The first one I don't believe was intentional at all. Dodgers thought it was and plunked one of our guys. Second one was intentional but I don't believe Kennedy meant to throw it near his head. He wouldn't do that, no pitcher would.

Yes, back and forth hitting of batters like that would certainly initiate the brawl, but frustration from losing to a single team 16 out of the previous 20 games leading up to that I'm sure didn't help either.

I'll believe what I want, you don't have any right to tell me I'm wrong. If you disagree, just say so and move on. I'm not debating this with you.

This is my last post on the subject.

I agree that Puig wasn't intentional - at least not hitting him. I think he was trying to dust off the rookie and be a tough guy, but it got away and hit him. Puig got up and walked to first and it was fine.

Greinke plunked Montero on the leg in retaliation. I didn't agree with that, but I can see why he did it. I don't like the "old school unwritten rules" of baseball, but Greinke was standing up for his rookie teammate and he harmlessly hit Montero on the leg. Benches cleared, guys got to holler, and then everyone got back to baseball and moved on. That should've been the end of it.

For Kennedy to come back and throw at Greinke's head is nearly inexcusable. It wasn't necessary and he deserves a lengthy suspension for it. For you to blame that on the Dodgers having a tough time against the Dbacks is evidence that you are a blind homer.

Follow that logic - for a team to want to brawl another team due to a bad stretch, the Pirates and Royals would be in fights constantly. The Pirates and Nationals haven't won series' in Dodger stadium for like 5 years, they're not headhunting and bringing in their bullpen to tackle coaches. It's absolutely stupid to think that was the cause of the fighting. Seriously. Stupid.

Three Dodgers players got plunked in that game. That's right, Mark Ellis got hit with a pitch after the brawl in the 8th inning. If you're a pitcher and you can't throw inside without hitting a guy in the face, then you should never be throwing inside.

Let's also act like it's all a coincidence that Ian Kennedy is the MLB leader in throwing beanballs (I bet none of your homer D-Backs announcers or blogs thought to bring up that stat).

I have every right to tell you this: you're wrong.

This is my last post on the subject.

Good idea, because you're revealing that your thoughts on the subject are incredibly biased and laughably ridiculous. You might want to re-evaluate your objectivity before spouting off on the conflicts your team gets into.

So we're resorting to calling me names now?

I said THE LOST GAMES ARE NOT THE SOLE REASON, BUT IT DIDN'T HELP THE SITUATION. How 🤬 hard is it to get that through your head.

Welcome to my ignore list. :yuck:

I didn't directly call you a blind homer, but I wouldn't disagree with the label.

Yes you did, and that is ludicrous speculation that is based on a precedent that has never been witnessed in baseball. Why can't you get that into your head?

Welcome to my ignore list. :yuck:

If you can't debate rationally and objectively, I'll take my place with pride. I know you're bothering to read this, too. :sly:

Jose like forget this.

The suspensions are out:

Arizona:
-10 games for Kennedy
-5 games for Hinske
-1 game for Kirk Gibson
*Fines issued to Montero and Parra

YOYERS:
-2 games for Howell
-2 games for Skip
-1 game for Belisario
-2 games for Big Mac
-1 game for Mattingly
*Fines issued to Puig and Greinke. The club also recieves a fine for the players on the DL (namely, Josh Beckett and Chris Capuano) coming out of the dugout. DL players will not be permitted to be in the dugout for the Pittsburgh series.

All in all, seems fair.

EDIT: I did the math, that 10-game suspension will cost Ian Kennedy almost $300,000. Ouch!

I figure the penalties were just right with the ARI at LAD brawl this past Tuesday night. The Diamondbacks and Dodgers will meet many more times the rest of this season along with the Opening Series next season in Sydney, Australia.

Besides the notes regarding penalties being doled out (here is an article I found online: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/pitche...t-suspended-for-roles-in-brawl-174553207.html ), here is a look at some of the weekend series:

* Chicago White Sox at Houston (2005 World Series rematch)
* Washington at Cleveland
* Boston at Baltimore
* Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh
* Arizona at San Diego
* Chicago Cubs at New York Mets
* New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
* Seattle at Oakland
* ...and other series I haven't mentioned

Enjoy the weekend series this Father's Day weekend!

Dodgers have Hanley Ramirez and AJ Ellis returning to the lineup for this weekend's series in Pittsburgh.

The Dodgers have beaten the Pirates in 12 of their last 13 meetings, 15 of their last 17 and 18 of their last 21 contests. The Dodgers have won every season series against Pittsburgh dating back to 2001, and lead this year's six-game tilt 3-0, with only this weekend series remaining.

We should probably expect all this pent up frustration from the Pirates to boil over into a brawl. /R1600Turbo

Jesus, guys. It's just sports. I could understand if it's something more important, like politics, console wars, Atlanta Braves, but come on..... nobody watches the D-Backs & Dodgers plain sucks.

:P j/k

We beat the White Sox 2-1 tonight! Five hits for the Astros and six for the White Sox. Two errors by CHW while the Astros were clean- no errors. It is our 24th win of the season. The winner for Houston was Bedard along with a Veras Save. The talented Chris Sale was the loser for CHW.

Elsewhere...

* MLB Network shown the San Francisco Giants at the Atlanta Braves. And unfortunately, the Braves failed to score (don't worry- I know the feeling). Giants slapped around the Braves 6-0.

* Miami fans may be cheering on the Heat, but their Marlins picked up a win. The fish won 5-4 hosting them danged redbirds from St. Louis. Fernandez won for MIA with a Cishek Save, and Westbook took the loss for St. Louis.

* The Los Angeles Dodgers didn't have such a happy welcome to Pittsburgh. 3-0 was how much the Pirates took down the Dodgers. Locke won for PIT along with a Grilli Save. Fife lost for LAD.

* The Orioles of Baltimore defended home nicely against Boston in a 2-0 win. Tillman was the winner for BAL with a J. Johnson Save. Ryan Dempster (whom I respect) lost for the Boston Red Sox.

* Miami won, but how did the other Florida team do? Bad- like 7-2 bad. Kansas City put the hurtin' on Tampa Bay as Mendoza picked up the win for KC. Moore was the loser for the Tampa Bay Rays.

* It was 6-3 at Citi Field as the Mets failed to defend home from the Chicago Cubs. E. Jackson won for the Cubbies along with a Save from Gregg. Marcum was the loser for the New York Mets.

* Texas hosted the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Blue Jays pimpslapped the Rangers. Buehrle was the winner for Toronto while Grimm lost for Texas. The score was 8-0.

* The Interleague series this weekend is at Progressive Field in Cleveland. And in Cleveland, the Indians won 2-1 over Washington. The Tribe saw Smith win the game while former Abad lost for the Washington Nationals.

Congratulations to all other winners beyond the time of this post.

Figures, one of our pitchers is lights out but we fail to get him run support. Now he makes a couple mistakes and will lose or get no decision on the game. :rolleyes:

My teams went scoreless(Braves, Red Sox, Rangers), with the exception of four runs by the Cardinals, who also lost. :ouch:

So Grienke doesn't lose any games? Funny. I don't know how they can justify not giving him games but giving Kontos games. Not that it effects us. Though the MLB is atrocious when it comes to controversial matters.

Bumgarner was balling last night.. Only gave up two hits, a duck snort and a bloop. Love the way the Giants hit as well, Medlen was hitting most of his spots but Giants offense has an awesome approach.

I agree. I wouldn't argue deserves a five-game suspenion (aka, long enough to miss a start), but a one or two gamer for his intentional beaning of Montero would be fair and hit him in his wallet.

Bumgarner has been balling all season. I just got off work and turned MLBN on in time to watch that Romo/Upton battle. I love it when two awesome players who have a bunch of experience with each other battle it out. Of course the YOYER fan in me is extra happy that Upton won, although Romo is one of my favorite non-Dodger players to watch.

The Astros won 4-3 tonight against the Chicago White Sox. Our silver (25th) win of the season came on J Veras (HOU closer) picking off a runner at 2nd Base to end the game! Veras was crap pitching early in the 9th; but once he got going, he was beast. Astros put up eight hits, including back-to-back jacks. The White Sox put up six hits. Lucas Harrell was the winner along with a Save from José Veras. John Danks was the losing pitcher for CHW.

This four-game series continues tomorrow afternoon with Game 3.

Congratulations to all other winners from today's games and tonight's games.

[UPDATE] Spare a thought for Alex Cobb of the Tampa Bay Rays as he took a brutal line drive to the head hosting Kansas City. He had a mild concussion. This was about as ugly as the line drive J.A. Happ took. Sadly, both Cobb's line drive scare and Happ's line drive scare both happened in Tampa Bay.

It was probably discussed last year, but I will say it again - All-star voting is broken. Despite playing just 5 games all year, Derek Jeter is 5th in AL SS voting, with something like 670,000 votes.

He is over 1,000,000 behind first though, there is also only one person with fewer votes in a top 5 sport in any AL position. I think it says more about the strength of the SS spot in the AL more than fan voting.

I think it says everything about fan voting. if the ballot was based on performance, he should be on zero. He has eleven ABs this year. Is that seriously more all-star worthy than the shortstops in the ten teams he is in front of?

While I think it's ridiculous to get worked up over the All-Star game (seriously, it's just an exhibition game), the AL All-Star is less broken than the NL. Take a gander at the NL leaders and see if there's a common thread.

I would assume MLB All-Star game is a popularity contest(w/hint of politics thrown in), just like with the NBA? I guess the difference is that, MLB games still decide the home field for the World Series, right? NBA fans can get away with their ignorant All-Star voting, but isn't accountability suggested with the baseball voting?

Astros survived 5-4 today. We won 5-4 when we could have won 5-2. De Aza hit an opposite field two-run jack to give the White Sox two runs late in the 9th. José Veras saved the day again along with the solid work from Dallas Keuchel for the Astros to get their win streak up to 4. The Astros were out-hit 8-7 in this game. We're going to win this series... whether or not in a sweep depends on what happens tomorrow as this CHW at HOU series concludes. I was proud the Astros wore some Navy Blue jerseys with the orange and white accents. Great looking colors for the Astros. Of course, I've loved the new Astros duds ever since they unveiled the new uniforms. I think they should wear those more often and ditch those orange uniforms.

Here's a note I forgot to mention from last night's game- congratulations to Adam Dunn (CHW) on hitting his 424th Home Run last night.

* Miami beat St. Louis 7-2 in Miami. The winner for the Miami Marlins was Nolasco along with a Save from Cishek, and the losing pitcher for St. Louis was Lyons.

* 4-3 was the score in Flushing, New York as the Mets tamed the Chicago Cubs. Bobby Parnell was the winning NYM pitcher while Marmol took the loss for CHC. By the way, Nieuwenhuis hit a three-run walk-off jack to give the Mets the win. He was quite the hero to give NYM the win.

* The Reds won 5-1 hosting the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brew Crew didn't brew enough offense to take on the Reds at Great American Ballpark. Cueto was the winning pitcher for CIN and a Simon Save. Losing for Milwaukee was Peralta. I think I read Choo (and someone else whose name fails me) didn't play in this game.

* In the American League, Baltimore doubled up the Boston Red Sox at home with a 6-3 win at Camden Yards. Winning for the O's was M. Gonzalez along with a J. Johnson Save. Jon Lester lost for the Boston Red Sox.

* Detroit went to Minneapolis to take on the Twins, and the Tigers won 5-2. Fister won for DET along with a J. Benoit Save. P.J. Walters was the loser for the Minnesota Twins.

* Kansas City wasn't afraid of Tampa Bay. At Tampa Bay's incredibly boring ballpark, the Royals picked up a 5-3 win. W. Davis won for Kansas City and a G. Holland Save. R. Hernandez was the Rays' losing pitcher.

* The Interleague series this weekend is the Washington Nationals at the Cleveland Indians. It was a 2-0 shutout as the Indians beat the Nationals. Kluber won for the Tribe along with a Save from Pestano. Stephen Strasburg picked up the loss for WAS.

Congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post. That even includes the Sunday Night Baseball match between San Francisco at Atlanta. SF will send Tim Lincecum to the mound (4-6 with a 4.70 ERA), and Atlanta will counter with Julio Teheran (4-3 with a 3.62 ERA).

Max Scherzer has now gone 10-0 on the season, first Tiger to do so since 1909 I believe.

4-2 was what the Houston Astros lost by hosting the Chicago White Sox tonight. So four straight wins... and no further. We don't get the series sweep, but every win helps to build confidence for a team that has badly needed confidence all season long. Stuck on 26 wins after tonight's loss. At least this 2013 Astros squad did what the 2005 Houston Astros couldn't do in the World Series- beat the White Sox in a game.

We failed. Astros will be hosting the Milwaukee Brewers starting tomorrow night in Interleague action in our next series. Three-game set.
