Much closer game this time around, but the Astros are still stuck on 29 wins. Texas won 5-4 over my Astros. I'm not expecting many wins for my Astros here in Interleague play. I think after this, we... I think we play Detroit IN Detroit for our next series. All the Astros can do is salvage something instead of losing to the Rangers (no shame in losing to them, but this is a rivalry series).

What a tale of 2 games for the D-Backs and Royals. Tuesday's game was all about Gil Meche's complete game shutout and poor defense by the snakes (D-Backs lost 5-0), while last it was about Max Scherzer dominating and poor defense by the guys from KC (D-Backs won 12-5).

I just wondered how the rest of the league was doing so I will pass it along to you all. The Rockies are on quite a roll but still haven't made much of a dent in the Dodger lead by still being 10 back in the NL west. Lots of season left but, Wild Card anyone?!

A little update on my Astros... I found out they won one out of three at the Texas Rangers, then won this series 2 out of 3 at the Minnesota Twins. So that means they now have 32 wins, which is 58 shy of Cecil Cooper's predicted 90-win season for the Astros.

Up next, the boys return home to hot-as-hell Houston to try to entertain the Kansas City Royals. Tuesday night, it's Russ Ortiz (HOU) from Encino, California... going up against the amazing Zack Greinke (KC) from Orlando, Florida. Wednesday's match will be the struggling Roy Oswalt (HOU) against Denver boy, Luke Hochevar (KC). Luke was born the same year as me- 1983. Then in the series finale, it's Brian Moehler (HOU) against Brian Bannister (KC) from Scottsdale, Arizona. Then for the weekend, we'll try and entertain the Detroit Tigers at home in a three-game set.

Come on, Astros! Keep up the great work!

The NL West aside, it's pretty close all the way around.

The D-Backs played probably some of the worse baseball this weekend in Seattle; the bullpen cost us the lead Friday and Saturday night, and terrible infield defense cost us the game yesterday. 👎

They'll be back at home this week with more interleague play, starting tonight(?) with a series against the Texas rangers.

All I can say is, TS... your snakes will need plenty of venom to take down the boys from Arlington, Texas. They have no problem running up the score.

Same with the D-Backs, some nights they can easily score 7 or more runs and on some nights they're lucky to only get 2 or 3 hits.

Bad,bad, bad rumours in Cleveland, the press, the news are all spitting out hints that Eric Wedge is now on a very hot seat, managerial changes in the Tribes future ? Lost the last 6 in a row. :ouch: We'll see........

A close loss is still a loss. I haven't seen an Astros game in at least a week. We lost 2-1. Now, there was word that Zack didn't pitch his best, but the Astros still failed to tame the Royals. They have two more chances tomorrow night and Thursday.

I think the D-backs would be a very good candidate for the most inconsistent team in the MLB, the series in Seattle couldn't have gone any worse, but last night against the Rangers, the snakes were absolutely flawless, great outing by Max Scherzer, the offense picked him up and the bullpen was finally able to lock it down.

Astros lost 2-1 on Tuesday, 4-3 on Wednesday, and won Thursday's match 5-4. Lance Berkman became the third player in Astros history to 1,000 RBIs. And as I read online, we had all kinds of errors in Game 3. Up next, we try and entertain the Detroit Tigers at home in a three-game set. This will be our final(?) Interleague match this season (unless we make the World Series again). We are now at 33 wins. Our record is now 33-37.

After this series, we'll return to NL play as we're on the road in California at two beautiful ballparks. The Astros are heading to San Diego this Monday for a four-game set, then we play in beautiful San Francisco against the Giants in a three-game set there. 'Nuff said about how much I love AT&T Park.

meh

D-backs lost to the Rangers in extras, 9-8 last night, Jon Garland was decent, but the infield made a couple errors that allowed 2 runs, which proved to be costly.

The Snakes have one final interleague series left, this time against the Anaheim Angels this weekend.

The D-Backs and Angels will play on Saturday on FOX. Not sure what game I'd get in my area.

The Astros trailed 4-0 for most of the game, but rallied to win 5-4. That's now 34 wins for the Astros. There may be a heatwave going on here in Texas, but not just for the city of Houston... the Astros have to keep this going to give themselves some confidence for when they go back to their NL schedule. Chris Sampson (HOU) got the win while LaTroy Hawkins (HOU) got the save. J. Zumaya (DET) took the loss.

Saturday night's match will involve Felipe Paulino (HOU) vs. Alfredo Figaro (DET). I almost thought of Final Fantasy 3 (FF6 in Japan) when I saw "Figaro." Anyhow, the Tigers' 7-game win streak was snapped by the Astros. Can the Astros continue putting the heat on their opposition? We'll see.

No D-Backs no!

The snakes are really missing Brandon Webb, and they're hoping that he doesn't need surgery on his pitching shoulder, Billy Buckner (who took Webb's spot in the rotation) got dominated by the Angels last night, 8 runs, 7 hits in only 1 and two-thirds innings. There was no coming back as the Angels owned us, 12-3.

Hopefully the D-Backs can shine when their game goes live on Fox today at 4pm ET.

The game in my area will be the Chicago Cubs at the Chicago White Sox. All I can say for the D-Backs is... just have some devilish hitting against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. For my Astros, I just hope that the Astros can keep on keeping on against the Detroit Tigers.

