Thunderstorm rolling through my area. The power already flickered off/on once, so if I suddenly drop from the race don't be surprised. Hopefully the storm will have rolled through once the race starts an hour from now.

It rains in Canada? Who knew? I have the same issue though, so I may dispurr

Oddly enough, I just looked out the window and maple syrup was falling. Then I saw Wiifreak on the roof eating pancakes. :D

Just got booted from public room ran by robwig69 because the title was 500PP street cars and I choose to run my '74 Lambo. He stops racing and says Mid engine not allowed and boots an Evora driver and then me. Just a tip...thats a pretty poor way to host.

That was a sweet race last night, wii freak and I battled for about 6 laps with him having damage, and my pit strategy to stay out front worked. So we raced for the last 13 laps playing cat and mouse. Last roundabout was sketchy, so I kicked sideways on purpose for us to be even. And last corner I somehow made it work on the outside. Excellent race wii, hell
Of a sportsman.

Good racing last night for the most part. I wish that early accident didn't occur. I would have been able to trail the leaders for most of the race without it. Bowtie has a weight advantage over me, but I've got the power to pass him (if he isn't drafting). Would have been nice to see the top 5 run bumper to bumper the majority of the race but with cars that close something is bound to happen. I'm uploading a video now. As pissed as I was, I think the people behind me got the worst of it.

To be fair, I think I probably got the worst of it, going from the lead to 12th after being hit into the wall. Now, I don't think I would've won, or probably even made the podium, but I certainly would've been a lot happier if I hadn't been forcibly removed from any chance of a top 5 finish on the third lap or so.

That said, I was quite happy with how my race went -after- the accident. I managed to work my way up to 6th by not pitting a second time, only getting damage once by being a bit too exuberant on 25 lap old tires with 2 laps to go, and dropping to 7th very soon thereafter by someone with presumably much fresher tires than I had.

What happened through there, was James and I were drag racing down that stretch, I lifted in fear of chuyler not reacting. When I did that James late braked and I hit the brakes knowing what would happen. It did, James slid through durandal, ad I thought chuyler could clear. You didn't, still not sure why.

They got jammed up on the wall nose to bumper, and I was just following in line not expecting the car in front of me to come to a complete stop right on the driving line. I clipped him, and it gave me double-circle damage on my right corner. I had no intention of making any late braking passes. I was fine as long as the cars in front of me weren't breaking away. I figured there would be a few accidents so I held back pretty far entering that turn. I left a good 4-5 car gap the first few laps and I had a gap when the accident occurred, but they literally stop dead in their tracks. I'm uploading the video now. The aftermath is quite comical as one by one cars come crashing into the turn and Durandel gets pushed and shoved out of the way.

Afterward I still ran 1:50s but you and WiiFreak were running 1:48-1:49. I'm guessing WiiFreak had the speed on the front straight and you had the cornering advantage with your weight reduction.

After my pit stop i could run 1:49 but by then it was too late. I lost only 6 seconds between laps 14-30, but 27 seconds from laps 3-13. Most of that time was in the brake zone of turn 1 and a little bit through the technical section where the accident occured. I saw Dabney go by on my pit stop and he looked to be about 10 seconds ahead when I finally exited. It took 10 laps to track him down. Once I got to him, he couldn't put up much of a fight with 25 lap old tires. I definitely could have made it on one pit stop, my tires weren't wearing fast...but I didn't want to be caught late in the race with bad tires and since i was more than a pit stop behind the leaders, there was no sense in not stopping.

I think the no-pit strategy may actually work out for some drivers this season given the shorter races...however the conditions need to be right. You've got to be easy on the tires the first leg and use drafting to stay close...then the 2nd leg you need to pull far enough ahead to avoid anyone catching your draft.

Yeah, I knew that Wiifreak with damage would wear his fronts down quicker, so on lap 12 he pitted. I stayed out, and drove as fast as I could, and pitted on lap 17, to give me 2 laps for tires to heat up, and 10 left to duke it out with Wii. When I came out of the pits, I could see Wiifreak, so I knew it worked since his pit stop was slowed with damage.

At about 24-25, there was a lapped car we passed and we were right on top of each other. My fastest lap was on 27, with a 1.48.147, and mmk said, we were both on the verge of 1.47's. So i knew he was just as fast.

Wiifreak didn't get damage from that accident according to my replay...did he get it later?

welcome to season 3!

that was a nice preseason race, showing a lot of promise for a fantastic season

if i can run clean laps consistently, and avoid other drivers' crash sites, i think i can achieve top 5 or 6 in the overall standings

i'm too slow of a driver to compete with you top drivers

but already i am much more happy this season with my tire consumption rates than last season in that toyota starlet glanza

also, at any time, if you have any pointers for me, because i know sometimes i make undesireable decisions on the race track, please let me know...the number one thing for me is i don't want to ruin other peoples' race, but i also don't want to compromise my competitive rights either

i just want to learn and improve

PM me if you feel like that's better...or else just share it here

i have a question about "bump drafting"

what is the etiquette on bump drafting? are you allowed to bump draft anyone, anytime, or is there some sort of agreement that has to be made first?

alright best wishes to everyone for this season, i hope it will be a gratifying experience for us all:tup:

My one tip for Laguna: If you don't have a nose ahead and the inside line by the top of the hill, don't attempt a pass at the corkscrew. Those are the requirements to do it successfully without slowing both cars by 1-2 seconds or worse, punting someone into the dirt.

