Off topic: Is it possible to completely hide a wireless network? What I mean is, when you have your wireless card, you can search for networks whether they're private or open. But, can you hide it, to where it will not show up when they search?
Basically, you don't know it's there unless you type in the name, and password, and join the network.
Any help?
You can hide the SSID (there are some lower-end routers where that option isn't available). But this won't completely hide the network. The network will always be available on a scan. With the SSID hidden, though, all they can tell is the channel. With more sophisticated tools, they can tell the direction and pull down the packets.
I don't know if this is related to the PS3 at all, but someone could use the same channel, even if they aren't on the same network. They could then generate traffic on their own network that will cause interference with yours.
