ok whatever. i'm picking either the 280z, the mr2, or the talon. You can send it whenever you want because if it isn't one of those, i won't be driving it and i will keep your secret.

I'm out after this Wednesday anyway, so feel free to remove me.

I've been looking around the forum. I kind of feel like I've been laid off and I'm looking for work. If anyone knows of any other lower powered series for epically slow drivers like me, let me know.

Is this still open? I would love to do something more than just the open lobbies.

chuyler,

looking forward to tomorrow's race

do i send you a friend request or will you send me one?

psn: galikazoid

and to confirm, i will drive the Toyota Corolla GT-Apex (AE86) '83

do i have to submit car colour or that doesn't matter?

thanks!

yes, please PM your car selection with any mods you installed to get it to 375pp. Be sure to read through the first post thoroughly to understand the rules and points/credits system. There is quite a bit of strategy to vehicle selection and the parts you install before the season begins.

Send me a friend request and I will accept it the next time i'm on. If my list is full, send me a message via psn and i'll remove some stale friends.

PM me your car selection as well as any parts installed to get it to 375pp. I will be maintaining a spreadsheet of driver's points, winnings, and parts selected for each race. After each race the list will be made public so that all participants can compare selection.

Chuyler, I will get you all the info when I get home. Thanks!

I want to wish everyone good luck on Wednesday's race, it's unfortunate I won't be here.

Actually dabney, I just went through the thread and counted the people interested. We've got a full house but not everyone has submitted cars yet.

Below is the current list. I ordered it based on participation last season followed by when the user posted in this thread.

1. chuyler1 **
2. sl3ightaru
3. diabolicwyvern
4. booch16
5. gjbaldwin60
6. WiiFreak
7. grenadeshark
8. snoopykuan **
9. Twichie70
10. iamsupernasty **
11. MNLumberjack
12. mechyboy27 *
13. morbo *
14. bowtiekid **
15. Niop *
16. MadMax86
17. counter345
18. dabneyd

** Drivers who have submitted car and parts
* Drivers who have mentioned their car but have not submitted parts

I'm pretty sure that bowtie and grenade won't be making the pre season race so that should free up enough slots for tomorrow's race.

So for counter345 and dabneyd, I suggest preparing for Wednesday, send me a friend request, and join the race. If someone fails to show up for the race (aside from bowtie and grenade) you get their slot.

diabolic, what year is the 280Z? I think I tried a 240Z from 70s and it was hard to drive. Can you send me the 280Z? I want to drive a Nissan, but have not found any suitable cars--all Silvias are either too high in PP or have no turbo/super charger.

I can send it, if you can dup it and send it back. Besides some body roll which should be easy to deal with after the first race...its the 3rd fastest car I've tested on GVE-R.

You can't put turbos on the 280z. I have been checking for that. Given we may not max out the cars, I have no idea if it is going to be an issue. Might have to save credits between races for higher engine tuning.

I talked with Twich, Bowtiekid and snoopy about this. All three of my options have only supercharger as optional, but the cars wont be maxed out. I think by the end, each person will have between 80-100 this time round rather than 130-170K like last season. Even 100K may be to high with podium finishes being given basically 0 reward.

Some lap times at GVE-R for reference (recorded in practice mode)
MR2 '86 - 1:21.656
Talon Esi '97 - 1:21.950
206 S16 '99 - 1:22.134
G20 '90 - 1:22.574
280z '78 - 1:22.891

So the 280 is a second slower on both tracks...but its the only FR car I have had success with.

Poll time will be sub 1:22 ONLINE for GVE-R. Testing dozens of cars and two of mine go under 1:23 and one goes under 1:22. One can be turbo-charged and the other supercharged. Decisions, Decisions

The 280Z can run at least 1:23.754 on GVE-R online. It was my 3rd quickest there.

No Mic's eh? No worries, I will always be mic'd :).

I am a little worried about the track selection order. I don't like the idea of cote de azur being the last track. The ones before that encourage you to power up your car. Monza/trial/suzuka only to then need to change it to a very technical car.

This is just my opinion of course. But I would move cote higher up in the season.

