As for the track selection, I'm not a fan of le Sarthe, but the rest of the tracks will be a welcome change.

We ran London last night on CS tires. Very difficult to pass, even if you are faster. I can't wait to see how it pans out.

Is the Lemons Country Club Racecourse (I like my name better :)) Huyler's track?

You weren't driving a Volkswagen on British soil. Thats why you couldn't pass.

yes. As requested I will widen the track this weekend and it will be shared for everyone to download from my profile page.

my vote: keep published race schedule as is

regarding the 1960's lemons:

do any 1960's cars have a turbo option, or are they all unable to upgrade with a turbo?

also, over the course of the entire season, how disadvantaged is someone, such as myself, who will perhaps be middle of the pack, if i choose a car that has no turbo option?

by the end of the season, even if i install all possible upgrades, will i still be much slower than the others who have turbo options?

i'm asking because my first choice is one of the 60's FR cars, but i don't want to have a miserable season either

and i would prefer not to drive an FF, but i will if that is the only way to keep me relatively competitive

any advice/suggestions?

thanks

I currently have the non-widened track shared, as does Huyler. You can download it from either of us and practice. As soon as Huyler updates it, I'll copy and republish it, too. Though, I imagine all of you have Huyler on your friend's list.

LOTS of 60's car's have options to turbo. Just ask someone if they have one. I have a 65' Silvia you can have, if another person doesn't take it.

Only way that will work is if we stick penalties on, and I don't have a problem with that since there is no place to receive one

Can we take a vote on how many sprints we do? I think a long 2 sprint would 10x better racing, because it actually gives time for people to work their way up.

It would dangerous to have 16 people go bag deep (go hard for those people who are confused by Kentucky lingo) for 5 laps. Someone will get crashed, and they will not brake entering a turn next sprint race. I can see it now...

Sprint races. There, hopefully, won't be lap traffic.

Has the format for the sprints been nailed down? Will it be reverse grid from previous race...add up points at end then based on those results, hand out the actual championship points.

I like diabolic's points idea, but think it should be multiple short SPRINT races... Who the hell sprints "long"?? I think you're missing the point of this format.. Reverse grid too..this isn't a grind to the front, its a quick shot.

Why not do points cut down, and add finishes of each sprint?
Example

1st-10 points
2nd-9
3rd-8
4th-7
5th-6
6th-5
7th-4
8th-3
9th+-2 points

It will make the points much closer to a normal race. I highly doubt anyone will win 4 races and claim 40 points. But this will make it easier to add points together instead of averaging positions.

Dunno yet... What are u running?

I imagine 1'15 at tsukuba...but I'm basing that on 1'10s in the 375 cars..

For Tsukuba based on some of my testing, I would say anything in the 1.15s is pretty darn fast. I was pretty consistent with low 1.16s in my car of choice tonight.

Short is good... 6-8 laps maximum. Any longer and the fast cars..even if they are at the back could win every race. (Personally I'm in favor of that...the best car wins, but if you all want to handicap folks, short is the way to go)

over 7 straight laps at tsukuba, i'm managing 1:18.xx every time, low to mid range

i used the nissan bluebird

usually i'm about 2-3 seconds slower than the fastest drivers, so that puts me about where i should be, if 1:16 is the average time

I really want to run the Mitsu MIRAGE 1400GLX '78 just because it is a hunk of junk...but I think i'd be shooting myself in the foot by picking it. I need to run a few more tests (probably tonight) before I make my final decision.

As others have mentioned, the point is not to work your way up. The point is not to win every race. It is to have the best average. Worst case scenario, you qualify first and win, then you start last and lose, qualify first and win, start last and lose...etc. More likely, a fast driver in a fast car will place first, then mid-pack, then first, then mid-pack. A fast driver in a slow car will probably end up mid-pack every race, but with some blocking and clean lines they could finish a little higher a few times.

In lemons racing, after a few races certain drivers have incredibly fast cars and can win races without much challenge. This adds that challenge back in. It takes more than a fast car to get around someone at London. You'll be faced with aggressive drivers in front of you and behind you. I think it will be the most action packed evening in the series.

Most of the better cars I tested were on the newer side of the year regulations. I think it would be interesting for the next season (not to get that far ahead), but to maybe change the starting PP back to 365 but limit the year of the car to something like 1989. Just thoughts.

*looks at spreadsheet*

Well, it looks like the series has been taken over by the germans!
