Looks like we have some new people towards the top.

@slaphappyfranky i would wait until the times of the actual top 8 in the round three because of the round's duration and how many people are going to qualify for national finals. people are definitely going to be scrambling to get those lap times come round 3 to get through the final 8 as opposed to round 1 getting through the top 128

I'd hope so, but Iam talking about right now in the 1st round, who knows what'll happen in the 3rd round.👍

Yes it does, and luckily for you and the others in the competition, I have no ability to change the way I talk and act for occasions where it actually matters :)

P.S. I HAVE turned down driving a car in my lifetime just because of the fact it was too loud. I was 6 and it was a kart with a motorcycle engine and straight pipes, but it happened

I am talking about how you talk to people on these boards, you come across as really arrogant and sarcastic among other things. I am not sure if its on purpose just to push people's buttons or if you really are a jerk, its hard to tell sometimes.

He's actually a good guy. Yes he's sarcastic, and if you can't read between the lines and learn how to take some things with a grain of salt that's too bad for you.

It seems he is joking, because really who would brag about being 1st in the 1st round.

I really am just sarcastic, it's entertaining. I'm obviously not going to be a jerk in FL or the UK, a lot of it because people are going to be watching and I need to impress them (the academy people) but mostly because people can actually kick my ass

no seriously I'm usually very nice. I'm good at pushing peoples buttons but if you're nice to me, I'm very nice back.

being first doesnt make me think im better than anyone else or that i have more rights to say whatever. Its cool to be at the top of the leaderboard but apart from making me feel nice about managing it, it doesnt change anything.

P.S. actually when my mom complains about my driving I go "mom, let me remind you who you're talking to" its really funny to me. But thats as far as I take my bragging lol

Looks like "Dr_3wide_skills" waited to show his pace. I wonder if we'll see any more put up some good times like this before this last week is over.

The watch list (I feel like Mel Kiper Jr., but for GT5...what has happened to my life):

TimeAttack has said he doesn't care to mow the lawn at Cape Ring and get a competitive time. He might change his mind this weekend, but it seems he has better things to do than round 1 (I hope...).

3wide has always been in the top 128, since like week 2 when he first posted times. He's been at the top 10 for a week or so, and now he's actually trying - not good for me...

Glenn_McGee put down a 1:04.9 and 1:21.2 - he's certainly another guy who could make a run.

We haven't seen last year's US winner, Carl - you never know if he'll post times this weekend...

Agreed. I would be suprised if GTP Time Attack didn't make a bid also. That guy is legit fast.

He's already said he's not going to put much effort in for round one. He just wants to advance to the next round, which he's already done.

Edit: just like me....

Ahh, interesting. This strategy may prove to beneficial (and very bad for the rest of us :) ) if he's been practicing the other tracks and car configurations in the meantime...

No way in hell bro  I'm content with just lurkin' it for the remainder of Round 1 - but thanks for the compliment! :dopey: Actually I've been enjoying the Super GT league I've been competing in too much to drag myself back for these crappy TT's.

I'll say it again (I probably sound like a broken record), but I have no interest in the prizes up for grabs (already have a back up DFGT & Obutto Ozone cockpit which shats on the Playseat) or bragging rights this early on in these, IMO poorly chosen TT's. I don't want to sound like I'm making excuse as to why I can't get torward the top...the truth is I just don't care atm. I'm waiting for Round 3 (maybe Round 2 if I enjoy the combos) to turn up the wick and put forth a real effort, but for now I will just do what is necessary to safely advance, while saving my hair for the later rounds lol. I'm especially looking forward to head to head racing in the finals (if I make it) where all previous TT's won't mean a damn thing, and it will be a test of who can jump in a car and be competitive right off the bat, without a unrealistic amount of seat time or writing off 1000 cars trying to get that perfect lap.

Anyways, good luck to the rest of you in your pursuit of Round 1 success - I have massive respect for your dedication and persistence 👍

Edit: Is see R1600 has already filled in the blank for me 👍

Remember that we have a week off between rounds. I don't know about you, but I will certainly practicing as many combinations as I can think of.

Oh and blindside: I feel like the watchlist is much longer than that, because some people don't need another playseat or dfgt. I imagine that we'll be seeing a couple more TRC guys near the top in round two.

Oh and R1600? We get it: You think you're fast. Please feel free to do some more driving than you are talking.

To clarify - I meant potential round 1 winners only. There are a lot of great drivers who could emerge in the later rounds... In the Northeast alone a bunch of guys threw down some laps in week 1/early week 2 and haven't touched it.

I gotcha, round 2 will be a totally different beast altogether. It is interesting to watch the times for the top 128 progress. I imagine that there will be a huge surge this entire week that will bump alot of people way down.

I'm still 5 seconds back from you guys overall, but luckily am having no problem cutting down my time by a few tenths a night at least. I'm planning on putting in a ton of laps this weekend to try to get in contention for at least a dfgt.

I must say it is odd not seeing fixbywire's name every time I get to the pre-race screen anymore :)

A nice change IMO :sly:

Fix will be back on all cylinders come February. He takes pride in getting 1st, and I doubt he will settle for just top 5/10 in the next round(s).

I just said I wasn't putting much effort into this round. What crawled up your ass?:dunce:

I think my times on Tsukuba and Rome, with little effort might I add, do say something about my potential speed. I don't care what you think.

I feel like you may be right :D
However, based on your dedication (as well as others) I highly doubt he'll be the only one not settling >:)
I'm never satisfied with my ranking.
First I thought I'd stop when I was in the top 128 and just maintain that.
Then I thought I'd just get to like 75 or so and be garaunteed a spot in the next round.
Then I thought top 250 nationally and I would stop. No dice :D

It's human nature to always want to go faster

You have consistently made incredibly arrogant posts in this subforum. I think you'll find that whatever "crawled up my ass" regarding you has "crawled up" many people's on here.

"Potential" never got anyone anywhere unless they live up to it. So seriously shut up and prove it.

Other than the grass hopper thread that was closed, point out where I made arrogant posts...

I'll prove myself when the time comes. Right now is not that time.

I haven't turned a single lap in GT Academy in....two weeks? Pretty happy where I'm at since the prizes don't mean much to me. It's the grand prize I am after.

Just a sampler of your asinine nature.
Last I checked it doesn't matter if a thread is closed, you were still a total jerk in almost every post you had in that thread.
I invite everyone to read every post you made in that thread to see exactly what you're admitting to:

As to you proving yourself? I look forward to it and I thank you for giving me the extra competitive energy I need just to beat your arrogant carcass.
