Yeah, the only way to put people on the same performance level would be to have performance points be the starting point. Its pretty obvious at mygt.net which cars are going to give you an edge. Just sort by price then scroll down to see which cars have high pp. You pay 50,000cr for something with 420pp but lower on the list is a 495pp car that only costs 35,000cr. I'm not sure why the pricing is off. Maybe it is just related to real world prices. Afterall, the new Camaro does give you a ton of power for its price.

What about if you limited the car choices, maybe one FF, one FR and one AWD that are all fairly balanced? The modification paths could all be different.

I know it takes a bit of the creativity out of the series, but it would tighten up the racing.

Fingers crossed that we are ready to go tonight, but I have officially stopped holding my breath!

it'd be a miracle if we could get this race in tonight lol

Maybe for next season we could come up with a starting price limit, find the highest PP car within that limit, then let everyone who doesn't chose that car tune up to that PP, not including upgrades that don't effect PP. Of course we would need to test out a bunch of scenarios to make sure the lap times are fair. For the remainder of the season we could use the same rules we have now (inverse relationship between position and prize credits).

Just an idea, don't know if it would work at all.

just checked... psn is still down at 731 pm. doubt there will be racing tonight as it is the middle of the night in JP.

i think next season we should lower the initial price to 20,000 cr.

it would keep the big 4wd cars out mostly.

This season isn't over, yet, so I think it is early to gauge what should be excluded. Keep in mind, the preseason race was won by an FR. The best driver in the first race was an FR. And while the Silvias didn't do too good a showing in the first race, they will likely mature better than several, if not all, of the AWDs.

The only thing I can say so far with any certainty is: I don't mind dropping the used car option, or going with something other than UCD prices. There were such dramatic discrepancies, and the rebuild and refurbish costs (24,000 Cr in my case, more than the car itself) aren't factored in. I'm not sure if new cars only is the right path, yet, but UCD prices aren't.

Yeah, I'm not looking to exclude any of the cars that are currently included. I'd just like to see a bigger collection of premiums available to use next season.

The best driver in the first race was an FR.

No, an AWD won.

i just figured the concept of buying a lemon was to pretty much have to buy a used car.

Fair point. How about a similar concept where we all start with the same stock car or choose from a list of "approved" cars (used or premium - I'm sure we could dupe the cars necessary for used), and then have a set budget for modifications. Given the budget of this current series, most people chose similar cars anyway. Aside from sl3ight and his Silvia :) Have a similar structure to pay the losers more than the winners and see how it pans out.

Grenade, the best driver was you. Even RedReevos didn't dispute that.

Edit: Anyway probably best that we don't open that can of worms again

Man, i really want to get this series going again. I'm running out of a-spec things to do. I'm down to the endurance races and FGT championship. I don't even have an FGT so i guess I'll just grind a few fun events to make some cash and hope it turns up in the UCD in a reasonable amount of time.

I went back to trying the vettel challenge, I'm definitely ready for PSN to come back up before I shoot myself trying to control that car with the ds3!

I got monza, but one try is Suzuka made me run away!

Yeah. My buddy keeps hounding me to play Left4Dead2 with him. I may have to join him since the only other options are refreshing the UCD and not buying the cars I want (waiting for the FGT) or attempting the X2010 challenge. Hmm...kill zombies or kill myself?

I've already tweaked my test car. I've started over tweaking it and it isn't getting faster.

The only time the PS3 has been on in my house sinec 4/27 is so my wife and I can use netflix. I have a feeling when it comes back my driving will be rubbish. I may drop out of the Lemons and just to the 450 races (if they are to continue)

I have to drop out of this series, i don't have the time to tune my car and figure out how to set it up with my schoolwork and internship. I will be doing the 450 pp races when i can!

I haven't been home, yet, but it sounds like PSN is back up. This week will be fun. My wife will be out of town on Wednesday so I have the kids by myself, and I'm on call this week. I should be able to make the race, but there are so many things that can call me away.

Well if PSN stays up, we're on for this Wednesday. I will update the OP with new dates for the races.

Booch, even if you dont have time to tune, you should still throw something together and join us if you are free. Same for you Diabolic. Dont worry about winning, just come and have some fun.

i'd have more fun doing whatever 450pp race is going on than be 5 laps down on a track with no one to race while i get lapped over and over again, with the only thing to look forward to is maybe getting a lap back if someone wrecks. If the cars were closer it could be fun, but endurance racing a turtle against a bunch of hares is pretty boring.

side not: my UCD has awesome cars right now.

I haven't been able to change my password, and the password site is down.

Ok, I got on last night. Password site appears to be up and down but everyone should be able to get on at some point and tune their cars before Wednesday.

So Round 2 will be Wednesday May 18th. Get your cars ready! Figure out your pit strategies. We'll be doing 60 laps at Cape Ring South.

Took me a couple tries with the password. I'm trying to run the Cappuccino Cup thats starting up, so I'm not sure if I'll have to back out of this series or that one. (Capps is possibly my favorite car to race in packs) If anything, I might continue on here just as a filler. I'll just keep my car a bit status quo and race for fun. I should be quick enough to remain out of folks way if my car is significantly worse than others. This is all an a BIG "if"

Just an edit: I will not drop out. I just will run w/o practicing...kinda fly by the seat of my pants racing. But dropping out...not an option

I was able to set my password today and get online. I ran in an online lobby today on Sports Hard tires. I was getting low 1:28s and high 1:27s. Not notably different than Comfort Softs in Practice mode. But, my fastest lap was a 1:26.380, which was nearly a second faster than my fastest in Practice, a 1:27.250.

I'm used to being a loser, so I won't drop out. But I'm guessing I wont be very competitive this week.
