Has there been any news on whether or not this game will have a subscription fee?

I am guessing not, as it isn't an MMO in the traditional sense of you as an individual are exploring a world. With more than one map and no AI characters (so far) I believe that it will just be more like a massive version of Warhawk, and less like WoW.

I'm not so sure. I just don't see how conventional online gaming can run 256 players in a game at a time.

8v8 teams scattered over a huge map, most of the time you won't see all the players on the map, but there was talk of a 128 vs 128 battle on the e3 press demo. This is possible as the PC games are uterliseing these kind of numbers online......not been seen on a console however, most so far is Resistance 2's 60 player battles. Saying that with a system platform being a standard (ie all systems being PS3's) and if they incorporate a ping time system that only allows you to join game sizes dependant on your personal ping time to a particular server it should work flawlessy, Unfortunatley if a similar system is used in MAG some people with low bandwith conections would be restricted in the size of rooms they could enter........But entering into a 32 player game with a 0.5 meg connection and complaining about lag is the norm for some people as they bring the room, and everyones game to a juddering mess.......sorry sarcastic poke at a pet hate LOL

its not hard at all. you dont see it on consoles but on computers these kinds of numbers are normal. all you have to do is move over the logic of designing a game for a PC and move it to the console and achieving thee numbers is no problem. this is really the second game of this type on a console system, the first being the latest socom. all you need to do is make sure your code is good and you have proper running servers and these numbers shouldnt be hard to acheive. heck you could play FFXI on the PS2 and that is an MMORPG so alot more people then 256.

Im guessing I'm in then, or have a good chance :D I kinda figured it would already be on GTP so didn't think to post it :/, sorry guys!

I'm am downloading the beta now, but it's getting late here and I have to work in the morning so I wont get to play until tomorrow. I'll let you know my opinions of the gameplay this weekend.

I don't like Quorn, not that I have anything against vegitarians......💡

Sorry couldn't resist.

I guess I'll be waiting to next week to find out if I'm getting a code or not. Luckily I have 4 people from my clan signed up so we're bound to get one of us in to get some opinion.

Did anybody else get this issue?

In order:
- downloaded MAG BETA from store
- downloaded 33MB patch
- made room for 3GB's of data
- started to download files
- got disconnected...
- THE IMPORTANT BIT...then when re-establishing connection being told I don't have enough room on my HDD.

But I've just deleted stuff for 3GB's of data and now it wants another 3GB's since I lost connection.

Is the MAG BETA eating up HDD space with anyone else?

I got the updates and stuff ok, i just haven't been able to be around when the servers have been available unfortunately. The game seems ready to go though, just might be in tonight for the late server times.

Yup , same here , but fortunately it doesn't add up every time you lose connection to server so I had 5 GB of free space, lost connection to server, tried downloading again and it said the same thing -> "not enough disc space" (even though in Game Info screen it said MAG already took 3 GB of my HDD), so I deleted few more things (bye bye useless PS Home) and it started downloading at the same spot it stopped before (of course I lost connection to servers after few hours but it didn't took ANOTHER 3 GB of space).

So if you want to download MAG Beta , you need at least 6 GB of free space just to be safe (after the download finishes you can use the remaining free space on HDD to your liking). ;)

That's interesting...so the game forces users to delete content yet the download only takes up space it needs.

Also how did you manage to delete HOME? When I originally installed HOME the system told me that the HDD will be partitioned so, in essence, it's always there whatever you do.

If I had 120 GB HDD or 160 GB HDD it wouldn't be a problem, unfortunately I only have 40 GB HDD so I had to delete few things and the problem with recognizing free HDD space is just a bug/glitch (after all this is BETA)

You can delete almost anything you want from your PS3 (like PS Home , Playstation Life or Picture Viewer) , to do so:

1. select Playstation Home Icon on your PS3 XMB
2. push "triangle"
3. you'll have options like "info" , "delete" etc
4. select "delete"
5. voila! , extra 3,5 GB of HDD space is at your disposal ;)

It is true what you wrote about PS3 Home taking some HDD space "in advance" but all this disappears when you delete the whole Playstation Home from the system, so no worries..

Anyway I tried it for first time yesterday and I have to say I'm REALLY impressed with the BETA , I've never been part of something that massive before and the best part is I didn't notice any lag whatsoever which was my biggest fear before playing.

I hope to meet some of the GTP members on the battlefield. (I'm part of the Raven Faction btw :) )
