Just wrapped up... Astros down 3-1 in the Bottom of the 9th and get a deep extra-base hit to get two Astros home (set up by a double steal). Then after that, Hunter Pence hits a broken bat single. Michael Bourn came home from 2nd to beat the Dodgers 4-3. Heroes finally stepped up for the Astros. All due respect to Villain and his boys, but we needed this one. Astros win 4-3. We got nine hits in the game, but got one error. The Dodgers got 7 base knocks and no errors. Jeff Fulchino got the win (no decision for Bud Norris). Jansen took the loss for the Dodgers.

BIG win for the Astros! However, a sad loss for the Dodgers.

Well, someone has to keep baseball relevant on GTP. One other thing I forgot to note... we made our comeback with two outs in the Bottom of the 9th. Any time you can win under these circumstances, you'll take it. As long as you win, that's all that matters.

Congratulations to all other winners from Monday's games!

Every time I seem to get excited about an Astros win, we seem to fail the next time out. All of the Dodgers' runs came on long balls. A solo jack by LAD made it 1-0, then a Grand Slam made it 5-0. We'd come back, only to fail 5-4. The Rubber Game is tomorrow afternoon. Bill Hall would hit a deep ball that ended up going foul. Game over, Astros lose [again], and the series finale in the Dodgers' ONLY visit to Houston this season is tomorrow afternoon. Day off Thursday followed by Diamondbacks at Astros for the weekend. Five runs and six hits for the Dodgers. Four runs, five hits, and one error for the Astros.

Another Astros fail. Damn!

Cleveland got their teeth knocked out today- losing 14-2 hosting the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox got 14 runs and 20 hits. Cleveland only managed 2 runs, 7 hits, and 2 errors. I've seen that Boston did most of their damage in the very first inning with seven runs. What happened to the Tribe today?

[UPDATE] Fellow Texan J.R. Towles cashed in his first-ever walkoff hit to vault the Astros ahead 2-1 in the Bottom of the 9th. And that's how it finished- 2-1 in favor of the Astros! It was one run (a solo homer) and six hits with the Dodgers, and two runs on nine hits for the Astros today. It was 9th Inning magic again for the Astros to give the Astros their 19th win of the season.

Up next... Diamondbacks at Astros starting Friday night for a three-game set. After that, we're on the road to the Cubs (3 games) on Monday and at the Padres starting next Thursday (4 games).

After the Giants seemed to be unbeatable having a 6 game winning streak and then a 5 game winning streak also losing there 9 game home winning streak the injury bug is back biting hard.

Holy ****ing **** are we sunk now... Ford heading to the DL after a lateral sprain in his left ankle then Fontenot earlier also likely head to the DL and now Posey is now hurt after scary collision at home. Un****ing believable.

So now it looks like this...

Wilson was out for the first couple weeks and had zero spring training due to back and oblique problems.

Ross was out after hurting himself in a spring training catching a routine fly ball. And was out for the first month of baseball.

Torres was out for the first month for nursing a strained left achilles tendon.

Pablo Sandoval has now been out a month with a broken hamate bone. And won't be back for another 2-4 weeks.

DeRosa started off good then went to the DL with lingering discomfort in his wrist. Came back cold (0-21 or something) and then got injured again and will be out likely for the rest of the season.

Zito has been out for over a month with a sprained right foot and will be out another month.

Setup man Santiago Casilla has been out for a month with an inflamed right elbow.

Daren Ford out with a left lateral sprain unknown amount of time, but likely headed to the DL.

Mike Fontenot I heard got injured during tonight's game and they said likely headed to the DL but I do not know the injury or for how long.

Buster Posey couldn't walk after a collision with Florida Marlins outfielder Cousins. Judging by his reaction and the reaction to Duane Kuiper and John Miller and every single one of his teammate and managers he is going to be headed to the DL. This ****ing sucks, he just started tearing it up he had a 13 game hitting streak and was doing everything right. In the end the Giants ****ing lost too..

10 Major injuries in the first freaking 2 months. 2/3 of our starting outfield, one of them being our lead off hitter. Our two best hitters in Posey and Sandoval. Our late inning duo Wilson and Casilla. A starting pitcher and our two utilities. Seriously wtf... But despite all that we have one of the best records in the NL and are in 1st place in the NLW.

I want them to make the DL moves swiftly because playing short handed is currently killing us. I want to see Belt and Culberson up here in the bigs and I want them to stop ****ing playing Tejada because he is ****ing killing us in every way.

/rant

I'm so pissed right now.

