Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel

Well kind of crazy but I ordered on the 17th and based on others experience figured it would be 2-3 days to process and 4-7 days to deliver. Nope they just arrived - pedals and wheel. Almost exactly 72 hours. this is in Western Canada. Now to unbox and set up!!!

E; ok set up and old faithful G923 is in a box. Initial impressions:

Man this thing is heavy. I absolutely love the pedals; everything from the aesthetic to the ease of access to springs and polymers to the sensible modular design is fantastic. Setup for the whole system was dead simple. I did connect to my laptop first to update firmware but no need it was up to date. So popped it on the PS5 for some laps.

Realized that huh, 11nm is an awful lot hey? Keep in mind I’m not on a full rig I use a metal pedal tray and 8020 aluminum wheel base. No issues with flex or shaking - just since this is my first DD wheel I immediately set it to 11 (look if a dial goes to 11, that’s what I’m starting with) and yeah, that’s a lot. Fortunately my second favourite thing after a couple hours is the on-board customization. This is awesome, particularly for us console plebs. Being able to tweak all those options instantly on the wheel (even for the brake weight!) is fantastic.

Still dialing in specific title settings - only tried GT7 and ACC today (I’d actually taken the day off and spent most of it racing spa in GT VR which meant I didn’t have a lot of racing left in me when the kit unexpectedly arrived, but was also a fitting send off for my old stuff). The difference in feel is significant, particularly when losing the backend or knowing how the front tires are doing under trail braking you can actually feel it. Haven’t tweaked true force settings much but even default the things like gear shift clunk and rumble strips are so much more detailed.

It’s an expensive package but it’s an expensive hobby - next year is the VR PC stage - and for me it was on par with equivalent Fanatec packages. I had a shopping cart on Fanatecs site with the 8nm GT wheel, the upgraded hall and loadcell pedals, the upgrades QR collar (I’ve heard the included one is garbage), the McLaren wheel, and a table clamp (I like to have one just in case). Came out to about $1200.00 USD. As a Canadian that’s about $1560. Then, shipping and duties would add about $220. So roughly $1780. Which is within $100 of the G Pro for me - which I think the 11nm and Trueforce are worth. So expensive, yes , but in the case good value. I’ll post any issues or things I run into. Cheers!

E2; oh last thing I swear, it’s very quiet which I’m sure the family is going to appreciate - the G923 can get very loud.

Whelp, this sucks....

Got my wheel and pedals yesterday and spent about 3 hours mounting/routing everything on my SimLab setup. Woke up this morning to clean everything up and power up the wheel and POP!!!! It sounded like an electric pop, followed by a mild burning smell, followed by the wheel not wanting to power up at all. I've tried chatting support, but just got crickets. Can't call them since they don't open until Monday @8AM CST.

Not a great start for moving to Logitech for the first time in my 25+ year sim racing "career". Hopefully there's no static or friction with getting a replacement (I better not have to send it in and wait for repairs).

@LOGI_Rich not sure if there's anything you can do to help, but I was able to open a support ticket

I did find this reddit post online, that is identical to what happened with my wheel:

Just about 2 full weeks and still no replacement wheel. Very very disappointing and frustrating.....

Did you get your return label yet and, if so, have you shipped it and has it been confirmed as being received back at the returns centre?

PM me your case number so I can check on progress please.

Hey @LOGI_Rich, i do realize you probably can’t answer this. But hell, i like to to poke the bear, and to be honest, this isn’t the same logitech most of us have grown up with Ive been a fan of logitech for many years. Nothing crazy, a few mice, farming sim controller, keyboard, g27, i doubt fan boi level. But everything logitech i’ve ever owned has either just worked well, and for a long time, or the company has sorted it out with very little issue. Now aside from further ecosystem development (which seems to be waayyy the **** behind, and losing you customers daily imho) with the G Pro set. Does Logitech have any comment on the height of qc/ problematic on delivery unit’s?. Lets face it. This is exactly what’s holding a lot of folks back. I do NOT regret my freakin wheel, it is exactly what i was looking for, though at a premium.

...and now I've been told that I have to wait for them to fully inspect the broken wheel before they can send me a replacement? I can't imagine treating other people this way. This has now become the worst customer support experience I've had, in my 30+ years of being a consumer of products.

Have about 10 hours on this setup now and feel like it's pretty dialled in - I love the profile capability because my two main games ACC and GT7 really have different characteristics that just tweaking the in-game settings aren't ideal for. Spent most of the time so far in GT7 VR (ACC is my flatscreen game when I need to be kind of present but my wife and kids are out of town so) and it's a really nice upgrade over the 923. You kind of don't realize how much you feel the gear driven motor until it's replaced with something this smooth and detailed. Just really enjoying it, pace is more consistent and in both titles driving in the rain is completely different, there's so much more information on what the car is doing. No issues so far, lovely piece of kit.

@LOGI_Rich I’m not suggesting that i believe Logitech is having a particularly high number of doa or early failures in a global sense of the product. Perhaps more that they’re having a higher number of issues with this particular product than they may have had in the past. Though you’re not incorrect regarding perception, although is certainly not my only source of information. My guess being that offshore production of products in general seems to have taken something of a backslide. I would bet is a more global challenge all companies that produce offshore are facing. Certainly some of your competitors appear to be having much higher numbers of concerns.

I didn’t anticipate a response at all. So it’s great to see a company stepping up and you being here in general is a testament to Logitech’s support of their customers. You are certainly an invaluable and i believe appreciated member of the community.

