Dbacks finally lost last night and broke their winning streak. Although the Giants lost too which leaves them still only a .5 game ahead. We have to figure something out to get us to gain some ground!!

Naaaawt going to happen. Tejada=soon to be off the roster when Sandoval returns. He pretty much most of our problems as he contributes absolutely nothing to the team.

But bringing up our top SS prospect Brandon Crawford from the high A San Jose Giants has showed to be a good move. This guy is every bit as good defensively that hes been touted. Not only that but he has already show the ability to drive the ball, hit HRs take pitches and hit both breaking balls and fastballs. This kid has 5 ****ing tools and I can't wait to watch him every game. He does what I wish our Vets would do, pull the inside breaking pitch and drive the outside fastball opposite field. Along with Freddy being hot and Cody Ross starting to heat up and hopefully Huffs HR is a sign of things to come. Last year he took awhile to get going but once he does more will follow.

Dbacks havent been playing this good since 2001 And we won the world series then. Justin upton is hits multiple home runs the past few games. Sunday he went 5-5 Kelley Johnson went 4-5 i hit away from the cycle. This is our year. This is going to happen.

They were pretty good in 08' but fell apart later in the season. I personally would blade Haren for being a terrible second half pitcher for that. But the majority of beat writers had the D-Backs to win the west in 09' but they fell apart. But remember you have to bee good the full year, imagine what happens if your two best hitters and a starter get injured at the same time for a extended period of time... Those 6-7 game winning streaks are much harder to do.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Belt was hit on the hand the other day and can't hold the bat right now because of it.. It just feels like teams are hunting at this point >.<

Thats the best thing about our manager Kirt Gibson. He uses every member of the team. sometimes he will take out Kelley Johnson from second and put in Ryan Roberts. Or Parra out of left and put in Bloomquist. He does this with every base and every player does pretty decent. Im really excited to see what will happen the rest of the year. 👍

When I checked into the game, the Astros were up 6-0. We end up winning 7-4. So the Astros decide that NOW is the time to win games. We got our 7-4 victory banging 11 hits and committing no errors. The losing Padres, meanwhile, got only four runs, six hits, and committing three errors. I think this is our first four-game winning streak of the season.

A few other results from today's games and tonight's games... starting with the American League (Home team in CAPITAL letters):

--- AMERICAN LEAGUE ---
• Texas did the impossible, beat CLEVELAND at CLEVELAND 7-4
• Minnesota pounds KANSAS CITY into the ground with an 8-2 victory.
• The MLB's only Pacific Northwest team, SEATTLE defends home with honor winning 8-2 over Tampa Bay. Wow... from Tampa Bay to Seattle. Has to be a VERY long trip!

--- NATIONAL LEAGUE ---
• The Pirates had a seven-run lead going into the Bottom of the 3rd. The NEW YORK METS, however, shattered Pittsburgh's hearts with a 9-8 win.
• San Francisco put down the Cardinals of ST. LOUIS with a 12-7 beating. Ouch.
• The Nationals didn't get burned in the desert as the Nationals tamed ARIZONA 6-1.

That is all. Enjoy the weekend series!

The Friday night game ended 3-1... as all good things must come to an end. This was a tough one rather than a game we could have won. Four-game winning streak snapped.

HOU: 1 run, 6 hits, 1 error
SD: 3 runs, 7 hits, 0 errors

Astros are now 23-35 as we failed tonight. We're now 4-1 on this road trip. Whether or not we go 5-1 or 4-2 depends on what happens Saturday night for the third game of this four-game series. Well... we're back to failing. :(

Great game by the pirates to beat Philly in extra innings last night. This may be the best Buccos team I've seen since the early 90s.

It was a good game to watch, more so if you're a Pirates fan; 2-1 in 12 innings. So the Phils' problems winning in Pittsburgh continue. Here's hoping they can take the next two.

Out of 57 games played, the Phils have scored 3 runs or less in 31 of them.

