What's your rig?

And are you just using the paddles for racing? Or a sequential shifter?

I use a Fanatec GT2 with Clubsport pedals. Online in GT5 I'm usually using the paddle shifters. I might change it up though and try the sequential+clutch this week.

I also made a handbrake out of cut up bits of a hockey stick and attaching it to the analog stick on my ds3 with a paper clip, with tension provided by rubber bands  It works surprisingly well and makes drifting 1000x more fun.

Me? I have a DFGT with a wheelstand pro. I use the paddles to shift.

I can't heel-toe IRL because my feet are too big and my legs are too long. I do blip the throttle with my foot when I'm not on the brake though. If I don't rev-match my Mazdaspeed6 it can be a very unpleasant experience.

Oh, adding to mine, I don't have a cockpit. I just clamp my wheel to my desk and sit in a chair, luckily the dimensions work out pretty well. 21.5" computer monitor (1920x1080)

I play in a hallowed out chevy nova with a 33 inch monitor where the windshield goes. I had the ebrake working on the car but it broke a while back and I haven't been able to fix it. Also, i use the dfgt sequential shifter with a leather shift boot mounted on some wood blocks. Looks decent.

I may not win this thing, but I'm happy knowing I'll beat at least one of you (more hopefully) who've invested $$$ in wheel set-ups. Yep, I'll be in front on someone by the end of this pairing an automatic transmission with my DS3 regular X for gas, square for brake, O for E-brake and the D-Pad to steer and it feels good.

I do sit in a captain's chair pulled from a 2010 Honda Odyssey, but that was Free. My screen is the family room 32" LCD, hence why most nights I'm not on till later.

Honestly, I'd expect nothing less coming from you

It seems like only Diabolic and I understand the correct way to use a DS3 for driving. Buttons FTW! Just throw in L1 for downshifting and R1 for upshifting and you've got it perfect.

Anyone have a problem if I switch my RS '99 with an RS '00? They are the same specs... I am trying to find a '99 in UCD but no luck so far. If anyone objects I will stay with the '99.

Reason being I installed an unwanted mod.

I might have your 99. I'll check and see. I don't mind gifting it to you.

If Vol isn't able to find it, I have a white one with 22,203.1 miles on it. It has no mods. I would be happy to send it, I would just like to back up my game save first.

Question - can we send cars right now with PSN down?

Edit - Nevermind, I just realized mine is a GSR. Is there a big difference between the RS and the GSR, as I see the used prices are similar? Sorry, I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to the Lancers. I will keep an eye out in the UCD for an RS though.

Thanks guys. I am cycling through now and the RS '00 and the GSR '99 have come up so many times lol

I think I will get it sooner or later..

And no, can't send with PSN down :(

I think someone mentioned a few pages back that the GSR has the Yaw control while the RS does not.

Yeah I did. I am asking if I can race my RS '00 instead of my RS '99. They are like for like aside from the name. RS '00 also doesn't have AYC.

i just checked.... psn still down... and my car is set to online so i cannot use it. i tried.

also, im torn with using the wheel versus the ds3. with racing tires, the wheel is king. however, it is hard to counter steer fast enough with a wheel with the comfort soft tires. ive found the ds3 is best for that.

also, i am different than all you with the ds3. i use the left analog stick to steer, but i use the buttons (x,square,0) for gas and brake and such. the buttons are pressure sensitive, and you can modulate the throttle if you do it right. the brake is hard, so i just mash in a straight line.

I'd say we need a unanimous vote by 5:00PM tomorrow to run the event. That means PSN has to be live and working by 5, which I highly doubt will be the case.

Got any pics grenade?

It was a joke. I find the details are what make lies seem like the truth. I really play in this below. :)

I made it a week or two after joining your rooms.

If you're ever running a track day in the NSX and put it in the wall ass first, that could turn into a nice cockpit...

On a side note, we all want PSN back online asap, but I think everyone can agree that we don't want Sony to rush this.

Edit: Who makes that seat?

It's a real racing seat I bought way back for one of my mustangs and never used. I think 3a Racing.

As to your other comment.
Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby! Don't you put that on us! You are NOT paralyzed!

I can't run the NSX at a track for a while. It seems the steering column is all messed up and no one makes them anymore. I need to have it taken out and rebuilt, but that is super expensive. It's fine for every day driving. Just it has kinks when you turn hard and an uneven pressure across the turning radius.

Again we are alike, sl3ight. As long as its Fixed...I mean "Lock-it-up" fixed...I can go another ten days....doesnt bother me. What I fear is a possible patchwork job resulting from PSn user applied pressure. Hopefully, Sony's more interested in helping us out vs Tween, Teens and those in between wanting to make sure they can play co-op games after mommy and daddy go to bed.

I actually PLAYED GT5 last night (vs just cycling the UCD) and on 1st attempt was able to silver the entire AMG academy special events. I'm looking to gold them tonight, but it may take a few additional trys. I was amazed how sloppy you could drive...especially in the rain, to attain silver. Way to easy.

Those AMG events are a blast, especially the 300SL in the rain. Controlled four wheel drifts everywhere!

On the bright side, this lack of GT5 has gotten me under my real car to sort out my sway bars. Would be nice if the S15 im running in this series responded to adjustments as well as my subie...

I did the AMG events a few days ago. Gold on the rain events is just a matter of keeping it on the track and reducing wheel spin. Gold on the first event was tougher than I thought it was going to be. The final sector was very tough. I have a lot of trouble slowing down after the straight. When I play it safe, I'm too slow, when I push for a fast time I miss the brake zone. The practice helped though because when I ran the full lap I got gold on the first try. I think I still have to gold the 2nd dry event.

Ha, I'll actually be under my Subie (and my wifes Civic) this weekend, but just to change the oil. I'm a bit nervous with the civic...we've gone 7K since I changed in last :(
Could be a hot mess.

What are you running Sl3ight? I tracked a modified '02 WRX wagon quite a bit, just sold it a couple years ago. The car was a blast once I had gutted most of the suspension and tightened up the rear end.

On both wet full laps, I was 2 seconds off gold first attempt. On the drys, I'm 4 secs and 7 secs off pace.

I've just got an '07 2.5i (4EAT ). It's my daily driver and I commute like 30 miles each way to school. 24mm sways front and back, other than that it's stock. When I have the money I'll do shocks and springs, then wheels and summer rubber. At the moment I'm getting ready for the next autox near me in a couple weeks.

It may help to watch some real videos with commentary of Nurburgring if you're having trouble finding time. This video helped me find lines through some of the double and triple apex turns. He says "one steering angle" which means if you hit the first apex right, don't move the wheel, keep it tight and you'll hit the 2nd apex perfectly.

Not as helpful, but interesting is this old video of the 'ring. It's interesting to see how much the track has been cut back. It almost looks like Deep Forest in the video.