The good thing is that we can choose to mute folks, or like I've been doing...keep the mic on but off your head. Than I hear just the car on the TV (since I have BGM off) and none of peoples tirades...I mean conversation

-----------------

My car is a secret to all but Bowtiekid who was there testing with me. No one has mentioned it yet, so I'm excited. :D

chuyler, I may not be able to make the race tomorrow either. Real life work getting in the way of GT5.

diabolic, thanks for the offer. I found the 280Z as well. Did not like it as it was too tail happy on comfort soft and no forced induction available.

I do the same with the mic. I take it off during a long race. I put it on sometime to talk, but that usually means I crash shortly thereafter. Ha.

Allowing premiums...I hope we dont have a room of Golfs, Miatas and Swifts!

The premium cars have better modeling...do that have better attention to weight distribution and stock set-ups I wonder?

They have better aerokits options in most cases.

I really hope no one else picks the 280z. I like having a unique car. I'm going to paint mine some matte color before the race to fit with the theme. It is tail happy, and won't let me put a turbo on, and its slow down the straight, and the default tranny is way too high...but I consider all those challenges to overcome. I was able to keep up with the AE86s last night during the race. In practice with no draft it was clear that i didn't have any passing power.

Not to bust anyone's bubble, but there is no premium Golf or Swift that can be used. The rules state the car has to be 1999 or older.

Forgot about that. Thank goodness!

Sorry Chuyler..the 280Z is on my short list. I have shfited my garage enough to find practice cars for each of my three options. I am going to mod each tonight for each race based on how much I think I'll win each time and decide. It is my third option...and a distant third, but we'll have to see

chuyler, yeah we were nose to tail for a few laps there. If you were in front, I'm pretty sure I could not pass either w/o the draft. My car is pretty tail happy. I guess that is why the drifters like it.

GVE-R's straight is pretty short, so passing would probably come from a mistake. Hopefully folks will be patient--with heavy damage, we cannot treat each other like AI.

chuyler, you need an extra 280Z? I can send it to you tonight after work. I think mine is completely stock. I will paint it pink. No need to thank me for that.

yeah, I knew i wasn't going to get a last straight pass for the win so I tried to nose inside you before the final hairpin. I had sufficient overlap but I was going to have to slow down a lot more to hold the turn from the inside. I backed off early and tried to get behind you...but you slowed a little too much and got loose when i tapped you. There were several more bumps after that because I wanted to push you through the turn and maybe get a draft pass. That's when i realized how loose your car was...and backed off. Don't worry, that won't happen during the race. If it comes down to the final laps, i'll have to find some other way around.

Cool, thanks :) No need to paint it pink though, save your chip for something else.

chuyler, no worries on the bumps. It was a testing session. I actually found the 280Z looser.

As for me, I will not likely be on the lead lap. Short track + comfort soft + loose car + bad driver + heavy damage + full field = lots of visit to the pits...

As we found last season. The tunnel is the killer. Find a safe route through that turn that you can execute without getting damage. Turn 1 and the final hairpin have plenty of sand to catch you. Turn 2 can be tricky as well if you hit the grass, but i don't think you'll hit the wall hard enough to get damage.

Lots of us drove with damage the first two races. At the speeds we hit, a little suspension damage doesn't slow you down enough to warrant an unscheduled pit stop. However, if you are racing with a controller, it can be very difficult to keep the car straight. Wheel drivers have a distinct advantage when it comes to damage, we can just cock the wheel a little to the side to adjust.

I'm interested in this series. If possible put me on the reserve list plz. I'm friends with diabolic if u have no room to add my chuyler. Need to test a few cars tonight before I make a final decision. Ill be on stand by tomorrow night if a few ppl don't show. Thanks

The tunnel? I never had an issue with the tunnel, last night I never had any damage. Sure, my car was all black on the passenger side, but never did I hit hard enough to force damage. I say the first turn will get you, that wall is dangerous. If you don't hit it right, you will either drift keeping out of the wall, or hit it wide open. Very tricky.

Soooo, I know I'm late to the party for this season, but mind if I join back in the fun? :)