The Pirates have historically been a pretty good team. It's almost painful to see their record for the last decade or two, especially after having seen the likes of Willie Stargell, Bill Mazeroski, Vern Law, Roberto Clemente, and of course Dock Ellis.

I'm 25, so I barely remember them being good, but can still recall the days of Barry Bonds, Andy Van Slyke, Doug Drebek etc...but it's been pretty rough lately.

Either way, they've looked really promising this year...and the pitching has been a very pleasant surprise.

I'm not usually much of a baseball guy, but I've taken a renewed interest this year with the NFL lockout looming, I need some sport to watch on tv. Plus it's pretty hard not to cheer for a team like the Pirates, I'm always a fan of the underdog.

We never led, but tied at one point. What was a four-game winning streak has now become a two-game losing streak. Astros f:censored:ed up again and conceded defeat, a 6-3 defeat. The 8th inning was when the close margin was blown open for the Padres. We're now playing for a series split Sunday afternoon on a non-televised game after failing for two straight games. Good news is that if we fail Sunday, I won't have to see the Astros flounder. Best to listen to AM 740 here in Houston to follow the game (if here in Houston, of course).

Both teams got an error each. The Astros managed 8 hits and 3 runs while San Diego got 7 hits and 6 runs.

Congratulations to other winners and tough luck to any losers from today's/tonight's games.

The Phillies extended their losing streak to four games after dropping another one to the Pirates last night. Yet another game in which the Phils scored three runs or less. I'm hoping they can break this 0-for-June streak soon.

Another one bites the dust... Belt to 15 day DL with broken wrist after being hit by pitch in St. Louis. Connor Gillespie called up, we now have two players that don't use batting gloves on the team.

Colorado won there first game in SF this year after starting out 0-4 there.

I don't have time for a Dodgers' status update, but the team is looking to get a few back from the DL and the offense has been heating up in a big way. My only wish is that it wouldn't be limited to the likes of Kemp, Ethier, and Carroll. With Uribe coming back soon we should get more production out of the middel of the infield (Aaron Miles is awful) and Marcus Thames is a fearsome bat off the bench.

Exciting news is that Rubby De La Rosa will make his first MLB start on Tuesday against Roy Halladay. I've been eager to see that guy pitch in the bigs, hopefully he'll do well enough to stay on the big league roster. It's a long season and nothing is out of reach. The Dodgers looks to be on the verge of a tear. We'll see what happens.

Correction: It's Roy Oswalt on Tuesday. We don't get the Doc on this trip.

Astros need this upcoming day off to slap themselves in the faces and get their heads on straight. We gloriously failed 7-2. Only positive is that we finish either a road or home tour with a winning record. So we sweep the Cubs, but lose three straight times at the Padres stemming from our loss Friday night. Jordan Lyles had a No Decision in the Cubs series, but takes his first loss. Latos won for San Diego. No errors for either team.

HOU: 2 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors
SD: 7 runs, 10 hits, 0 errors

Again, we get a day off. Hopefully the Astros can figure out what they need to do to stop failing so much. Elsewhere...

• Tough luck to Cleveland losing 2-0 to Texas in Cleveland. Wilson won with the Feliz save for TEX, and Talbot lost for CLE.

• Florida loses in a battle against Milwaukee. 6-5 win for the Brew Crew. Dillard wins while Axford gets the save. Dunn, however, took the loss for FLA.

• Philadelphia finally figured out the 2011 Pirates as they won 7-3, banging out 14 hits (PIT had 10). Halladay improves to 8-3 for PHI while McDonald loses for PIT (3-4).

• The Washington Nationals ain't afraid of no snakes- a 9-4 beat down in Phoenix. Burnett wins for WAS while Paterson loses for ARI.

• The Giants loomed over the Mile High boys 2-1 in beautiful San Francisco at my favorite MLB ballpark (AT&T Park). Vogelsong wins for SF as Wilson got the save. Lindstrom lost for Colorado.

• Minnesota blanks Kansas City at KC's dull ballpark 6-0. Duensing wins for MIN while Francis lost for KC. MIN had 6 runs and 9 hits, and KC had no runs and 7 hits. Both recorded errors.

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday's games.

Vogelsong is a freakin' beast. Japan sure did him good... comeback player of the year IMO.

Right now all 5 of the Giants starters are homegrown. (We Drafted Vogelsong in the 5th round in 1998) With Pablo coming back soon the Giants should have less issues with scoring runs and Huff will finally have some protection in the lineup.

Fun fact... Giants stud SS prospect Brandon Crawfords sisters boyfriend is Gerrit Cole the likely candidate for 1st pick in the draft.

The Dodgers have won 2 out of the 3 in the last three series they've played (Reds, Rockies, and Marlins). That's a realistic trend to try to continue with. Here's hoping!

This week: Three games in Philly and four games in Colorado. Then it's back to LA for more six more split between Cincy and Houston. Hopefully the Dodgers will return to LA back at .500. 👍

I may or may not watch the action this week, but we are going to enjoy home for ten games. It begins with three games vs. the NL Central rival Cardinals. Next up is a four-game set against the Braves. And to end the home stand, three against the Pirates.

Good luck to all of your teams! That even includes another installment of Red Sox at Yankees.

Giants keep on winning... Pablo should be back with the team by next week at the latest. Hopefully that means seeing Tejada at third for the last time.

Anyone watch the draft or pay any close attention to it?
Giants did an incredible job this year IMO. They went and got Joe Panik (SS) likely going to be moved to second base. Some pop, but he hit is project as a good high average hitter, takes lots of walks and doesn't strike out a lot. Along with great base running instincts him and Brown at the top of our future lineup is going to be a devastating 1-2. We also drafted Catcher Andrew Susac #86 over all who was a top 30 player before breaking his hamate bone. Hey! Pablo did that too! Anyways, that's not something that should be worried about down the road.

It makes me sick to my stomach seeing Lance Berkman doing well for a team other than the Astros. His two-run bomb in the first basically set the tone as the Astros would tie with their own two-run jack thanks to Carlos Lee. Astros have now lost four straight after winning four straight. Yep, we fail again on this stretch of sixteen straight games before our next day off.

The Astros drafted about 12+ pitchers in the recent MLB draft. We need bullpen help and great pitching as it is. We also need some consistent hitters and sluggers so that it doesn't always have to be Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence supplementing the offense.

Ten game home stand for the Astros begins with a loss. Not good for an already not good season...

So the Phillies seem to have returned to their inability to hit and inability to score runs. Six baserunners in the first two innings and we score one lousy run?!?

It's been something over 180 official at bats (ie, not counting walks etc) since our last home run.

Rubby De La Rosa didn't impress me, to be honest; he should have got burned on his wildness except for the Phils' inability to produce.

The player who did impress me, though, was rookie Dee Gordon in his first major league start, going 3 for 5 with a stolen base. Good grief, that kid is quick on the basepaths.

So the Phils have now scored a total of ten runs in Roy Oswalt's last six starts, one of which was an RBI by Oswalt himself.

Dodgers won Rookie Day yesterday! Three rookies in the starting line-up and two were making their first MLB starts. All-around good stuff.

Dee Gordon - best-case-scenario day for him: no errors (they haunt him) and he scrapped three singles, including one of the infield variety. He was also a terror on the basepaths with a stolen base and scoring on an error. That kid has a motor!

Rubby De La Rosa - poor guy couldn't find the strikezone (especially against lefties) but his stuff got him out of a lot of trouble. He lit up the gun at 98mph and managed to throw 5 innings with only one run given up (96 pitches).

Jerry Sands - he really can't catch a break. He's got a great approach at the plate (sees about 7.7 pitches per at-bat) and seems to make strong contact. For some reason the ball just finds gloves or grass. Maybe he just needs a swing-tweak, because he's got the potential to produce in a big way.

It's good to have players back from the DL, but it's been a revolving door - Uribe, Thames, and Blake came back just in time for Furcal and Garland to go back down. :banghead: If the ownership situation works itself out by the end of June or early July, the Dodgers could be expected to make a move for a power bat (of the LF/1B variety - most likely a lefty... I haven't looked up the options yet) if the team is still in contention. James Loney is pretty much a lock to be non-tendered this winter so there will be a hole to fill. Sands can play first or LF so we could pick up a player from either position and just slot Sands into the other one.

The Dodgers look to take 2 out of 3 in their fourth consecutive series tonight - Kuroda versus Hamels. Rubber match for sure. I hope Kuroda throws at Victorino's head again because that was amazing last time. I've grown to like having the Dodgers face lefties now because it usually means no Loney in the lineup - hopefully Mattingly will have an aggressive team on the field today.

UPDATE: I just did some web perusing and found that my instincts were correct - Loney and Sands will both be benched. I love this lineup: Gordon (SS), Blake (1B instead of 3B), Ethier, Kemp, Uribe (3B instead of 2B), Thames (LF), Barajas (C), Carroll (2B instead of SS), Pitcher.

If I had it my way it'd be slightly different: Gordon, Carroll, Ethier, Kemp, Uribe, Thames, Blake, Barajas, Pitcher. I can't get over it that I simply do not see Blake as a number 2 hitter, and Carroll's OBP is far too outstanding to leave at the bottom of the order. Either way, I still like it because Sands is getting deserved rest in a game against a tough Lefty and Loney is right where he oughta be (on the bench). Ideally, if Sands weren't struggling, I'd like him at first with Casey Blake coming in as a pinch hitter.

If any doubts my prediction of a rubber match, I give you this nugget of information:

Hiroki Kuroda has made four starts against the Phillies, and is 2-0. He has allowed two runs total in those four starts, and hasn't allowed more than two hits in any game. His ERA is 0.68, with seven walks and 24 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings.

Cole Hamels has made four regular season starts against the Dodgers, and is also 2-0. His ERA is 1.50, with three walks and 26 strikeouts in 30 innings.

*Those are regular season statistics.

The Astros had a no-hitter going, then a one-hitter, and the Cards end up with two hits. We ended up winning tonight 4-1 on a combined two-hitter effort. The only run was a Lance Berkman home run.

HOU: 4 runs, 11 hits, 0 errors
STL: 1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors

The winning pitcher is Bud Norris (4-4) with Melancon getting the save (his 6th). Garcia is the losing pitcher for St. Louis. We got a Rubber Game for tomorrow night to close this series.

A few other Final games (congratulations to all winners; Home team in CAPITAL letters):
• SAN FRANCISCO wins 3-1 over Washington. 8 hits with one error for SF and 5 for WAS. Cain wins for SF; Burnett loses for WAS.

• Chicago Cubs win 4-1 at CINCINNATI. CHC gets 9 hits, and CIN had 4 hits with one error. Dempster (who I respect) won for CHC as Marmol got the save. Arroyo lost for CIN.

• PHILADELPHIA blanks the L.A. Dodgers 2-0. Five hits and one error for PHI. LAD picked up 7 hits. Hamels won for PHI with a save by Madison. Kuroda lost for the Dodgers.

• In 10 innings, Atlanta takes down FLORIDA 3-2. ATL got 10 hits, but committed two errors. FLA only managed five hits in their extra-inning loss. Kimbrel won for ATL as Linebrink picked up his first Save. Dunn was the losing pitcher for FLA.

• It took ten innings for Minnesota to down CLEVELAND 3-2. It was an 11-hit effort for MIN as Cleveland managed 10 hits and one error. Capps won for MIN as Dumatrait picked up the Save. Perez took the loss for CLE.

• Boston hammers the NEW YORK YANKEES 11-6. Wakefield won for BOS, and Aceves got the save for the Red Sox. Burnett lost for NYY.

• It was a 3-2 win for BALTIMORE as the Oakland Athletics lost their 9th straight game. It's the longest active losing streak. Britton won for BAL along with a save by Gregg. Outman lost for OAK.

What's up with your team(s)?

Frustrating loss for the Dodgers. Out hit the Phils but one of their 5 was a Home Run by Ryan Howard. More proof that the W/L stat for pitchers is worthless - Kuroda was fantastic. :ouch:

Sandoval back next Tuesday =DDD Hopefully at least...

Matt Cain is a beast 11ks 1bb in a CG against the Nats...

Also want to say I ****ing love Crawford. He was the game today with some great defensive plays and a big RBI triple. This kid does everything and has been able to hit everything... Inside breaking pitches outside breaking pitches... Catches up to the high fastball and lays off stuff in the dirt.

Another ass-o-licious effort by the Astros as we failed 9-2 tonight. Seven hits and an error for HOU wasn't enough to top St. Louis' nine runs and 11 hits. It still makes me sick seeing Lance Berkman bang out hits and runs for the Cardinals even coming back to Houston. Just pisses me the f:censored: off. I don't hate him; I just hate he couldn't remain in Astros colors. But... the Cards win the series. Cardinals lead the NL Central for a reason. And at our expense, they shown why. St. Louis has a BIG series this weekend taking on Milwaukee. Not sure if it's in St. Louis or at Milwaukee.

God (or some other higher power) must hate Houston sports so much that we just remain bottom of the barrel material. Astros now 24-39 on the season. A four-game series against the Braves is coming up. We'll likely f:censored: up in that series too. I'll be watching (or will try to) Le Mans on Saturday, so I hope the Astros got to give me something to cheer about at night's end. My Astros now have the same number of wins as the Twins and the Cubs- 24. This is just sad. But you know what? They're still my team. The fair weather fans would be about the Rangers or somebody. Tough as it is, you still love your team even if they don't lead the division or have the league's best record. If this failing continues, Astros may well start their vacation at the start of September rather than wait until the season's over. Just bring up all the minor league players to fill in for the Astros until they can finally stop f:censored:ing around getting their asses handed to by every other G**damned team.

I'm not the only team paddling up S:censored: Creek- Oakland lost again, and so has Florida. Both have long losing streaks right now. Oakland lost 9-4 at the White Sox, and Florida lost 3-2 hosting Atlanta.

I admire you John for taking this long before you snapped and went on a rant about how the Astro's are playing. Respect to you for sticking with them though.

As usual, the Blue Jays are hovering at .500 +/- a couple of games. They will probably do that for the rest of the season, slowly drifting back from the playoff race. Another close loss today.

..... and the Tribe is starting to faulter,The Motor City Kitties are climbing up our ass now, only up by 1 game in the AL Central. :nervous:

Seen this one coming,as did a lot of other N.E. Ohioans

Hooray for the Red Sox!!! Up 2 games on the Yankees and winning 4-1 against the blue jays. Is anyone else here a Sox fan or am I the only one?

This one was ugly. We got our doors blown off by Atlanta and got beat down bad. Astros fantastically fail 11-4. ATL bangs out 14 hits but commits one error. Four Braves went deep. Astros get a few meaningless runs in the Bottom of the 9th. Our sad selves only managed 10 hits and one error.

Game two of four is tomorrow night, but of course, I'll be busy following Le Mans so PLEASE WIN, ASTROS!!!

Best of luck to all teams this weekend! Just hope your favorite(s) don't get taken to the woodshed like my Astros did...

Our sad selves only managed 10 hits

Heh, I would be ecstatic to see the Phils get ten hits in a game nowadays.

The Phils recently ended a home run drought that saw them go over 220 at-bats without a homer. To put that in a bit of perspective, if a team hit one homer every 220 at-bats, they'd end the season with 28 home runs for the entire team for the season.

Yesterday they hit two homers in one game for the first time since like forever. The bullpen however (which has been quite good this year actually) managed to turn a 7-0 laugher into a 7-5 nail biter. Oh well, it's a win; I'll take it.
