How are we supposed to know if this wheel performs exacty the same as the G25/7? I must be the only one who doesn't seem to really care much about the price since the G27 was one of the most amazing purchases I've ever made in my life and I'd be happy to pay a premium for PS4 support.

20 sec: "We've kept the dual motor transmission from the G27, blah, blah, blah."

Will it handle 100% lie the G27? Who knows. But at this point we're fairly confident we won't be seeing any major improvements over the G27. The G27 is an awesome wheel, no doubt about that. But for me personally, $100+G27's price just for PS4 compatibility is not considerable.
I got to play with the G29 at E3...

I've been using my G25 setup for years, with my pedals reverse mounted using the Perfect Pedal mod. What I want to know is, will I just be able to plug in and use my existing G25 pedals to use with the G29 wheel? I see no reason to bother mucking about with these ones if I can help it.

I doubt that the G25 pedals can be used with a G25 wheel. I don't think the G25 pedals can even be used on a G27 (correct me if I'm wrong*). However, You'll probably be able to use the Perfect Pedal mod on the G29 pedals, as they're practically identical to the G27 pedals.

Maybe some sim racing supplier will make a simple adapter for you so you can use your existing reverse mounted set up.

Yep. The connector for the pedals has probably changed, so someone will make an adapter (eventually). Either that or get the multimeter out and work how to swap the plug from one set of pedals to the other. It should be possible, just takes time and patience to work out .

I was just thinking if the G29 was worth it over a G27... I guess not unless you're on PS4. I'm looking forward to that extra $100 I get to play with now

What are the odds there will be PS4 support for G25/G27, now that Logitech is back in the wheel-business? I assume pretty low, uhm? I'm wondering whether I should sell my old G25 and go for the new G29...

Cool thanks I was waiting for that video.. wondering what they have to say even though others who went to E3 have already stated it is exactly what we expected, a G27 with new buttons.

Edit - and that is exactly what he said.. pretty much what everyone else on here is saying.

Yes you can!

The G25 pedals and the G27 pedals have the same connecter and can be used on both wheels.

A major gaming site needs to bash Logitech for this and bash them hard, incredible that this is not getting more publicity.

I doubt it'll happen though. Especially since the current crop of 8th Gen wheels are loaded with quality issues, and major gaming sites seem to have short memories.

Then again, the G920 one may get blasted for what it's lacking, although it carries the exact same price as the G29. I am still doubtful.

I Still want Logitech to come out and say why are they charging for all this, I'd atleast have some sympathy if they are paying a lot for licensing.

The Thrustmaster T80 is fully licensed. Which means licensing costs can't be very much since that wheel is €80 or so....

Yep, zero sympathy from me.

it's a Thrustmaster product (holders of the exclusive license).

Call up Jim Sterling or TotalBiscuit.

Doubt they'd car about a niche market such as sim racing, they've got bigger fish to fry (cough Batman cough Destiny)

That was a very...political initial review from Gangi (Gangee?). I understand though as you'll get cut off from the teet of major suppliers if you bad mouth products too harshly. And if we're honest, some sim equipment is so expensive you really do rely on testing units and some good natured cooperation from manufacturers (few people could justify buying every $900 racing seat that comes out etc.).

It does pretty much verify all of the stuff we'd guessed prior. The rubber brake mod and hall sensors are nice touches. But you still can't remotely justify $460 for a set that sells for $230 right now.

I think that his quick review was pretty honest really. The G27 isn't exactly a bad wheel, so he couldn't really bad mouth the G29 for its performance (especially at this early stage) and he can't be too opinionated as he's simply doing a review. We, the viewers, have to form our own opinion and read between the lines.

It's obvious to most that Logitech have made a mess of their re-launch into the console gaming market, for several reasons, price, PS4 compatibility, customer support and basically fobbing us off with excuses and leaving loyal customers hanging. The G29 isn't exactly a looker either. OK it could be uglier, but it's supposed to be an improvement upon the G27, which visually it certainly isn't.

Logitech have got some work ahead of them if they want to make this launch a success, they need to start addressing some fairly obvious issues head-on. Getting the price right would be a good start.

I urge anyone thinking of buying this not to buy it and get something else. This is a complete and utter rip-off of the consumer and yet again the gamer. This cobbled together wheel using old tech makes me angry, they dont want to support old wheels on next gen but are happy to basically re-box an old wheel make it compatible for next gen and slap a huge price tag on it, give over. If they'd have priced this around the dfgt sort of range then fair enough but its more expensive than a t300 and I can tell you a t300 wheel is much better than anything logitech have done.

Please if you want a new wheel buy a thrustmaster and either use your existing g25/7 pedals with it or get some t3pa pedals dont be conned into this.

Don't forget, the G29's shifter also isn't compatible with the PS3. Yet how many games on the PS3 use a shifter?

Logitech honestly could have done this better

You know, I'm thinking the same way, I mean, 450 USD (plus taxes) doesn't really sound that bad, I really want a wheel and I actually like the button placement.

To each their own of course, but why would you even consider a G29? It's pretty much a 200 dollar wheel for 450.

Why not the T300?
Of course I haven't tried them yet, but according to reviews it seems to be that case that the pedals are really low quality.

Because I loved the feel of the G27 and I'm happy to pay a premium for PS4 compatiability, although I won't stop looking at the T300. The major downside of the T300 for me is the pedals, and I like a good pedal feel.

Feels on a completely different level to the G27, if you use one for a few hours and then go back to G27, I think there is good possibility you will feel like it is broken. You can use G27 pedals with an adapter on the T300 or buy the higher end Thrustmaster pedals.