I need to find video of Erick Aybar's bunt homerun today, that was a great example of what the D-Backs have been doing every other night this season.

We are not 36-37. Instead, we're 35-38 as we lost 4-3 to Detroit. I found out we beat Detroit on Saturday night. Now, it's back to regular league play. San Francisco at Milwaukee was the only non-Interleague series this past weekend. My Astros will be going to SoCal for four games, then NoCal for three games. Astros in San Diego for four, and in beautiful San Francisco for three.

Hope all of your favorite teams won. Now let's get back to regular AL/NL play!

The Astros won 3-1 over San Diego inthis first of four games. Win #36 of Cecil Cooper's predicted 90. As much as I love bragging about my Astros, I want to show some love for the San Francisco Giants (who my Astros face next) who hammered the Cardinals 10-0 in St. Louis. The baby-faced pitching demon Tim Lincecum is now 8-2 on the year as he took the win.

Hope your favorite teams won and least favorite teams lost!

It wasn't a homerun. It was a bunt single and a score on errors. Bunt homerun is impossible unless none of the fielders go to field the ball.

The right fielder should be backing that up, from the looks of it he committed no action to do so. But yes, basics like can hurt a struggling team.

Well, here in the Bay Area there has been a lot of early Wild Card race chatter; While I am still skeptical whether we have a chance or not, as of lately we have been playing great. Lincecum just got his third complete game in his last 4 starts, we scored 17 runs in two games against two NL Central leading teams and gave up 0. Pablo Sandoval has figured out how to start hitting home runs ALL the time now; and has quickly turned into a threat as he continues to smoke the ball. Schierholtz is now getting playing time and brought his AVG. up to .322 and is continuing to get multiple hits per game while being a great defensive right fielder with a cannon of an arm. Torress continues to come in as a 4th fielder with amazing defensive capabilities, good at bats takes his pitches and waits for something good to hit and then steal a bag relatively easily.

Rowand has been hot at lead off which is good because we really need someone who can get on base or even lead the game off with a home run which he has done 3 times this year. Renteria continues to be terrible at times and great at times not sold yet on him, but as of the last few games hes looked just as good as a few years ago minus the power. Uribe has proved me wrong and shown that he can play any infield position with little flaw and have some much needed pop. Molina has sucked, and is being the opposite of what he was at the beginning of the year. Winn continues to be exactly like Renteria but will likely turn around in August/September like every year and go back to .300. Downs and Whiteside have both shown some great upside but they are still learning the league so I'm going to give them another year or so.

And with out starting rotation now looking a little different, Ryan Sadowski is now pitching for Sanchez in the five whole and Sanchez has moved to the pen and looked great. I saw Ryan Sadowski in Fresno earlier this year and he was un-hittable in the first 6 innings before giving up a solo home run. He did the same thing against the Brewers and pitched 6 scoreless innings. Time Lincecum and Matt Cain are both pitching like all-stars and are both likely to be in the game. The starter I think should be Haren as he has been slightly more shut out. But I'm not complaining with 2 sub 3 era pitchers. Lincecum 2.37 and Cain with 2.57

Johnson has turned around and looked better then ever his last few starts after landing #300, and he pitches against Carpenter tonight so it should be a good duel. And Zito has had a few bad outings this year but is pitching great 2 out of 3 times which is great for a #4 starter.

If our Bullpen continues to be lights out, and we continue to hit like this or acquire a big clean up hitter, I see us giving the Wild Card a ride.

I really think they should bring up Bowker though, last year he came up without taking an at bat in AAA and he is tearing it up there so if we can bring him up and use him as a #3 hitter in front of Panda where he should be at clean up.

The Giants are a lot of fun to watch now that they are playing way above expectations.

I know, but that play just shows how **** the D-Backs defense is this year.

This series is now a 1-1 tie. San Diego won 4-3 over my Astros Tuesday night. Monday night's game with Roy Oswalt resulted in a complete game two-hitter. The Astros are now 36-39. Game 3 of 4 is later tonight (since it's Wednesday now).

Mike Hampton (HOU)
vs.
Walter Silva (SD)

(following courtesy of: Yahoo! Sports)
Brian Moehler is 4-4 on the year with a 6.05 ERA, 37 strikeouts, 17 walks, and 1.57 WHIP (which I found stands for "Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched"). Walter Silva is 0-1 with an ERA of 9.35, eight strikeouts, 13 walks, and a WHIP of 2.02. Not exactly a pitching duel.

D-Backs beat the Reds 6-2 last night! Dan Haren was fantastic, as always, went 7 innings, only gave up 4 hits. He also brought his bat, he went 2-2 with a double and his first career home run.

I hope you all are taking notes! :mischievous:

(AP) Jason Marquis pitched a two-hitter to become the first 10-game winner in the National League, leading the Colorado Rockies over the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Marquis delivered a two-run single at the plate and outpitched Chad Billingsley in a matchup of potential All-Stars. Brad Hawpe homered for the resurgent Rockies, who set a franchise record for wins in a month with 21.

Marquis (10-5) tied Kevin Slowey, Zack Greinke, Roy Halladay and Tim Wakefield for the major league lead in wins, facing two batters more than the minimum and throwing just 86 pitches in his third career shutout.

That was an UGLY pitch too. 76mph? What? That sucks even for a change-up.

You're going to brag about a performance against the Reds?

Go Reds!!!
