Ogawd Omnis. In the past there was just one Wild Card team. If anything it improved everyone's chances at the world series.

Because it's like a game seven, much more exciting.

lol Omnis, lol.

Atlanta won 6 more games than the Cards. So they won more than their share of a 7 game series. This format is so stupid and anti-climactic.

A 3-game series would be perfect.

Damn... San Francisco got stomped on- a 9-0 beating courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds. Here's a tweet I picked up:

"Comforting the masses. Never worse than this! RT @PGutierrezCSN #Reds 9-0 victory is #SFGiants worst postseason shutout loss in history"

- Andrew Baggarly (@CSNBaggs)

Ouch. Sorry, Prosthetic...

Jim Tracy resigned. :(

Yeah, it's hard to blame him. They barely even let him make any decisions on how to manage the team. That 75-pitch limit on all the starters was really weird and I know he didn't like it.

=======

Homer Bailey will start Tuesdays' game in Cincy and try for the sweep. That would be huge (if they got it) considering the unknown status of Johnny Cueto's back. I am loving this smackdown the Giants are getting.

The Houston Astros will unveil their new logo and uniforms on November 2nd at a ceremony. Apparently, someone kind of leaked some images of what the new-look Astros will be like. Part of what seem leaked is the Astros returning to the Navy Blue and Orange colors. Seems like old school cool for today's Astros. Nothing official named or announced as of yet. Still a full month until the Astros will announce their new looks moving forward.

Old school would be the way to go; the Blue Jays new retro logo and uniforms are way better than their old set.

The Giants took quite a beating from the Reds. The Reds were in an offensive slump at the end of the season, so it's nice to see them getting hot again. I just hope they can keep it up. Homer's got the start tomorrow (and thankfully Cueto may be good to go if they need him later) and looking for the sweep at home. Quite a difference from 2 years ago after being swept by the Phillies.

The inspiration for the new look Astros uniforms seems to be old school-based. The leaked picture suggested navy blue with some orange accents. It also had something like the '60s Astros' logo. Maybe there are hints that my team may be inspired by the 1960s or 1980s Astros' logos. Maybe the shooting star logo could return. But when I saw the leaked image of what could be the new logo, the orange star with a white "H" was included. Maybe the Astros are doing like the Orioles (and other teams) in coming up with a logo and a style that culminates past seasons to make up a new outfit.

If you ask me, old school cool is the way to go. Not related to baseball, I like in the NBA what Golden State and Philadelphia did with their logos and uniforms. So... we'll see what the Astros come up with. I just hope they don't come up with something dreadful-looking.

Good luck to all the playoff teams. Make/Continue that push to the World Series.

Wow Ichiro! What a slide! Err... Or whatever you want to call that.

Edit: This game is looking eerily like last nights...

FUN FACT: That 9-0 shutout by the Reds was the widest shutout margin of victory in MLB Playoff history.

Would anyone bet money that Prosthetic won't post today unless the Giants win?

Also, what's the over-under on how many days until he returns to talk MLB on GTP if the Giants are swept today?

I doubt it'll happen tonight, was just curious. Thanks.

Edit: Damn, 6 strikeouts in a row.

Edit 2: SF got their first hit in the 6th.

I can't stand the Giants but you have to be insane to not think Posey is the MVP. But then, it's you.

What the hell are you talking about?? I posted that Posey will win it.

Here you go, being wrong again. You are comparing situations from teams in different divisions.

For £%#?'s sake. They are playing each other NOW. In the same league. In the playoffs. You don't understand that using the NEW Wildcard team as compared to the team they face after winning the new Wildcard game is a legit example? Wow .

You are ridiculous. I am over it. How many times do I have to tell you that I like the wildcard system?

Uh, three more times please? Is that the right answer? :) Ilike the Wildcard as well. The Cards win it, and win World Series' as well, and I am fortunate enough to get to go to the games.

The wildcard system awards you for winning your division, not for having a better season.

Great, glad you like it

If they wanted to award teams for a better season then it would be seeded like the NBA where all that matters is your win/loss record. They'd have the top 5 go no matter what.

Let's hope not. The NBA playoff system is pretty poor in my opinion

I'm bold. Like a fastball up and in.

Isn't it wonderful how the division winners were rewarded for their excellent seasons? Reds lost tonight, but in control of the Series and at home. Nats spilt on the road and now need two of three at home to advance. Tall order for the Cards...

Yes, while teams like Atlanta (with a better season than St. Louis and the exact same record as San Francisco) are home to watch after a pathetic 94-win season.

:dunce:

When baseball introduced divisions more than 30 years ago, the thought tha only the team with the best record should play for the World Series went out the window. The Wildcard era is the exact same situation, merely expanded.

Sucks for Braves fans, but they don't keep time with sundials anymore. A team with more wins losing in the playoffs to a team with fewere wins is so common now that complaining about it is quite odd. It's been happening for THIRTY + YEARS. It's quite like wanting gas to return to 1980's prices but refusing to understand the word inflation.

As for dunce emoticons...

Interesting choice of adjective. Most people think they are a pretty good team. Yippee. Crappy sarcasm double play... :)
