Sign me up, I'm thinking Toyota carina or Nissan skyline. Thanks to twitchie for the volvo, but sadly its just too heavy and too slow. I'm still. I really wanted to run MGF but it had 377pp.... Grrrr

The tunnel?
Just wait until your tires have 20 laps on them...then we'll talk about the tunnel. If you run wide, you may miss the entrance. I was behind someone who did that twice last night during our muscle car race. I got a friggen penalty for hitting them which put me further back. Of course with damage on full and penalties off, both drivers will be screwed if the front driver messes it up.

Soooo, I know I'm late to the party for this season, but mind if I join back in the fun? :)
Sohn, we already have a full house...but given the attrition rate of such series, i speculate we may lose a few after the pre-season race. I'll put you at the end of the list. There are a few slots open for the preseason race because I know some people won't be able to attend. You might be able to squeeze in for that race.

I have also been speaking with garris about doing a Tuesday sister series. Same tracks, same rules, just a different night. It will likely start with a preseason event next week. The focus would be on beginner to intermediate racers. If anyone considers themselves in that category...as in you don't trust yourself to ride the bumper of another car with damage on full, you may want to consider running with garris.

It seems the number of entrants is already over 16, and as Huyler said we've been talking, and we are trying to gauge interest in splitting this into two leagues. Before I start a new thread, I figured I'd ask for feedback in this thread (or in PMs).

Some ideas:

  • The separate league, a B-Division, could run on Wednesdays at the same time, or could be moved to Tuesdays, if that would be more accommodating to some.
  • I know last season started with a few of us that had no hopes of being competitive. I'm not saying that this B-Division has to be all the "bad" drivers, but... it is just an idea. It might make everyone's time more enjoyable if you run with a group of drivers closer to your skill level. My skill level is at Rubbish. Just below Captain Slow, I'm sure.
  • I don't want to completely drain Huyler's primary league. I want this to be a bit of an overflow, but it will need more than two people to be any fun.

a_garris, I think that I might be interested in both leagues, provided you go to Tuesdays. Just an FYI.

Thanks for that, I'll keep my eye out and send you car info anyway. As I already own every miata I'll probably just end up buying a duplicate one of those :)

chuyler, you asked yesterday in the testing session about grid start. When I joined for the last 3 races last season, I got pole at Daytona and la Sarthe (not b/c of my driving, but b/c of my Z), but both times, I started around 4th or 5th (I never left the pits). I think grid start is fine and makes it more realistic with heavy damage, but to ensure proper starting order, some work may be required.

I've read on the flying miata series that they all line up at a straight in qualifying order, and then start race. I have seen that work. That would require one person (presumably the host) to write down everyone's qualifying time in the "watch race" mode. Easier with 8 drivers but more work with 16 drivers.

Also, I run with the Cappuccinos and for some reason, we always start with the right order, without lining up. Not sure why.

Maybe preseason race can try this out. If we do not line up reliably, I think following the flying miata series should work.

chuyler, could you publish the list of driver/cars after the deadline? Since we are not changing cars, I am interested and curious to see what people are running. No reason to wait until the preseason to see the selection, yeah?

Re: publishing cars

I can do that. I need everyone's selection by 12:00pm EDT on Wednesday (tomorrow) and can post them shortly after. I can tell you now, the AE86 is the most popular so if you're waffling and want something unique...that's just a heads up. I suggest everyone find something fun and unique. It's not about winning the first race at 375pp, its about building a car up and challenging yourself to drive it as best as possible. There will be times where the guy in front of you has an accident. Even if he's 30 seconds ahead, if you squeeze every second out of your laps you could get by him when he goes into the pits.

Re: grid start
I have heard that if everyone exits to the pits (not to the lobby) before the race is started the order will be correct. I may try that tonight in my 450pp lobby to see if it works. However it will require a certain restraint from all drivers through the first turn. Don't push the grid 3-wide. If the car in front of you is slower, give him a bump to get him up to speed. The goal is to turn a double-file grid into a single file running order, not to pass everyone before the first turn. If we do a stopped grid start, I will reserve the right to start the race over again if people get damage on the first turn. of course I won't know if people get damage if you don't speak up.

Glad to hear.
I feel in love with my car, but it has one major flaw. Yet, I don't want to drive anything else; Still it has great potential for the season.

Ps. Will send pm as soon as I get home.

I've run several grid-start full damage races. As long as everyone respects the cars around them, and understands how long the race is, then there aren't usually any issues. And yes, if everyone qualifies but doesn't leave back to the lobby, it will remember the grid order.

We made 25-30 lap runs after everybody left. Trying too pass each other and such too get a realistic race. Worked good. We even sped up later in the run.

I've done 31 laps on a set of tires in one car and 28 on another.

The tunnel is a bitch. That was my second accident last series. After Xonant tagged me..I remember pitting, coming out onto the pits, running a few laps and getting a bad line into it. Then I pit again, 6 laps later I passed Chuyler (though I was a lap down at that point, and the rest of the time I was bored.

I still need final vehicle selections and a list of parts installed from the following drivers... You have 2 hours!!!!

sl3ightaru
diabolicwyvern
booch16
WiiFreak
grenadeshark
Twichie70 (parts only)
mechyboy27
MadMax86
counter345

Since I'm just getting the Tuesday series together, I wasn't planning on a formal preseason race, but I think I'll start up a room tonight incase there are too many people in the Wednesday room. :P

I'm still missing cars and tuning options from people. It's now past the deadline. Hurry the eff up!!!

You are missing from me for sure. I am heading home for lunch in 20 minutes and I'll PM the car information. Thought I'd be home but our Manager visited my satellite facility today so we could chat about our mutual distain for the corporate office.

Well, I cannot publish the car list unless I've received them all. I know your car so I can fill that in (unless you changed it from what you mentioned last night)...but I have not heard from others.

I just got home. I am working on it!. Give me a few more hours! My job keeps popping up and keeping me from getting it straight :(

I was going to run the Celica GTR 4WS but I've just topped it at le Sarthe and the Talon with the same parts, minus supercharger/turbocharger hits 20mph more and has 18 more PP. I'm still thinking about the Piazza though. It could run 35 laps w/o pits on GVE-R with less than a 2 second decrease best to worse and thats hard to overlook.

Its between the IS200/AS200 and the Piazza. I dont want to be on a different pit schedule than the folks I need to draft with.

I was definitely considering the piazza, then i accidently saved it with too much tune on it and I can't get it to show back up in the ucd :(
