Astros' management may be in a funk. Some fans want Cecil Cooper fired as head coach of the Astros. We don't begin play again until tomorrow night when we take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I, and other Astros' fans, don't want the Astros to be stuck on 18 wins. This, even though we're often known as a slow-starting team.

Its a start. Not sure what will happen in the short term but could it really make things worse for us.

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have fired manager Clint Hurdle less than two years after their incredible "Roctober" run to the World Series. He was replaced by bench coach Jim Tracy. Without reliable hitting, pitching or defense, the Rockies stumbled to an 18-28 start and were 14½ games behind Los Angeles in the NL West heading into Friday night's action.

Hurdle, who had been Colorado's manager since replacing Buddy Bell three weeks into the 2002 season, was 534-625 for a .460 winning percentage in his seven-plus seasons.

Since the Rockies' one and only trip to the World Series in 2007, where they were swept by the Boston Red Sox, Colorado was 24 games under .500 with Hurdle at the helm.

Tracy has a 562-572 managerial record with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2001-05) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2006-07), with a division title in 2004. He joined the Rockies' staff this winter at the behest of general manager Dan O'Dowd.

You never know, I was fuming when the D-Backs fired Melvin and hired AJ Hinch who had 0 managerial experience over a guy like Chip Hale who has tons of managing experience in the minor leagues. So far after the change, the D-Backs haven't gotten that much better, they have a 9-10 record after the change, but the big thing is they haven't gotten worse though.

But, things like these, you never know what can happen. Maybe the Rocks just needs a different voice in the dugout to motivate them to play hard, they just might start going on a tear and win 10 games in a row and get into the NL West race. Only time will tell.

Losing streak O-VAH! Astros whipped some Pirate booty (bad pun) 6-1. Brian M. for Houston pitched a complete game for the win. Texan Ross Ohlendorf was the loser for Pittsburgh. We're now 19-27. So to fulfill Cecil Cooper's 90-win prediction, we're about 71 wins away from 90. Will win #20 come tomorrow night when it's Wandy Rodriguez vs. Jeff Karstens? We shall see.

Hope your team won...

TS, congratulations to your D-Backs for taking down the Braves at Chase Field. Sorry I can't say the same for my Astros, currently trailing 5-2 in the Top/Bottom 8th as of this post...

[UPDATE] Astros lost 7-4. Rubber game is Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Haha I know, the D-Backs always seem to play really good when their games are aired on network TV.

^ Meanwhile, we (Houston, not necessarily the Astros) fall on our faces on national TV. The Astros took 2 out of 3 by winning 2-1 at Pittsburgh. That's win #20 for my boys.

20 down, 70 wins to go!

Tribe was able to steal a win today against N.Y., winning by a score of 5 to 4 thanks to Jhonny Peralta's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.Game 4 tomorrow, then it's off to Minnesota for a 3 game set with the Twins.

Hope all of your teams did something good this weekend. 👍

Giants beat the Cardinals 2/3... Zito pitched great again yesterday but our offense froze.. Zito has a 1-6 record this year but is pitching fantastic... More proof records mean nothing.

I found out that the next series for my Astros will be at home against the Colorado Rockies. This is our chance to get revenge on the Rockies after losing the last series against those boys. This ain't Mile High. From the the Mile High City... to Space City. Welcome to hot-as-hell Houston, Rockies!

Astros come back home and win 4-1 against Colorado. Win #21 for the Astros. I found out that this will be a four-game tilt. Have to see if the Astros' bats will remain juiced...

Woot D-Backs are taking advantage of the Manny-less dodgers, and beat them last night 3-2. Billy Buckner pitched another great game, 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 ER. :)

Helps that you were going up against Keroda, who I think is a terrible pitcher. I'm glad to see some of the D-Backs turning around, specially Upton; He's one of my favorite players and it was kind of sad to see him play so poorly.

Yeah, Upton got off to a slow start but he has been outstanding the last couple of weeks, not only offensively, but he's made some great plays in right field.

It wouldn't surprise me if he made the All-Star roster this year.

grrrrrr......Tribe lost 5 to 2 to N.Y :grumpy:.Lost 3 out of 4 to them.:ouch:
On to Minnesota for 3 game set with the Twins, then off to Chicago for a weekend set with the ChiSox.

Woo, we're spanking the brewers tonight. FSMarlins is so funny when there's not a lot of action going on. The announcers take e-mails from the viewers and read them on air. Some girl e-mailed them and was asking whether they think her family should get hardwood or carpeted floors. One of the guys says, "Well, she's a teenage girl so you think she prefers carpets because you can just vacuum them instead of sweeping." Then the other guy says, "Yeah, but she's also a teenage girl, which means that it's easier to sneak out of the house on carpet." SNAP!

Astros won 3-2 over Colorado in 11 innings. Russ Ortiz (HOU) got the win while Josh Fogg (COL) lost. The only jack of the game was from Miguel Tejada (his sixth). My Astros aren't a good team right now, but neither are the Rockies. This would be the kind of game some ESPN or FOX sports show host would give my Astros a cheap shot.

Brian Moehler (HOU) vs. Jason Marquis (COL) Wednesday night!

The D-backs bullpen always finds a way to screw things up for Dan Haren. He went 7 innings and only gave up 1 run against the Dodgers, but Tony Pena and Dan Schlereth come out in the 8th and gave up 5 runs and 3 walks, costing the snakes a win in LA.

Dan Schlereth's sister (or wife... whoever that girl in the stands was) is FARKING HOT!

Speaking of All Stars.........got any ideas, picks for this years All Star game yet ?

Definitely not Manny. 👎

AL, I think Miguel Cabrera, Dustin Pedroia and Evan Longoria making the start
NL, Albert Pujols, Orlando Hudson, Justin Upton (fingers crossed :)) will start

Any team wants Tom Glavine? He was released recently from the Braves.

*raises hand*

The D-backs could certainly use another starter, with Brandon Webb's status still questionable as well as the reliabilty of the other starters besides Dan Haren and Doug Davis. Although, Webb has been throwing lightly the last couple weeks and threw a bullpen session last night in LA.

If anybody gets Glavine, they know that he's still capable of performing like he did when he was part of that trio in Atlanta (with John Smoltz and Greg Maddux) but his shoulder is a big liability that might scare teams away.

You know, there were rumors a few days ago of Roy Oswalt playing for the Chicago White Sox. If that was a true rumor, our rotation would be even more screwed than it is now.

Astros will win this series as they won 6-4 tonight. I haven't seen any of these games in this series. I sometimes think my influence on watching certain games usually hinders the Astros' performance, so I've tuned away from the TV set. Astros need every win they can get in this 10-game home stand. Win #23 of (hopefully) 90 from Cecil Cooper's prediction.

The D-Backs lost 1-0 last night in LA, Jon Garland pitched much better than his last outing against the Braves, he only allowed that run in 6 innings pitched. The offense was lost last night though.

Colorado gets a consolation win by beating our brains out 10-3. It's on to the next series for my Astros. Two more series at home before heading back on the road.

Soo the Giants played 2 games yesterday and Randy Johnson got his big 300 in the first! Giants also won the second game at a score of 4-1. Cain gets the win too.
