothing the old Subaru wouldn't drive out of. :gtpflag:

Awesome racing there Brandon, Big respect for keeping it really clean behind ... Lets hope we see many more of these battles on Sunday. :D

Thanks. It took a long time and a lot of practice/screw ups for me to be able to race like that. I'm certainly not perfect and still seem to bump someone every race but never on purpose. But I seem to really struggle at this track and did a lot of spinning so I apologize in advance for any incidents on Sunday. :nervous:

Sorry I had to shoot off guys, a buddy forgot to put the handbrake on their van when they parked and subsequently ran over their own foot (I know), so I had to take them to hospital.

Well, I hope he's ok....and I'll leave it at that before I accidentally make a joke. :boggled:

Hobbsy beat your lap.

Yeah, and i really wanted to do this...

Im sure it would have been short lived though! ;)

So what kind of times are you guys running at trial mountain? I have had some mildly quick laps, but I just am struggling with the rocket right now. Almost any oversteer and I lose it. There weren't any physics changes in the last two weeks right? I assume there wasn't, but I am so out of control with the car it makes me wonder. So everyone watch out on Sunday, I will be the backwards blue car surrounded by the cloud of smoke.

Brandon mentioned the same thing during practice. I'm fairly sure this is entirely due to the extreme elevation changes and banking inherent on this track - I mentioned pad users might have a slight advantage here because of the generally more manageable control of unexpected oversteer. This aside everyone seems to be lapping pretty similarly ^check above video by Brandon^, me and Hobbsy have been hitting 32's and I'd like to get them consistent for Sunday ... we'll see if that actually happens though :P.

I very much doubt i will will be in the 32's consistantly, it took alot of focus to nail that lap together. A lot of things need to right for it to happen, mid 33's and i'd be happy.

With regards physics, personally i feel like the car has less weight/mass, or is more affected by unloading the tyres, i.e. going over bumps, crests etc... my advice to anyone struggling to keep the back end inline, is come off the power a little, especially when going over crests etc. If you keep it nailed its gonna spin up.

I agree with all of that, I'd also add that I'm having more control making sure the cars perfectly straight before I hit a crest (hill after tunnel left hander specifically!)

EDIT: Set laps to 28 for the race - give me a shout if this isn't OK for anyone but should total roughly 45 minutes of racing. I'm also cutting qually down to 15 minutes as i think 20 minutes is a bit unnecessary really.

All good by me.

And yes, also finding that if the car lands with too much skew... you're screwed!

Oh, the Mountain is tough. 1:36.xxx is the best I've managed so far, but I'm finding it harder to be consistent. So many wee bumps to catch you off guard and with the car being so light, around we go!

Still, it's bloody good fun! 👍

You're not on your own pal, this is a tough one and I don't think anyones getting 'consistent' times just yet :P. It is fun though, that seems universally agreed by everyone; I have a feeling Hobbsy's race report is going to include a LOT of wall incidents this week...

I think it's because the tracks is so bumpy, I probably have at least 2 wheels in the air for 30% of the lap. Makes it hard to turn/brake when you're only using half your tires. And because the bumps are so random and plentiful it's hard to know when you're going to go airborne and occasionally when I land I'm just a touch sideways which makes me go all the way sideways. I know not to apply throttle under these conditions but I get caught off guard by them and don't have time to lift.

There are a few other issues too. I have a hard time seeing some of the turns and end up taking a different line through them every lap. Some of the banking also makes the back end of my car come loose during breaking but I can usually manage it.

In practice I was spinning 3 out of every 4 laps and usually the one clean lap was high :30's/low 40's. Best was a :33.02 but only had two out of about 25 laps in the :33's. Oddly enough though I seem to do fine under race conditions, probably because I'm not pushing 100% all the time during the race. So I still have somewhat decent hopes for the race.

^Got to agree with you on basically all those points, doesn't warrant being too smooth here. You're thrown about so much it forces a 105% driving style rather than a 99% one ... if that makes any sense :boggled: (it does to me). As for lines, I'd say the tracks wide enough most the time to pick from a few and take home more or less identical times, though blind corners never help of course...

I am going to guess we see 5+ crashes or spins. Hopefully not all mine. On another note I do hope to do well and Brandon, chase, hobbsy and all you other fast guys I'm coming for you this weekend!

I just did about 20 laps and thanks to neuroplasticity my spin rate has dropped drastically and I was able to dip into the :32's a few times with a best of 1:32.5x. I was up almost .4 tenths on that before a spin off the last turn.

I think if someone can pull off consistent 1:33.3 they would have a really strong chance. To be honest if one could do consistent 1:33.6 I think that could likely win. I can run that fast but consistency is another story.

It won't make it easy ,but trying hold consistent lap of 1:31,07 make no sense !!
Probably must satisfied with 1:32,5--- to make it, faster causes many mistakes!!

Speedy, did you get those times offline? If so, your times should be 1-2 seconds higher online. Still good though!

Even offline that's really fast. I did a few laps online and off and I was only .2 faster offline. If I had to guess I would say offline is probably around .8 -1 second slower at this track.