But we do have good news... Some of our young studs in the minors are tearing it up one of them is another catching prospect so maybe we will see the Giants pull another Sandoval and move Posey somewhere else.

Truly awesome game for the Phillies last night, 5-4 win in 19 innings. The game went into overtime tied at 3, Jay Bruce homered in the top of the tenth but Ryan Howard matched it with a 420-foot blast in the bottom of the inning. Winning pitcher was second baseman-utility infielder Wilson Valdez, matching a feat last performed 90 years ago by none other than Babe Ruth. Great performances by Dave Herndon and Danys Baez pitching 2 1/3 and 5 innings respectively of shutout ball. Not bad for the mopup men on the Phils staff. Great effort for Carlos Fisher even though he took the loss; 90+ pitches thrown.

Giants DL: is that all? You're still a few short of the Phils' DL this season. Just heard, incidentally that outfielder/PH Ross Gload is headed for the DL with a hip tear. This on top of hearing that Joe Blanton just went back on the list and will be ready to start rehab "in a couple weeks".

I saw that collision at the plate in the Giants game though, it looked really bad for Buster Posey. I really hope he's OK, that kid should still have a brilliant career ahead of him.

What do you mean that's all? We've lost our two best hitters plus many other players for significant amount of time and now Posey is out for the year. Gloat and Blanton aren't good players. I'll give you Utley but you still had Howard.

Belt is coming up and also our top SS prospect Crawford also with catcher Stuart. And in the end Posey wasn't even blocking the plate and is now out for the year with broken ankle and multiple ligament tears.

In all fairness to the Marlins runner, Posey was on the way to the plate and if he had have caught the ball cleanly and wasnt charged, it would have been an easy tag. I think the takeout was the percentage play.
I have zero allegiances to either side, but I really do feel for him with the injury and to his credit, the first thing Cousins did after the play was to go back to Posey (and not celebrate scoring the go ahead run).

Here is the problem though as Cousins (who actually grew up a Giants fan and went to college here in SF) cross the baseline INTO fair territory to take out Posey. That is where the issue is. There was a video that for the life of me I can't find that showed form straight above and showed how much room Cousins actually had to slide around.

I'm not saying what he did was dirty or wrong in essence he just executed it wrong. That's what happens when you are a rookie with the game on the line and your fighting for a BENCH role. If you put an experience vet in there, they would like take the open lane and try and swipe the plate.

The home plate rule should be changed because home plate collisions add absolutely nothing to the game. Except for a very good chance of injury.

Ray Fosse's career was changed after the collision with Pete Rose during a ALL STAR game.

Anyways it turns out Posey has a broken leg along with three torn ligaments in his ankle.

This sucks because everyone except for Posey, Sanchez, Sandoval have been slumping. Well Ross and Torres were fine but have started to jump into a slump. It also doesn't help that Sanchez has been dealing with lingering shoulder soreness so he isn't exactly playing every day. Darren Ford was actually playing good too, well in the limited at bats he got he constantly got on base but hes out too now.

Belt needs to kill it, Huff, Burrell and Torres need to start going back to last years way of playing and wait for a mistake until 2 strikes. The ****ers are swinging at first pitch breaking balls at their back foot.

If I see anything other then Crawford at SS and Burriss at 3rd I'm going to freak. Tejada sucks. At least with Crawford and Burriss you have amazing range and very good D plus lots of speed. Since our power hitters are either injured or struggling but for hits and steal lots of bases. Sadly Bochy hates bunting so we are basically ****ed unless Crawford and Belt show their power potential.

Hindsight is a great thing, and although I have not seen the shot from above, you can tell from all of the videos on MLB.com that cousins swayed into fair territory. I wonder if we would be discussing this differently if Posey caught the ball and Cousins was out?

I wont get into a conversation about the etiquette of plays at home plate since I have only been following the MLB for a few years, but anything that can reduce the likelihood of injuries without sterilising the excitement of it is a good thing.

If the regular season ended today, these could be your fixtures (or just the conference leaders). Yahoo! Sports is my source:

--- American League ---
AL EAST: New York Yankees (27-21)
AL CENTRAL: Cleveland Indians (30-17)
AL WEST: Texas Rangers (26-24)
AL WILD CARD(?): Boston Red Sox (28-22)

--- National League ---
NL EAST: Philadelphia Phillies (31-19)
NL CENTRAL: St. Louis Cardinals (30-21)
NL WEST: San Francisco Giants (27-22)
NL WILD CARD(?): Florida Marlins (29-19)

Good luck to all of your teams this Memorial Day weekend! My Astros will try to entertain the Arizona Diamondbacks at home. I just hope the D-Backs don't inject venom into my Astro boys. Then again, I don't know my snakes.

