Haha yes I know of these silly goings on in the valley lol. I once had a drunk guy step out in front of me in the valley I nearly hit the dude!

Funnily enough I went for a drive through the valley in my car on Thursday night, it was all nicely polished and looking awesome as always lol. There was this new Porsche, I don't know what model except it was a new 911 - it had something like brrrrrr on the plate - that pulled out of a side street and was just coasting along, and I passed him just cruising along. I look over and he has some HOT bird in the passenger seat and I was smiling away - because I was looking at a nice new Porsche - and he just floors it takes off down Ann St at some wicked pace.

I had two thoughts. One was, holy crap that car sounded AMAZING and my god its fast! And my second was probably completely unfounded but in my little head I thought it was cool that a guy driving a brand new Porsche felt the need after seeing my car to show off lol. I was quite proud of that haha.

Oh nice! The only stuff we saw was cars still driving through the city after Harry's, all the old muscle which sound amazing!

Speaking of cars and hot birds, while we were taking photos a guy and his extremely hot girlfriend were already there in his newish FJ. They had the lights on, creating a kind of halo around it so that we couldn't see in it. They were there for most of the time we were, I can only imagine what was going on .

I am thinking of getting number plates now as it's not a huge side expense. I have come down to two options and would like some opinions:

JDM801/ JDM 801 (diamond seperator)
SUB135 (SUB13 is taken)

I am currently leaning towards subies at it is understandable to a larger audience. It is also able to be used on another Subie if my next car is one.

JDM boy is a bit more of a personal thing though, which is also able to be used on any japanese car I buy.

Thoughts?

EDIT: You guys can help create one at ppq.com.au

KYL395 could be another option, Kyle '95.

RLY 555? A nod to the 555 Subarus and it's generation correct too.

Just not model correct...

Oh and I wouldn't go with anything involving 'JDM'. Just makes it look like you are trying to fit in with the crowd, everyone seems to be getting all obsessed with the term 'JDM' like its so badass, even though it just means Japanese Domestic Market. Not very original. Whenever I see someone with a JDM sticker on their car I instantly think of them as a trendy, not a real enthusiast

Yeah I can see people doubting the use of RLY 555, it's far from a car worthy of or suited to such a plate .

This is good feedback, I would much rather a nod from car people like yourself rather than negative stuff. It's the same with the lights, put Altezza's on and all the ricer kids will nod you, put proper lights on and you'll get nods from people that know the car (has happened already!).

SUB135 seems to be the way to go. The car will look much nicer with dark blue slim lines and everyone knows what it means, not being too out there :P.

Looks like I'm just buying stuff as they are available, pouncing on good deals I guess.

I just purchased a wrx spoiler, it's already blue and is higher than what I have. The back end of this car will look pretty schmick, especially dropped a little with some nice stance on new wheels.

Unfortunately there's not alot I can do to make the front look any better, being a pre facelift model but whatever!

This is a similar spoiler:

It arrived today and I installed it about an hour ago!

It looks really nice, got the WRX look I was going for. I was just going through old photos and found one of the back beforehand, so i'll include that here. The improvement is pretty big for only 2 changes. Numberplates might have to come along soon to finish the backend and wheels will need to be found soon because that would really help the look of the whole thing.

Old lights and spoiler:

Sorry that they are only facebook quality!

Okay I splurged and spent the maximum amount I was willing to spend on wheels and got myself some genuine bronze Volk SE37's with fairly new tyres (90%).

Threw them on today and despite still sitting a little high it looks much better!:

Thats sitting next to my mates Challenger.

The new tyres are apparently really cheap but they handle so many times better than the rubbish I had on before! Happy with the result :).

Yeah they do sit high. Maybe some lowering unless you're going for a rally look.

Funny cause someone on facebook said exactly that.

The car sat that high beforehand, it really didn't gain anything with these new wheels.

You'd almost be able to drive over that Mitsi, lol. Nice first car though! I had an '04 Legacy(Liberty) 30R with an STI 6speed manual. Subaru do make a nice car! Well done

It looks a heap betterer with the new wheels! Now you need to lower it so people don't think its a wannabe 4WD. :P

Was just given one of the photos from a few weeks ago overlooking the city (somewhat in this photo). I am going to try and get the rest in the next few weeks. This is before the new wheels and spoiler obviously:

I think some of the rest may have turned out a bit better too, it was his dads camera.

Don't do it! For real, there will always be an opposite and I say no, since it needs to show the gravel whos boss! :)

If it had mud flaps, a turbo, bonnet scoop, roll cage, racing seats, then I agree, you could get away with this ride height and people would think its high because Rally Car. Right now people will just think it looks like a tidy Impreza riding insanely high on some nice rims. Which it is :P

Get some springs man and lemme chuck those bad boys in for ya!

!

How much should it drop? There are some lower springs on rexnet for 140, 30mm drop.

Anyway, anyone who hasn't read the 'When was your first crash thread', mine was today. I was stopping at a green light in congested traffic as the intersection was blocked and I think that's law here. A lady a fair distance behind me was supposedly looking at fuel prices and didn't see me stop. By the time she did she was out of luck and hit me at maybe 15-20km/h.

We pulled over and swapped details etc, she will admit fully to it and her insurance will cover any costs to fix mine. On first inspection it doesn't seem too bad, I was off the brakes trying to get out of the way, so the car didn't take the full force that it would with brakes on. The bumper is pushed right back (will probably end up with a replacement) and the muffler cracked as that would have been the first thing she hit.

So before the inspection on Monday it looks like I will be in for a new bumper and new muffler + twin tip (they will replace it with what was on it before hand, pre crash state). There is a picture here but I took it quickly so it really isn't great. The mark on top of the bumper was caused by this also.

Gutted bro. Sucks when you're in a crash caused by someone else. 30mm isn't alot, you'd want to go 40-50. 30 will still make that look a bit high IMO!

Do coilovers, seriously. You will regret it going with a fixed minor drop in the long run, when you've adjusted to the height and would like to take it down a notch :)

Oh, and not to be a d!ck but the section below the driver's side tail took a hit if you haven't noticed, gaps around the boot lid could also seem to be different from the last pic you posted. Hard to tell from pics, but word of advice is do NOT settle for only a bumper replacement, bud.

I don't think I could spend another 1000 on any single mod for this car. There isn't really any way to justify it as 1000 for me is alot being a student and the cars insured value is 3.5, with the actual value probably still being 5.5.

Next year I think I'll be working full time so I might end up selling this and buying a new car.

You may be right about the tail light boot alignment actually. It's quite close to the visible paint damage so yes, I'll take a look at that.

Does not matter if the car is worth the upgrade. I've put $1000 coilovers on a $100 car. The car is long gone but the coilovers are still worth good money :)

I'm with you Legendary, being as you are probably going to upgrade car soon enough anyway, and you aren't doing it for a handing upgrade as much as a looks upgrade, I would just get the lowest springs you can get and shove them in. Anything will look better than what it is now lol, no offence

Sorry for the late reply but looks like im in for new shocks and springs + a guard rolling. The new wheels hit the guards even at this height .

Here are two average pictures from the other night:
