If they had Carpenter all year, they probably would've won their division. The Cardinals are a dangerous team, even without Furcal hitting leadoff.

Carpenter is 5-0 with an era of 2.09 in his last 6 Postseason starts. Pretty solid. If the Cards can eliminate the Nats... I have NLCS tickets!

Should Lohse get the win tomorrow, Wainright gets the ball in game 1 of the next series... Perfect.

This offense can erupt on you. In all of baseball, only the Rangers (with the DH) scored 10 runs more often, and only once more than the Cards.

The Reds got trounced. The Matt Cain vs. Mat Latos game should be a good one tomorrow, though. Just wish San Fran hadn't forced a game 5. :grumpy:

Drew you fool. Why make the first out of an inning at 3rd?

Also, have they not opened the upper deck in Oakland?

They leave that closed to limit seating capacity.

I know that is the reason for regular season games, but I was under the impression that it opened up for playoffs when the supporters come out of the woodwork.

A's win!

Edit: No error on the play? Wow, he would have been gunned at the plate had it been fielded cleanly.

I gave up top 9, ate something, took a shower, got out and checked my phone to see one on with two out. Almost quit the app, then I saw the score.

Hell of a game going on in Cincinnati right now.

Edit: Unless the Reds can kick themselves into gear, I think SF is going to take this one...

Edit 2: Yup, pretty much over now after that Grand Slam. 👎

The Nats decision to use Strasbourg's innings up before the postseason boggles the mind. Cancel some starts early in the season, maybe his first start is in game 20ish, skip another here and there, do something so he's available at least in part in the fall.

If you don't make the playoffs, but scatter his starts a bit, at the end of the season he has pitched the same number of innings he did under the current system. I'd you do qualify for postseason play, he can pitch one game per series. Since he was pitching some in Sept, he's ready to go.

Surely the above is doable? Do the Nats want to win now and 2015 or 2015 only? if they make it...

The Giants eliminate the Reds. Too bad. Should the Cards make it, a series vs the Reds would have been fun. Playoff baseball is beyond intense (I've attended nearly 10 World Series games - you can feel the difference) and some bad blood only intensifies it.

The Giants are a good club though. Besides, we get to see Hunter Pence running around like one of the Three Stooges getting chased. Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!!