As for Mr. Buster Posey... get well soon, mate. That was a wicked hit he took at the plate.

Listening to the Dbacks - Astros game right now. We are on a streak and will sweep this trip :) Working our way up to #1!!

From a 6-0 lead to a 7-6 defeat. G**-damned shame. Mad as hell and immensely disappointed. I don't think the Astros want to win games if they let these leads slip away.

It's back to losing... Astros failing to consistently win. The lines:

ARI: 7 runs, 11 hits, 2 errors
HOU: 6 runs, 10 hits, 1 error

Either the Astros let this one slip away, or Arizona was just better for the long haul. This is a damned shame. You're supposed to drive your foot on a team's while you have them down, choking the life out of them to win the game; NOT let them come back and make you look stupid. The Astros looked stupid as they couldn't keep down Arizona after a 6-0 lead. Damn it, some Astros need to be fired (not necessarily players) so we can bring in better talent than the bull:censored: pieces of lackluster talent that let a 6-0 lead slip away. Damn it, I'm sick of this losing s:censored: by my f:censored:ing hometown baseball team! I don't care if we need to bring back Bagwell and Biggio- this is ridiculous failing by the Astros. Credit the D-Backs on the win, but I don't care. This is a lackluster effort. Almost like whatever plagued the Texans and Rockets are just swallowing up the already lethargic Astros.

BULL-f:censored: s:censored: loss!!!!! We are much better than that! Fire somebody right f:censored:ing now for this poor performance tonight! If we're going to keep failing like this, somebody needs to go. This is terrible.

[UPDATE] Ranting aside, the most hurtful part of our loss to the D-Backs was that Humberto Quintero had a sprained right ankle in a collision trying to defend home plate. Q's injury was nowhere near as bad as what Buster Posey endured. Still, I knew something was wrong when I saw him clutching onto his knee or lower leg. All of his weight crashed down on his right ankle with the collision he took. J.R. Towles took over for Humberto Quintero. Worst of all, it was the injury to Humberto Quintero happened as the D-Backs the lead as two runners scored to make it 7-6 in favor of Arizona. This alone was just as bad as losing a sizable lead.

No wonder this game wasn't televised. We let a lead slip away on Friday night, then we don't even get the lead at all in tonight's game. The Astros got their asses handed to by the D-Backs to the tune of an 11-3 beating. The ONLY positive to tonight was that we didn't get blanked. Astros somehow decided in the 9th inning to finally score points based on the scoreboard I noted.

11 runs, 13 hits, and no errors for Arizona. It was 3 runs, 7 hits, and 1 error for the Astros as this lost cause of a season continues. We're what... 19-33 now? Better look ahead to Dynamo soccer or Texans football while the Astros try to save what little winning season or playoff hopes they have left...

Yeah! My Red Sox are finally doing good! Up on the Yanks by 1.5 games. On a 4 game win streak after they beat the tigers 6-3 last night. Finally Carl Crawford is starting to hit.

Fox is getting on my nerves.

They booked the rights to all the games last night that started around 7 PM Eastern, so they weren't available on MLB.TV. In the Boston area, the Red Sox/Tigers were rained out so they put on the Angels/Twins game. Yeah, like the people around here really care about that (no offense intended to the Minnesota and L.A. people).

Meanwhile, I wanted to watch the Phils/Mets game, which I couldn't of course, since it was one of those 7 PM games. Never mind that Fox wasn't offering it in this area.

But the really galling part was, the game wasn't available for viewing for quite a while after it was over. The reason was that the Reds and Braves went into overtime, and they wouldn't allow anybody to view *any* of the games until *all* of them were over with. Finally got to watch the game around midnight.

Three-game sweep. A 4-2 loss for the Astros keeps us stuck at 19 wins. The next series is a 3-game series where the Astros will try to tie for 5th in the NL Central as they play at the Cubs for three. It's a damned shame the Astros haven't done much anything or made any significant noise since 2005. Six years later, we're still a fail-happy team. At this point, we're trying to avoid being the worst team in MLB with the Twins still stuck on 17 wins (and I predicted earlier in the season that the Twins would be just fine).

Sucks to be an Astros fan for 2011. At some point, a Houston sports team HAS to (and in the major sports) get rid of all the failing we've endured. Best follow the Texans or Dynamo until (and if) the Astros get their heads out of the gutter...

