Nice đź‘Ť

Loved EP15, one of the most enjoyable in recent episodes. Also one of the most disturbing in places since early on in the first series.

I'd like to see another group crash onto the Island in one of the future series', that'd make for some interesting viewing.

 Do you mean Henry Gale? It is the same name as Dorothy's uncle in Wizard of Oz, which is why the balloon story seems suspicious. Dorothy went home in a balloon.

I appreciate that a link between Henry Gale and a balloon is interesting. What do you mean by suspicious though?

Perhaps he did arrive by balloon and the Others decided when they took him in to call him Henry Gale, It could just be another 'game' that the Others are playing. Or, it could just be coincidence. OR (but i hate to think of Lost in this way) of course it could just be the writers playing with us.

I guess interesting would be a better word, but it makes me suspicious of him in that it seems too easy to present a name and method of travel that are so closely linked.

I mean, if I said my name was Steve Austin (The $6 Million Man) and my jet crashed it would just seem too coincidental to believe.

The first 3 eps of Season 2 in HD was great to watch.
Bit behind are we?

It seems to me that they would serve their fans and their ratings better if they aired them at roughly the same time worldwide.

For those who aren't aware and are waiting for my write up from last night's show it was a rerun of Whatever the Case Shall Be from Season 1. That is the episode where Kate and Sawyer go swimming, in an eye candy for all scene, and find the marshall's case that had the guns in it.

The reasoning is that the Big East basketball tournament started last night and aired on ESPN. ABC and ESPN both are owned by Disney and they would risk having split viewership if they had Lost on ABC and the tournament on ESPN.

Next week is also a rerun. It is House of the Rising Sun, which is about Jin and is where we discovered that Sun speaks English.

Carl.
Christ...

I am sick of reruns. :grumpy: One more reason to wait for the DVD next season.
I am finding it kind of like a break. Last night I got in two levels of X-Men Legends. Make the best of it you can.

I was watching the reruns thinking that they were attempting to lead us somewhere or point something out only to find absolutely no relationship with those and the current new ones. Plus, after watching through all my Season 1 DVDs I lost my urge to watch these epiosodes again.

Well, for me Lost is the break from the computer, as far as things I do to relax at home are concerned... hence the grumpyness (I don't watch much tv besides that).

Yeah, two of my shows are gone (Surface and Invasion) so I am just down to Scrubs, Lost, Earl, and The Office.

Thank God for my DVD collection and video game systems.

2) What is Eko's deal with the beard thing?

I first thought it was Eko hinting that he knew the Others were in disguise, but then my son (14) suggested that the two braids that Eko was growing were symbols of the two men he killed. The cutting of the two braids were therefore to highlight that Eko is now cleansed of his sin when killing the two men.

IMO, for Eko to go to a possible Other (Gale) and asked for forgivness, suggests to me that Eko believes that the Others are not just scientists but also a religious group.

The people who were taken by the Others were suggested to be "Good" people and therefore Eko was also considered good because they also tried to take him. Do the Others view "good" people as being free from sin, or at least repented their past sins and are therefore at rest with themselves and the remaining lost surviors are not?

The Others also took the French womans baby and attempted to take Claires unborn child. there is nothing more innocent and free from sin as a baby.

I agree with your son that it was a symbolic thing about his being repentant. He was clean shaven when they crashed and now that they are with the main group he can shave without a problem. Heck, they even have a sink and mirror with razors.

IMO, for Eko to go to a possible Other (Gale) and asked for forgivness, suggests to me that Eko believes that the Others are not just scientists but also a religious group.
Or he seeks repentance by apologizing to those he has offended by killing them. He confessed and apologized and then explained that he was the good man he was before. He may have an self-image issue about being viewed as bad or evil since he took on the priesthood and is trying to leave his past behind him.
The people who were taken by the Others were suggested to be "Good" people and therefore Eko was also considered good because they also tried to take him. Do the Others view "good" people as being free from sin, or at least repented their past sins and are therefore at rest with themselves and the remaining lost surviors are not?
We cannot assume that any of the main group are not to be considered "good" because Ethan never was able to make his list. He was found out before he made it and had to grab Claire and run. We could still have main members being kidnapped. Perhaps that is what happened to Michael? Walt is a child and I guess all children are good to them.
The Others also took the French womans baby and attempted to take Claires unborn child. there is nothing more innocent and free from sin as a baby.
Unless you are Catholic like Eko and Charlie. Remember, Claire had to baptize Aaron. This is because Catholics believe that all babies are born with original sin and that if a baby dies before their baptism they will go to purgatory.

So, if it is a religion thing then they are protestants or some non-Christian group. But then that would seem as if someone who is religious and as extreme as the Others seem to be then they wouldn't find Eko to be good.