@TagsxA that is extremely frustrating i’m sure, but not at all an uncommon practice for compainies to test defective units prior to sending replacements, given the msrp on these guys. At least shipping is covered, which is certainly not the case with many companies, especially on a product of this weight and size.

@rAtey sorry if this conversation is not what you’re here to see. Feel free to scroll on by. Some of us look specifically for these types of posts, and how a company deals with its customers or their isssues is invaluable to deciding which products or companies they’re gonna support and where to spend their money. These posts are directly related to the wheel and pedals. Cheers mate

Let's agree to disagree here. I am here for information on working units. Settings, tips, gameplay, news on possible addons, price drops etc. The last few weeks it's mostly people complaining about their faulty units, logistic process and the customer service, hoping that @LOGI_Rich will somehow prioritise their units above others.

Feel free to keep scrolling... well thanks. Feel free to create a customer service thread.

Hi, is there a way through the Logitech GHub software to adjust the hardness of the brake pedal to make it softer?

Thank you so much.

in addition people tend not to post if they're not having trouble, which skews the perception.
To realign the skew a little... It's heading towards 6 months now and mine is still working fine. I just have the one problem with the GT3 style open wheel, I can't find it anywhere. 😉

the stiffness it seems a lot of sim racers strive for.
I was watching a few videos the other day by an actual GT3 racecar driver who also has a full SIM setup. For his sim pedals he didn't have the brake set particularly stiff/hard because it replicated what he was used to. Also he reckoned that the steering in his GT3 Merc peaked at around 12 to 15Nm - because they have power steering. So those with stiff pedals and extra high torque steering who are striving for realism are probably making it less realistic. But if they're enjoying themselves, full power to them. 👍

Hi, is there a way through the Logitech GHub software to adjust the hardness of the brake pedal to make it softer?
To make it as soft as possible you'd have to change to the softest foams and elastomer. That'd be the 2 white foams and the yellow elastomer. In the hub and via the wheel you can lower the amount of pressure needed to achieve a full brake - which would be recommended if you are using the above.

@IfAndOr , I totally agree. Mine is only a month old, but essentially flawless. My only slight issue is the left rotary encoder feels like the detents (if you will) are fairly soft compared to the right rotary encoder, and doesn’t always register an input for each notch of a turn. I wont be sending it in based on that unless it gets worse over time. As far as the pedals, i think they’re amazing. I just added the stiffer orange foam. But really like having some pedal travel for better brake modulation and trail braking.

@Abelardo i dont know how old or how much use your pedals have. But i found i needed to regrease my elastomers after about 2 weeks of use. The foam insert seemingly had absorbed some of the inital grease from the factory, and i could start to feel some binding or notchyness in the brake. Fresh grease and butter smooth again.
You can also (if you havent already) reduce the loadcell setting on the wheel base so the brake hits 100% earlier with less pressure, giving you a softer feel, though less overall pedal travel.

Thank you so much.
If you're looking to reduce the force required to achieve 100% brake you can do that on the wheel menu. If you want to adjust the travel of the pedal then swap out for the softer polymers - the darker the color the harder the polymer.

Only PC support but still interesting :)

New wheels maybe are about to come....

Interesssssttttiiiinnngggg!!!

Also interesting is that if you look under the wheel listing, compatibility says for the dd11 base. So lets start a rumor here 😁. Could that mean we could see a dd25 base or something like that down the road?. I know, i know, let’s just get some wheels, shifter (sequential and h in one logitech) and hopefully a handbrake. But still…

yeah, I've also noticed dd11 base.

Hopefully we have steering wheels for consoles too...
Depends if you want them for xbox or ps. The ps chip is in the base, the complete wheel and base set already includes this. With xbox my understanding is it’s the opposite, the chip for xbox functionality is in the wheel. So in theory if you bought the ps compatible bundle, we should be able to buy an xbox compitable wheel then giving yourself dual console compatibility. At least thats how it works with other brands. Hopefully that doesn’t become a lost opportunity for logitech. I doubt they’ll miss this since there is already an xbox compatible wheel and base. Now would a wheel from the xbox set work on a ps base, we don’t know yet. Maybe if someone in here has a friend with the opposite set up from them, they could do a test for us 😁

We already confirmed this back at launch - if you attach an Xbox wheel to a PS base (or PC base, now that we have that as an option) then you can use it on Xbox.
This is a bit worrying. So in the case you'll release a different wheel PS5 users still have to buy the full base plus wheel and then another wheel..?

Since Logitech don't sell a separate Sony compatible base, then yes. But that's how it is for other manufacturers also.

Unless they only produce one version, in theory any additional wheels should be cheaper for the PlayStation version since they don't have to include the Microsoft "security" chip.

I think it will work just as it does with Fanatecs ecosystem. Wheels will be pc/Xbox/ps5 with the Xbox security chip in them. They will work with any wheel base. The ps5 specific wheelbase will have the ps chip. There’s no reason not to it this way going forward really, but I guess we’ll see.

E; but yeah I imagine you will need to buy 2 wheels if you’re on ps unless they start selling ps basess separately.

The standalone pc steering wheel is a very interesting development for the modding community. There are all kinds of mods for the older G25, G27 that use the bolt pattern of the logitech to mount. You could purchase an extra steering wheel and take it apart and mount an F1 wheel to it. It will require some DIY but could be decent for those who cannot wait for Logitech to launch their own alternate steering wheels and are comfortable with DIY. The electronics and button functionality could be more challenging.

Maybe they intend to release a lower torque DD base, at a lower price point.