The Astros hit the ground running on their seven-game road trip starting with a 12-7 victory at the Chicago Cubs. We struck first with two hits in the first inning. The Cubs would respond with three runs of their own to lead 3-2. When I first saw this game, we were trailing 6-3 in the Top of the 5th. I even asked, "how much are we losing by?" when I first tuned into this game. Seemed like the Astros got better as soon as I checked in. We banged out 16 hits (including back-to-back jacks), but unfortunately picked up two errors. The Cubbies ended up with 7 runs, 10 hits, and 3 errors. It was our first 4-homer game since May 2010(?) as well as the most runs we put on any team this season. Everytime I get excited about the Astros winning and report it on here, the happiness seems short-lived. Next game is tomorrow night. Escalona was the winning pitcher for Houston, and former University of Notre Dame football player Jeff Samardzija took the loss.

That's all from me. Happy Memorial Day and best wishes to your teams!

My Arizona Diamondbacks had an amazing victory over the Florida Marlins yestersay night with a win 15-4:

AZ- 15 runs, 19 hits, 0 errors
FL- 4 Runs, 9 Hits, 1 Error

We are the hottest team in the NL right now. winning 15-17 games in the month of May. Plus i wanna send a congrats to Justin Upton (our right fielder) for his 5-5 last night.

What the bloody hell has gotten into the Astros? We led 1-0 through about 8 innings until the Cubs brought two Cubs home to go up 3-1. After that, we put up 6 runs including a Hunter Pence 3-run bomb to take care of business. This was the first start for Jordan Lyles for the Astros, and he picked up his first hit in the majors. Fresh-faced kid did pretty well. He's a little more innocent-faced than Tim Lincecum. Anyhow... we win 7-3. Astros got seven total runs along with 13 hits and one error. The Cubs only managed three runs and got seven hits and have an error of their own. 21 wins for the Astros now.

Finale of Astros at Cubs is Wednesday afternoon. After that, a four-game weekend series at the San Diego Padres at lovely Petco Park.

As for the D-Backs... you guys are ballin' right now. The 2011 All-Star Game will be at Chase Field, and you all are playing like All-Stars.

What's up with your team(s) right now, GTP?

:( The Red Sox got crushed by the White Sox. The score was 10-7 but until the 7th inning or so the white sox were up 8-1. At least the red sox made a comeback. On a brighter note Game 1 of the Stanly Cup is tomorrow and everyone in Boston is going crazy.

THREE GAME SWEEP! After taking a 3-game sweep, we give one right back! Astros picked up their first three-game sweep just now with a 3-1 victory over the Cubs. It's our first three-game sweep since August last year when we swept the Cardinals. K. Fukudome drew first blood with a lead-off homer. The Astros would respond in the Top of the 2nd with a run. It was a 1-1 tie until the Astros pulled away with two runs. Brett Myers won the game for Houston while Davis took the loss. Melancon picked up the save. You all are probably sick of me ranting about my Astros and worrying, so this is certainly refreshing to see the Astros get a little run going.

HOU: 3 runs, 11 hits, 1 error
CHC: 1 hit, 3 hits, 0 errors

Here is a quote from Hunter Pence on Jordan Lyles' performance last night: "He left the mound like a champion." Lyles got a No Decision last night despite the work he put up last night in our wild win last night.

Here are some other games that wrapped up today (Home team in CAPITAL LETTERS):

• WASHINGTON wins 2-1 over Philadelphia. Former Astro, Roy Oswalt, lost while Lannon won for WAS. Storen saves for WAS.

• Texas blanks TAMPA BAY 3-0. Lewis wins for TEX while Price took the loss for TB. Feliz picks up the save.

• The Chicago White Sox blew out BOSTON 7-4. The winning pitcher was Floyd with Santos getting the save for CHW. Albers was the losing pitcher for BOS.

In progress (as of this post):
• NYY at OAK - 4-2 in favor of NYY, Top of the 6th.
• BAL at SEA - 1-1, Top of the 7th.
• LAA at KC - 0-0, Top of the 5th.

Many more games to come tonight. How is/are your team(s) looking?

Dbacks finally lost last night and broke their winning streak. Although the Giants lost too which leaves them still only a .5 game ahead. We have to figure something out to get us to gain some ground!!

Red sox got blown out again. They are now 2 games down to the damn Yankees. And on a 4 game losing steak. Things are not looking good. :(

Blowout?? Have you seen the TOR-CLE score... 12-0 CLE in the 4th. Jays starter went 2/3 of an inning.

Have changed the radio feed on my PC to game one of the Stanley Cup

Oh well I guess that is a blowout.

Dbacks fell behind in the beginning then came back to a last inning single to bring in the winning run. We win 6-5
