*looks at spreadsheet*

Well, it looks like the series has been taken over by the germans!

Ohgods! I'm so sorry. That was not supposed to be published. I don't want that to affect anyone else's choices.

My secret weapon has arrived... :sly:

I'll send you the info later garris.

I think that we need to change this series into the Fit/Jazz CVT spec racing series. I would love to hear a field of 16 of them droning at the same engine speed for an hour!

The preseason race is tomorrow night. Please, make sure I'm on your friend's list. Feel free to join me tonight if you wish. I'll be practicing, though I may be doing it in my touring car for a little while.

Please, send me your car information, particularly if you can't make the race. Anyone that fails to declare their car before the race will be stuck pulling from cars that aren't already being used.

I tried widening the generated track...but with sport soft tires (the ones we will use during the season) the track lost its luster. As I expected, it straightened out some of the tricky turns and a good portion of it ended up just being full throttle.

So the track will stay as is, you can download it from my community page within GT5.

I promised myself I wouldn't run one. So I'm staying true to that. Next season though... Mwahahahahaha.

I'd have to mute the audio to be able to run one of those. If one gets to running tight with me on the track, I might just have to put it into the wall so I don't go crazy! :)

Was wiifreak the only one to see that? I totally missed it.

I'm guessing so. Which is okay, one of the drivers that was listed with a car has since changed his mind. Which is completely fine with me. I won't change my mind (I don't think it is fair now that I know what others are picking).

Don't think I'll make the race tonight... Going to a concert that starts at 8pm...I'll pop into the room for some touring cars (or more lemons) after maybe.

Have fun!

I'm going to TRY to make it tonight, have some school stuff I have to take care of. Should be a good race.

Wiifreak wasnt the only one :D however only a couple drivers were listed. Was that really BTKs secret weapon? *shudder*

and now a prayer,
Kaz, please help us all to avoid any accidents forthcoming from wayward german engineering. help us to find our way through and when there is no way...help us to ensure receiving a minimal amount of damage from drifters.

in kaz we pray,

ikea...amen

Just some shots from the last race of last season I forgot about.

At speed.

I'm going offline (shock and horror). I won't be back until the race tonight. I hope to be online by 9 Eastern, if not earlier. The room will be reset for qualifying at 9:30 and the race will start at 10.

Tonight doesn't count toward the season, but cars are due by the race start.

Keep in mind the new DLC will be available tonight at 5:00PM EDT. It is possible an update will be required before you can sign on...so try to get on a few minutes early so you don't miss the start of the race.

Any of you vets want to give pit advice to a newb? How many laps will tonight's race be? How long should these cars be able to go? (FF for me probably)

The first race or two can go either way. One pit stop or no pit stop. You've got to keep track of your lap times to decide which route to go. Lap times start to drop fast as tire wear dips below 80%. Your last lap after an hour of racing could be up to 5 seconds slower than your best lap...so if you've got 4 or 5 of those in a row, someone with fresh tires will catch you. But then again, it could be only 2-3 seconds slower...in which case it might be worth the risk.

pit strategy will be drastically different this season since many of the cars are lightweights... an FF with good control (lookin' at you, WiiFreak) will go a long time on a set of tires before pitting. If you need 'em tho...get them! Don't try and go an extra lap or two on tires that are getting squirrely because those walls hurt with full damage on! Tonight's race shouldn't be too bad, but you don't want to understeer wide into the grass, which will take time to get out of..

Don't push too hard - patience is always better than trying to get out of a corner harder/faster than you can.

Car control/feel has a great deal to do with tire wear. Last season on Autumn Ring, I was able to get by pretty easily with 1 pit in the FF FTO while others in the same car had to take an extra stop. If you are willing to race at 85-90% rather than at the limit, you can gain probably 10-15% more laps by the end. Avoiding full lock and overtaking on straights go a long way.

I would also like to add for the new folks that should you get damage, the pits are the best answer. Even if your car is biblically quick and you think "Hey I'm still able to go just as fast as the guy behind me and I'm already 10 seconds ahead." Thats fools logic. Cars are not meant to run with damage and once the tires/suspension are compromised and the wear is uneven, you could go round at any corner and take yourself and someone else (probably me if history is any indicator) out of contention.

A small solid circle on your rear tires, not that big a deal. But damage always has friends and their bestie is Engine failure. Nothing like having a small fender bender causing you and someone else a lap 200% there normal time.

If you're in doubt....PIT PIT PIT. We will all thank you later or immediately for those of us with mics.

Anyone have a higher mileage New Beetle they wouldn't mind sending me? My test Beetle is over 30K miles, but all of the others I'm finding are around 16K miles, so they have one PP too many.

BTK
It seems no matter what we do, we both end up with it at least once a season.

Last season it was Cujo on Daytona when his ladyfriend walked in front of his TV causing him to blast me off on 2nd corner (falling from 2nd to LAST)...season before that Sli3ghtaru, you and I all had a major cluster:censored: early on (Grand Valley maybe) and in the first season I had trouble with Garris on Daytona and Cape Ring (twice).

....Diabolic never forgets :mischievous:

I've updated the spreadsheet. Drivers who did not pick a car before this race must pick a car that is not already being used.

Yes - I'm driving the van! Get in the back, and shut it...we'll be there, when we're there!

This is gonna be epic. :mischievous:
