The Nats decision to use Strasbourg's innings up before the postseason boggles the mind. Cancel some starts early in the season, maybe his first start is in game 20ish, skip another here and there, do something so he's available at least in part in the fall.
If you don't make the playoffs, but scatter his starts a bit, at the end of the season he has pitched the same number of innings he did under the current system. I'd you do qualify for postseason play, he can pitch one game per series. Since he was pitching some in Sept, he's ready to go.
Surely the above is doable? Do the Nats want to win now and 2015 or 2015 only? if they make it...
The Giants eliminate the Reds. Too bad. Should the Cards make it, a series vs the Reds would have been fun. Playoff baseball is beyond intense (I've attended nearly 10 World Series games - you can feel the difference) and some bad blood only intensifies it.
The Giants are a good club though. Besides, we get to see Hunter Pence running around like one of the Three Stooges getting chased. Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!!