I really think their "good" criteria is something different. You have to remember that Bernard is a big teddy bear kind of guy who loves his life more than anything in the world and can see through racial differences. So either he has a history that we will find out later or their sense of good doesn't match mine.

I have seen most episodes up to 14. But have not seen/heard of Ethan.

Who is he?

We're discussing season 2 Dunc. Are you talking about episode 14 of season 1 or season 2. If you're talking about ep14 of season 2 then you should know Ethan from the season 1, but if you're talking about ep14 from season 1 then you may not have been introduced to him yet :)

Still, even if he is talking about Season 1 he should know. He took Claire in episode 10. (I'm not that big of a geek. I looked it up.)

Dunc, Ethan is the guy that kidnapped Claire in Season 1 and tried to hang Charlie. In the last episode (ep 15) we saw him again in Claire's flashback from when she was kidnapped.

Does any of this sound familiar?

This is a pic of Ethan from ep 15.
This is a pic of Ethan from Season 1.

I'm up to 14 on season 2.

I missed a few of the season 1 eps. I'll look into them.

Are you watching the current episodes online or as they air in England?

I recommend finding a set of the DVDs from Season 1.

This seems a highly unfortunate set of events.
What is that?

mentalabc123, good finds. I do find it funny that people on that message board are all freaked out at the idea of Sun possibly being pregnant when the preview after the last episode showed her asking Sawyer for a pregnancy test.

I'm sorry I didn't mention it to all of you that didn't see the preview or are watching eth show online to keep up (I don't know if they show the previews during the credit role). For those watching it on ABC in the states you should watch that last 30 seconds. It can prove very revealing.

Carl.
Wait... are you saying it's yet another rerun this week? :ill:
Oh wait, my bad. I could have sworn that it said the next new episode was 3/29, but the site is saying it is 3/22 now.

Either I have been on crack for two weeks or they moved it up because people were getting angry.

Now that basketball is over (for me anyway :( ) I can watch Lost without worrying about how my team is doing.

OK, I am supposed to go see V for Vendetta thsi Wednesday evening so I might not get to watch Lost until Thursday afternoon. It might be Friday before my write-up. I will probably be home in time to watch the second half and then I will watch the first half after South Park.

Of course, things could change and I might just be home after work. I'll let everyone know the status of the write-up Thursday morning.

So it's late. Work was busy today.

Well, Lostaholics, here is my write-up. You all got lucky because everyone backed out of the movie last night and I ended up just drinking with one coworker. I was sober and home before Lost got started.

Here we go:

SPOILER WARNING

As usual my personal thoughts are in blue.

Episode 16: “The Whole Truth” and nothing but the truth.

FLASHBACK:

Sun and Jin are in their bedroom and Sun is wearing some lingerie. And looking quite smoking if I may say so. Jin invites her to come to bed with him. While in the bed they begin talking about having a baby. They have tried before and haven’t had one. Jin mentions the possibility of seeing a doctor. During this conversation Jin realizes that Sun doesn’t want to have a child. This leads to a fight about what Jin does for Sun’s father.

Next we see Sun enter a hotel room with her own keycard. In the room we see Jae Lee, the man that her parents had tried to make her marry before she met Jin. The situation appears to be suspicious until it becomes obvious he is giving Sun English lessons.

In the next scene we see Jin and Sun waiting in the doctor’s office for their test results. When the doctor comes in he begins asking Sun about her father. Jin interrupts and asks the doctor for the results. The doctor explains that Sun has endometriosis and the scarring has completely blocked her fallopian tubes. Even with surgery it is impossible for her to have a child. Jin accuses Sun of knowing this before they were married. Sun comes back at him by saying that she was lying so she could trap a fisherman’s son. Jin stomps out at this.

Next we see Sun staring out a window. She is back in her English classes. Jae interrupts her thoughts and asks her what is wrong; she has been distracted the entire session. Sun explains about the doctor and Jin’s reaction and that she was actually happy to hear they couldn’t have a child. Jae asks why she is there and when she says to learn English he tells her that she has been nearly fluent for months. Sun then admits that she plans to leave for America. Jae tries to talk her out of leaving and when Sun tries to explain that she doesn’t want to stay with Jin Jae tells her he isn’t asking her to stay for Jin. You either want her or not dude. It’s too late now.

Next we see Sun walking her dog down the street when her doctor comes up in his Mercedes. He asks Sun to get in the car, but when she refuses he jumps out and says that he has to explain something to her. He tells her that it was not Sun that couldn’t have children, it was Jin. He didn’t tell them because he works for Sun’s father and he feared for his life.

MAIN STORY (or is it the side story?):

We see Sun working in her garden. Suddenly we hear a shuffling in the bushes. Sun begins to look around and the scene where Charlie pretended to be the Others and abduct her is mimicked, minus the rain and Vincent One or both are always around when bad things happen. Ever notice that?. Then suddenly Jin bursts out of the jungle. He asks her what she is doing and she explains that she is working in her garden. Jin goes off about how the Others attacked her there and how she isn’t safe there by herself. Sun stresses that she wants to work in her garden and so Jin goes and tears up every plant. He tells her that she now has no reason to be there. Sun goes running off into the jungle.

We see Sun come running out of the jungle and lean against some trees holding her stomach. Rose and Bernard are walking past on the beach arguing about how Bernard never thinks. They see Sun and asks her if she is okay, she looks pale. She explains that she is fine. They give her a drink of water and then she asks them what is wrong. Bernard explains that Rose is upset because he forgot her birthday. Rose goes off about how he doesn’t think and he tries to explain that he doesn’t even know what day of the week it is. “Saturday,” states Rose. How many days have they been on the island at this point? This could give us a clue to the date. Sun walks on, leaving them to argue.

Sun goes to Sawyer, who is reading “Are you There, God? It’s Me Margaret” by Judy Blume. Sun wants to look through Sawyer’s stuff for something. Sawyer, of course, says no but if she tells him what she needs he will get it for her. They argue a bit until Sun is ready to walk off and then she finally tells him that she needs a pregnancy test. Ironic that Sawyer was reading a book about a girl coming of age (first period-becoming fertile). I had to ask my wife on that one.

Next we see Sun in the jungle looking at the box. It is made by Widmore Labs. I know we have seen that before. Where? Hurley comes walking along with a candy bar in his hand. He sees Sun and stumbles an excuse about finding it in the jungle, unmelted. He even offers to share. He is getting sloppy. How long before he is busted by the whole group? Sun is too nervous to even notice the significance of Hurley with food and just says hi and lets him go on by.

Next we see Sun with Kate waiting for the test results to show up. When they come up they are positive. They don’t know how accurate they are and so they go to Jack. Jack explains that they are fairly accurate. When it is obvious that Sun is nervous about Jin Jack tells her that she needs to talk to Jin and tell him the whole truth, whatever that may be.

Next we see Bernard out with Jin. Jin is fishing and Bernard appears to be. Jin decides to help him, but Bernard explains that he is looking for oysters, not fish. Trying to make Rose a special meal? Jin tells him that there are no oysters. Bernard gets frustrated at this. At this time Sawyer comes walking up and calls Jin Daddy-o. Sawyer spills the beans to Bernard about Sun being pregnant, but he doesn’t think Jin knows yet. He is completely insensitive to Jin’s lack of English. Jin looks back and forth but doesn’t understand a word.

Next we see Jin replanting all of Sun’s plants in her garden. Sun comes walking along and Jin says that he is correcting a mistake. He explains that he hates fighting and that he needs her. He doesn’t understand anyone else. Sun at this point tells Jin that she is pregnant and after he calms down she explains to him what the doctor told her. Jin asks how she could be pregnant and Sun immediately swears that she has not been with an other man. Jin says that it must be a miracle then. Like Locke’s legs? Sun asks if she can stay in her garden alone for a bit and Jin says okay.

SIDE STORY (But the Main plot):

Ana-Lucia is running along the beach and comes up to her tent to find Locke sitting there waiting for her. Locke tries to make small talk but Ana cuts right to the chase. She asks why he is there. He had barely said a word to her and now he is waiting for her outside her tent. Locke tells her about Henry and says that he wants her to interrogate him.

Jack steps out of the shower in the hatch to find Locke at the bathroom sink shaving. Jack quickly covers himself and asks Locke why he couldn’t wait. NOT COOL DUDE!!! WTF! Locke explains that the humidity opens his pores and without shaving cream he was using what he could.

Locke then admits that he also thought it was a good time to discuss what to do with Henry. He thinks that bringing in Ana-Lucia would be a good idea. When Jack asks why Locke reminds him that he went to her to form an army. Jack says he will talk to her but Locke explains that she is already in there.

Inside the armory Ana is talking to Henry and they discuss how Ana was in the tail section and Henry wants to know why she is so interested in his story. Ana tells him about how she thought the wrong guy was one of the Others and she never makes the same mistake twice.

Outside Jack is worrying about Ana and Locke is looking through the albums. We see Geronimo Jackson clearly once again. When Jack asks how he knows that Henry hasn’t snapped her neck Locke asks how he knows she hasn’t snapped his.

Inside Henry is telling Ana his story and Ana quickly asks why he doesn’t have a beard. He explains that he shaved because he needed one thing to make him still feel human. Ana tells him that if he would just draw a map to the balloon she would go find it and everyone would feel better about him. Henry is hesitant because he thinks that he is dead already. No matter what that won’t change because they have been looking for someone to blame for everything that has happened to them. Ana tells him that if he draws a map and they find his balloon he will be find but if he doesn’t draw a map then that is exactly what will happen to him.

When Ana leaves she says that she needs more time with him. Locke says that she has all the time she needs and he says that she has all the time she needs. She says that she will be back the next day, if it is okay with Jack.

Ana leaves and goes to Sayid who is building something with Charlie. Charlie says it is a bit large for a dining room table and Sayid says that if they cut them in half it will serve its purpose. What exactly are they building? Ana wants to talk to Sayid alone about the hatch but Charlie knows she is talking about Henry. Ana shows Sayid the map that Henry drew. She never showed it to Jack or Locke because they are too busy worrying about each other. She wants Sayid to come with her to search for his balloon.

As they go in search of the balloon they find a landmark that matches the map. Sayid doesn’t think it means anything. Ana tries to make a joke but Sayid doesn’t react. As they move on Charlie sees Ana looking at him from behind and asks if she is looking at his bum. She says that she is looking at his gun and that he should give it to someone who knows how to handle it. Charlie says maybe so but the last time she had a gun she murdered someone. Sayid interrupts them and Charlie gives the gun to him. They then decide to camp for the night.

While around the campfire Ana and Sayid are talking and Ana asks why he is more willing to talk to her than everyone else who hates her when he has more reason to hate her. Sayid explains that she didn’t kill Shannon, they did.

The next morning Ana wakes to find Sayid staring at her. Psycho much? Thunder rolls and it looks like it is about to rain. They get their stuff together as Charlie comes out of the woods with papayas. They move on.

They walk into an open area that is where the map said the balloon would be. Sayid is not surprised to find nothing. Ana wants to look around more but Sayid is determined that Henry lied. Ana tells him that if he wants her to back his plan that she needs to be sure. So they divide the are into three search areas.

Finally we see Jack and Locker in the hatch. Jack lets Henry out to join them for breakfast. Henry sits at the table with Locke while Jack is still standing. Henry looks around and asks about the computer but Jack just says it is nothing. Henry seems surprised to find cereal and asks how old it is. It occurs to Henry that they know nothing.

Henry then comments that this must be his good behavior for drawing the map for Ana. Jack and Locke are both shocked and Henry kind of digs at them abit about their fighting and how he wouldn’t share with them either. He then messes with them by saying that if he were one of them that he would draw a map to trap, or an ambush. Then when they got there a bunch of his people would be waiting and they would use them to trade for him. He guesses it’s a good thing that he’s not one of them. Then he asks if they have milk.

It's getting late. I will save all of my speculations for tomorrow. You guys debate until then, unless I get back first.

I sat down to watch this episode at 9PM, you know, the time they used to air it since the season start, only to discover that for some reason, it was at 8PM, this time.

To say I was infuriated by their inability to mainting a 🤬 stable, regular schedule for a single progam would be an euphemism.

...now I have to get it by other means if I want to see it.

Carl.
I sat to watch this episode at 9PM, you know, the time they used to air it... to see that for some reason that is beyond me, it was at 8PM, finally.

To say I was infuriated by their inability to mainting a 🤬 stable schedule for a single progam would be an euphemism.

...now I have to get it by other means if I want to see it.
I watched it at 9. The schedule change must have been local.

I tried PMing you a way to get the episode, but your box is full.

Carl.
:ouch:

And you know what was aired at 9?

American Idol. :dunce: That could have stayed within the South side of the border.
Are you watching in America? American Idol is on Fox and Lost is on ABC. I am so confused now.

Well, it wasn't on ABC, but on CTV, a canadian channel who is also airing lost. It's actually playing on 3 channels with our cable plan... and it was at 8 for all 3 of them.

It plays at 8PM here, Central Time. It was on the same time it's always been on.

Henry slipped up for a moment there.. I'm now firmly convinced that he's one of the Others.

Remember that the Others don't think of themselves as "bad guys". They're scientists (or some such) just doing their thing by whatever means necessary. Henry's statement about the Others is what convinced me.. "These people you seem to think are your enemies". That makes it very clear that Henry doesn't consider the Others to be their "enemies". And all he would have to go off of is what they described to him. And they would only have told him bad things.. based soley on their descriptions of the Others, Henry should have thought of them as evil crazy maniacs wandering the jungle... but he doesn't. He knows the Others.

Trying to make Rose a special meal?.
He also said to Jin, "Pearl". I think he was looking for a birthday present. Then again, maybe he was just looking for some food.
