Want to drive the Great Ocean Road with me? I'm starting in Adelaide going along the coast to Melbourne. :sly:

That would actually be pretty damn fun; though the coastal route from Adelaide is a bit boring in terms of road it's got some decent scenery in it. And then of course the GOR :D of course one of Australia's best known travel destinations. Some good bits of road there too.

My home town is smack bang in the middle of the two cities. You'd be going through it on the way to Melbourne.

If you see a Micra on the wrong side of the road that's me lol.

I drove the GOR last year actually. Amazing road.

Okay I have quite a few pictures to put up of the repairs and just a couple of the car as it is now :).

Here's the car, obviously still needs a lower which is on its way (purchased).

^^ (Horribly rashed rear wheel)

^^(Close up, they are all a little rashed but that's the only wheel i've done. I only did half of that and it's pretty bad)

And a bit closer on the repairs, the indicator will be replaced on Friday:

^^No marks along the front at all for a change.

^^Good shot from the side that wasn't hit showing how clean it is now.

^^Resprayed bonnet.
The next two images show the corner that was hit. There is actually a bit of an issue with the repair, I didn't notice it yesterday but there is a fairly noticeable gap between the headlight and front bar. It may not have been there yesterday but driving may have caused it to drop down, which they wouldn't have seen coming, having not given it a drive. I'll speak to them about it when the indicator gets put on.

So yeah, that's where it's at now. Looks very nice except for a few minor things and will look even better when it's lowered soon :)👍.

Only problem with the GOR is the multiple speed cameras and lazy, slow driving tourists. I much rather the twisty roads in the outskirts of Melbourne without the scenery, plus there's some neat dirt roads there too. You can also push it a little without ever exceeding the speed limit too, which is a massive plus.

Kyle you really need a mesh grill to set the front end off a little.

Went to the December Downshift meet yesterday, there was a good turn out of 1000+ cars. Not many people have photos up yet but here are a couple from different photographers, I know the Zack guy.

Not sure how long that second image will last.

EDIT: I also took this guys N/A R34 for a drive and honestly, it wasn't that bad. It looks kinda stupid with that black bonnet but its had alot of money spent on it and was running fairly expensive soft tyres. Thats another option for a new car next year.

I got taken for a ride back before I had my license in a pretty nice boosted R34. Great cars in my opinion, plus the GT-T's throw out a fair bit of poke.

Definitely worth checking out.

This one was supposedly a GT-T at some stage but had the turbo removed to make it P plate legal. I guess it also would have gotten retuned so that it's not completely useless.

The guy is 17 or 18 but damn, he is loaded.

Hope you're having and do have a good Christmas too mate .

Merry Christmas to you too mate :D

To be honest that Skyline with the hood and the writing on the tyres isn't my cup of tea but nicely modified 34s are the bomb to look at. Wish I could have had a go in this one:

Yeah it's not something i'd do if I owned one. As a car enthusiast though it's just one of those things, you look at it and it may not be what you like but you just respect that it's not your type and move on. That's what separates enthusiasts from fanboys, the ability to look past the differences.

If I were to buy one it would be modded much the same as what I have now, with factory type things (GTR kits or something), im not into the whole crazy body kit and wing thing.

There are skylines everywhere! I saw 2 today in Adelaide...more than I've seen in years back home. Also I'm noticing that every Subaru I've seen is loud, although for some reason all cars are sounding louder. Different noise laws perhaps.

Anyways have a nice xmas!

Yeah well that happens when the government doesn't ban an affordable sports car ;).

That raises an interesting point actually, almost every Subie I see has some exhaust modification that makes noise! You have a good one too mate, down under .

Makes me miss mine. I'll be ordering a new exhaust system when i get home that's for sure!

Oh, you owned a Skyline once?

Haha, really?! Doo eeet! 👍.

EDIT: Also, make sure to get a turbo back system. I hear they give some pretty decent gains with a nice tune.

Oh no I meant the sound of all the Subarus around here make me miss mine lol.

I already have a downpipe so all I'll need is the cat back and it will be full turbo back and sound awesome. :)

Yeah, I know. I got an improved catalytic converter (engine light,) and my 2005 sounds beautiful. Legendary, you've got the EJ25-, too, right? I think so, but, I don't know the Aussie-spec GC8s as well...

Edit: 2.0. The sound might be slightly different, but, I doubt the difference is huge.

Yeah just a 2.0 but its still got a nice throaty boxer sound, just not the deep rumble that you get from the UEL Headers.

Apparently, I might be about to get that deep, throaty sound, myself. Again, apparently, a few exhaust upgrades are legal in Stock class; according to a guy who's never run Stock class.

But, that would be quite nice.

Which suspension did you order? From whom?

I bought used 98 (?) WRX Shocks with King Low springs. A member from here is holding them for me while we try and work out a way to get them here, they are deceivingly heavy and awkward to post.

In other news people, I went and bought a proper DSLR for myself so we can expect to see some more/ better photos :). Here's a couple from today, i'm still a super noob so some lighting and stuff needs work.

Darn, you beat me to the new camera! Mine's coming on sale (again,) in 2 hours and 22 minutes! (GoPro)

Oh, and, the rules and regulations for the Stock class in autocross allow for upgraded exhaust. This link proves it: scroll to Section 13.10E.

And, lastly, Mightycarmods is awesome.

Ah, I want one of those too but it may have to wait a while, this took a big dent out of the savings!

Do it, Subaru's sound amazing with exhaust upgrades :).

Mightycarmods is also Australian, i'm proud to be one ;)!

Mate, I'm about to be broke. I e-mailed Borla...

And, my mate with the RX-7 has asked me to pick up a second GoPro, for him. So, I guess I'll have a LOT of things to buy, rather shortly.

I really can't wait, though. I'm going to use the GoPro to record the original engine notes, (from inside and outside,) and compare them to after the exhaust upgrades.

And, yeah, hip-hip-hooray for Australia!!!!!

I had to. V8 Supercars  Artistic madness, really.