As for bump drafting. I do it to everyone. If I don't have enough track to pass, I'll bump draft to speed up both cars. However, I would avoid bumping after you are already 2/3rds down a straight. For example, at Laguna, don't bump draft after the left kink in the straight. Bumping is good for those short straights at laguna where there isn't enough time to pass, but you want to keep the car behind you off your tail.

Looking at the video below i think I know what happened to me. First Bowtie saw it coming, I did not because I was blocked by his car crossing in front of me. Second, James actually bounces backward after Durandel gets caught up on the barrier. I didn't know they were going to get bound up so I didn't go as far inside as Bowtie and the bounce was just enough for me to clip him and set off another chain of collisions.

The video brings a couple of issues up:

1) GTP OLR states, if you bump someone and are more than 50% at fault, you need to wait for them to re-enter the track and follow behind them. James pushed Durandel out of the way to get by after the collision which caused more issues for the other cars coming up behind.

2) When re-entering the track...or turning yourself around on a street course, please look around you. If someone is coming, wait until they pass to start moving around. Diabolic got hit by Durandal while he was backing up. It could have been avoided if Durandel just stayed put until cars were past him.

No I got damage. As I ducked to the inside of the chaos I clipped someone which gave me front right damage.

I was well aware of my mistake immediately after it happened, and apologized pretty much immediately to Diabolic, unlike James, who never bothered with an apology to me, even after the race.

I was just livid after getting plowed into and then pinned to the wall, so I wasn't thinking clearly and was trying to get out of the way as quickly as possible, rather than just sit there and have even more cars plow into me, not to mention end up in dead last, which I pretty much did anyway.

Anyway, I agree that it was rather comical to watch, but anything but comical to me at the time.

Also, Durandal has no letter 'e' in it, just FYI. ;)

Yup, I understand...just something for all of us to think about before we throw the car into reverse....The pre-season race is the place to air this out.

It wasn't funny at the time to me either...but I can't help but think this would make a great montage video for next season. i keep watching it over again trying to figure out if i could have avoided contact. Maybe if I knew to go way inside like bowtie i could have slipped by...but i didn't know that until it was too late.

I disagree as you finished ahead of me and you were the cause of my accident. Being as its preseason I could care less, but please folks, if you have an accident, dont reverse back on to the track until the coast is clear. I'll be awfully unhappy should I be involved in more accidents that common sense can avoid. I ran 1:49s-1:50s in 11th place for 20 laps thereafter :banghead:

One more thing..can we have a rule that we the race ends you cannot turn off the system as a way to leave the lobby? Hyptothetically, a person could install a suspension or any other parts while in the lobby, run the race, and then exit the lobby by turning off their system or quiting game avoiding the automatic save that occurs. You can tell this has happened because their exit message wont display. If you exit the correct way, the game will save and if a person is cheating, they might have a bit of 'splaining to do. I dont think its too much to ask of people to make sure when the race is over that they are leaving the room by clicking the exit button. I realize that someone duping could spend an additional hour sometime during the week to get their second car up to the correct mileage, so this is all moot. If I'm way off here, I'd love to hear an argument against it.

Please share your cars, I want to inspect tonight. I intend to track mileage this season. If for some reason your car's mileage does not add up, you will be disqualified from the championship.

I hate to say this, in part because I don't want to give anyone the knowledge, and in part because I have been open always about using two cars. In my defense, I've clearly painted them different colors.

There is nothing to keep someone from having one car to share and one car to race. Because...

Please share your cars, I want to inspect tonight. I intend to track mileage this season. If for some reason your car's mileage does not add up, you will be disqualified from the championship.

I tried to track mileage last season. Running races online does not add the correct number of miles to a car, if it adds miles at all. :(

Thanks, PD, really appreciate that. For a "real driving simulator" it is missing lots of "real" elements, like VIN, and parc ferme.

I just wanted to put it out there if anyone got the idea. We are all aware of how the system can be gamed...so please refrain. Thats all.

doh, well i guess there is nothing to stop from cheating then except me running laps in the cars to see where drivers should be qualifying.

First my utmost appologies to DURANDAL7 if he thinks i was at fault ?.
Having watched the reply many times you can see i braked early and cliped the kerb on the right which upset my braking distance resulting in what you think was a deliberate push .
As for GTP rules "you are only allowed to make one defensive move to block a pass not weave down the track" (watch the back straight to see I went left and was blocked (legit move) then went right and was blocked again (illegal move) .

That is my story .

and again i HUMBLEY APPOLOGISE ...

Could you apologize rather than "apologise" You'll have the grammar mods here quicker than you think citing how you agreed when becoming a GTP member to use correct english throughout your posts. :gtpflag:
