Unless we suffer a meltdown, we should win this game to go to 37-39... because we're leading 6-1 in the Top of the 9th at San Diego. More to come when I edit this post.

[UPDATE] The Astros ended up winning 7-1. I heard that LaTroy Hawkins' (HOU) first seven pitches were all strikes. That's pretty cool. Series finale for this one begins at 2:00 PM EDT on Thursday. Then after this series, we try to entertain the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park for the weekend. Yep, from [far southern] SoCal to NoCal (or NorCal?). But first, we have to deal with the Padres one last time in this series tomorrow afternoon.

Hope your teams are doing well!

My Astros are ahead in the Bottom of the 9th by a score of 6-1 over San Diego. There's a rain delay (maybe... it rains in California? :)). Unfortunately, there isn't much to be happy for if you're a D-Backs fan. They lost 3-2 at Cincinnati in 10 innings. Cordero was the winning pitcher for CIN, while Zavada took the loss for Arizona.

[UPDATE] The game finished 7-2 in favor of the Astros. The delay was for a swarm of bees in San Diego. Ouch! I heard it was delayed for 52 minutes. However, the damage was already done by the Astros as they took care of business 7-2.

Up next, a three-game tilt in San Francisco.

I've been as quiet in this thread lately, as about as quiet as the Tribe is lately.Man,it's hard to be a Cleveland fan sometimes.

Going to tonight's game against John's Astro's! Rookie Sadowski will be pitching tonight, which is really exciting for me because I saw him pitch with the Fresno Grizzlies earlier and he was great. He also was able to keep the Brewers deadly lineup quiet for 6 innings so it shall be interesting how he does in his first home game.

Holy s:censored:! We lost 13-0? You're on, Giants. I know San Francisco is beautiful and so is AT&T Park, but the Astros better not take in San Francisco's loveliness too much to where they fail to realize they're playing a baseball game. Now at most, we're looking at potentially finishing .500 leaving San Francisco. At worst, we'll be 38-42!

Here's the rundown:

Runs|Hits|Errors
HOU: 0|4|0
SF: 13|15|0

Now it's on to face Tim Lincecum. Flourish or flounder... your choice, Astros. Don't take beatings like this ever again.

I found out that my Astros lost 9-0 today. I know I said "stop losing 13-0," but 9-0 isn't much better. Can the Astros finally score a damned run in this series?

What's the best way to avoid getting embarassed on the road? Leave with a BANG! That's what the Astros did, beating the Giants 7-1. Now we're coming home to play Pittsburgh in a three-game set, followed by a series against Washington.

Astros now 39-41, but could have done much better than what they did all series long.

It's time to think of all-star players as well as the Home Run Derby participants. I know Hunter Pence (or Geoff Blum?) and Miguel Tejada are all-star reserves, and I know one of the Home Run Derby participants will be Prince Fielder.

Astros won 4-1 last night (since it's Tuesday as of this post) here in Houston, but this beating was NOTHING compared to the annihilation(?) Philadelphia put on Cincinnati in Philly. The Phillies won 22-1 over the Reds! The Phillies put up 10 runs in the first inning alone. Cincy is probably still picking up brain cells and teeth as I type right now. :)

Hope your teams won!

[UPDATE] The Reds had 1 run, 5 hits, and 1 error. The Phillies had 22 runs, 21 hits, and 0 errors. This even included a Grand Slam or two by the Phillies. Like your victories Well Done? Just let the Phillies cook for you!

Umpires managed to make 3 absolutely terrible calls today in the Yankees loss to the Jays. It really makes you wonder if they even care sometimes.

Happens everywhere...

And Pablo Sandoval has taken the lead for the NL Final vote... Then he hits Grand Slam last night, that might get a few more votes.

It's all about the sheriff Mark Reynolds. :sly:

He got the walk off hit last night against the Padres.

Astros lost 6-3 against Pittsburgh today. We're now stuck on 40 wins. The rubber game is tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 PM CDT. Elsewhere, the Chicago White Sox knocked off the Cleveland Indians 10-6. Very rough go for the Tribe in Chi-town. I think they are what... 33-51 now? Only(?) the Nationals have a more miserable record.

