Actually no, I was just expecting to be a little weaker than it actually is. Nice details too.
All Lego is strong like bull! even my flimsy looking coaster. The thing's rock solid (there's much to be said about lateral reinforcement poles). :D

That looks great! hsv. I love how Lego are making great use of those body panel parts. I think that's the best Technic car model iv'e seen them do to date.

@Downhill Dino

You should still post them, i think some of the little models are genius (clever ways of using limited amount of bricks).

Talking of smaller things...

I had a crack at two tiny little Dakar buggies, seeing as we're just getting underway with the real thing.

And as the 31st was the 50th anniversary of the Bluebird K7 record, and today is the anniversary of Donald Campbell's death, I made a little tribute. :)

@hsv I have a question, does that little gear at the top do something or is it just there?
Hand of God steering. 👍

There's one at the side that operates the doors and engine cover, via a clutch.

Very nice looking set. Even though, I think that it could look even better with a tail-fin, as the front resembles 2014 spec cars.
I made a little one, I'll post pics tomorrow. ;)

Every time I visit this thread it reminds me that I need to go to my parents house and pickup my old Lego stuff.

Went on a small scavenger hunt in my parents basement and found a couple of my Lego build sheets :

Top left of first photo is what I think my first Lego Technics. I think I was 4 or 5 when I got it.

I had that one, too. :D

Best Lego ever.

I've been looking for an old set 8854, I wanted to buy that and there was only 1 set left in Hilversum at the time, and when I finally had the 140 Gulden saved it was sold. I was heartbroken.

But now I found a new set for sale.

179 Dollar.

That's a bit too much for me.

Also.

Little update on the Lego coaster.

I have to say, it's actually quite hard going trying to build this thing.. The third party ('Roller coaster factory' / 'Coaster Dynamix') coaster parts are awesome, but not exactly easy to work with. I've managed to stress a few of the track ties (small fiddly bits that join the rails together) and iv'e managed to kink one of the rails (trying to bend it too severely). Iv'e also had a slight problem when i decided to increase the steepness of the chain-lift (dogs on the bottom of the cars wouldn't quite catch the chain link). However, i have managed to increase the steepness of the chain-lift by a further 10-15 degrees, after a little bit of trial and error. Another thing is, iv'e discovered i can only use 6 of the 8 baseplates i planned on using (space issue). If i ever win the lottery, i'll have a whole room dedicated to Lego, and the floor of that room will be entirely covered in baseplates.

The coaster is still in it's early stages of the build (plan on having a loop eventually). So all iv'e done is the chain-lift (fitted the motor as well), the small roll-in (rolls in beautifully) and the beginning of the first drop. It works rather nicely so far, apart from the cars shattering into pieces, if i fail to catch it before it starts that first drop.

The height is just under 3ft at it's highest point.

And yes, that is a vertical drop.

Wow I am shocked that the Lego Movie has been snubbed by the Oscars nominations. It was probably a clear candidate to win seeing as it's got depth and is technically excellent. Plus it gets old seeing Disney and Pixar win everything.

Awesome Oscar. 👍

I'm struggling to come to terms with a family crisis going on at the moment in my life, so i figured a spot of Lego therapy may help take my mind off things....

Some may remember the Go-Kart i did:

It now has a family.

*There's a certain amount of symbolism attached to this, but i won't go into details*

I use to have that Technic 8620 set. I just found the guy recently ... granted, he's missing an arm now.

I wish that they still had those guys available.

I was bored so I decided to build an LMP (~ 2010 rules) with the Lego Digital Designer. I like it, now I only have to go gather the bricks via Pick a Brick and Amazon one by one. This is so very annoying and success is not guaranteed.

I tried to make it as aerodynamically sound as possible, including the front and rear floor diffusers. Still needs a a bit touching-up but its largely finished.

The rear bodywork can be removed to reveal the engine, gearbox, exhaust and airbox. Sadly I lack the skills to put a decent rear suspension in there because there is no space.

So, made a few mods to the nose, the front underwing air tunnel exits, colors and smoothed up some blocky parts. Now its finished, I'm already ordering the parts. Only 1000 of them, lol.

Why don't you put that on the Lego product votey thingy?

I actually just wanted to do a quick build, I have no plans on posting it on a voting site. Maybe later when I have all the parts and built physical version of it.