Thanks for coming to town Nationals! You can be on your way now! :)

No sweep in H-Town, but the Astros beat some Pirate booty (pirates, booty, get it?) 5-0. Now that Colorado's done with the Nationals, I'm sure the Rockies saved just enough of the Nationals for my Astros to whip up a bit more. Win #41 for the 'stros.

While we're at it, feel free to chat about All-Star action including Home Run Derby participants.

For the first time this year, the D-Backs were able to bring out the brooms beating the Padres 6-2, sweeping the 3 game set!

So, do any pitchers throw a complete game anymore? I'm just asking because after the Reds loss last night Homer Bailey is getting excuses as to why he can't get in the win column due to his relief pitchers. I have always been of the opinion that a pitcher cannot blame a relief pitcher for a loss if he can't throw a complete game.

Or do I just have fond memories of growing up with a World Series competitor team in Cincy and hearing of guys like Nolan Ryan, which are skewing my view? My dad tends to agree with me, but he still reminisces about the Big Red Machine years too.

Usually depends on the pitch count. If he has thrown north of 100 pitches the coach might be more likely to take him out even if he is still throwing good.

It also might stem from a closer that just needs to stay in a zone and get some game time.

I think Roy Oswalt or Wandy Rodriguez threw a complete game some time ago for my Astros. Complete games are tough work.

Astros lost 11-10 today in ten innings. This was that postponement from the washout in Washington D.C. earlier this season. A chance to reach 45 wins won't be possible. They're now playing to go over .500 heading into after the All-Star Break.

In the first REAL game of this series, the Astros got a win back as they won 9-4 over the Nationals. I found out this is a four-game series, and the Astros are at 42-43 now. A series sweep by the Astros would put them at 45-43. They need to win two more games to be at .500, or sweep the series to be OVER .500. All depends on what they can do against the Nationals.

In the AL, the Yankees are 7-0 against the Minnesota Twins as they won this series. Looks like the Yanks own the Twins.

Meh

D-Backs look like they're back to their old selves after Mark Reynolds didn't win the Final All-Star vote.

The bullpen allowed 10 runs in the 8th inning against the Marlins last night, at one point, they lead 7-0 and ended up losing 14-7.

Fail.

This just in, there is more bias in Charlie Manuel's fat belly then all of MLB put together... He just announced that the replacement for CF Beltran is Jayson Werth of the Phillies... EXCUSE ME?

Look at this... Utley, Howard, Werth, Victorino, Ibanez AND Cole Hammels are all going.. This is such a joke... Ibanez, Utley and MAYBE Werth are AS capable but lets look at some stats here...

And lets not forget they play in park where the smallest wind can turn tiny pop fly's into home runs...

Howard .253 AVG 21 HRs .322 OBP .853 OPS

Werth .268 AVG 20 HRs .373 OBP .894 OPS

Victorino .309 AVG 6 HRs .375 OBP .838 OPS

and with the most bizzare pick...

Cole Hammels 5-5 4.70 ERA 1 CG 92 IP .300 AVG 79 SO (against him) 1.39 WHIP

are you kidding me? I could name 10 other pitchers that aren't in the ASG...

I want to put him in perspective... Lets say.. Barry Zito! Now I don't think he should be in it but look at the stats...

Barry Zito 5-8 4.43 ERA 1 CG 101.2 IP .247 AVG 79 SO 1.37 WHIP

Almost the same accross the board with Zito being a bit more lights out.

Now with some much better pitchers..

Ubaldo Jimenez (Col) 6-8 3.86 ERA 1 CG 109.2 IP .246 AVG 93 SO 1.33 WHIP

Jair Jurrjens (ATL) 6-7 2.91 ERA 0 CG 108.1 IP .243 AVG 75 SO 1.26 WHIP

Roy Oswalt (HOU) 5-4 3.81 ERA 2 CG 113.1 IP .258 AVG 89 SO 1.24 WHIP

Chris Volstad (FLA) 6-8 4.44 ERA 1 CG 107.1 IP .251 AVG 77 SO 1.22 WHIP

Yeah... And I'm seriously pissed with Sandoval who has been a beast this year that hes not on the team.

.328 AVG 13 HRs 50 RBI's 3 3b 24 2b .380 OBP .561 SLG .940 OPS

Ugh... Can't wait for him to play Phillies though... Hes going to smack the ball out of that minor league park so easily.
