* Miami lost by a football score of 7-3 at Philadelphia. If this was football, this would be the Eagles beating the Dolphins in a very-low scoring game. Winning for PHI was Stutes. Losing for Miami was Olmos. MIA outhit the Phillies 10 to 8 while both teams each accounted for two errors.

You forgot to mention the game ended with an 11th inning walk off grand slam by John Mayberry, who had also homered in the bottom of the 10th.

Which brings up an interesting question: how many times has a player homered in consecutive extra innings?

We won 11-7 vs. Baltimore as six Astros homered in this game! The jacks came from José Altuve, Jason Castro, J.D. Martinez, Carlos Peña, Matt Dominguez, and Marwin Gonzalez. Baltimore had only two guys go deep: J.J. Hardy and M. Wieters. Astros collected 14 hits while Baltimore managed 13. Dallas Keuchel picked up the win for the Houston Astros to go to 3-2 on the season. Freddy Garcia took the loss. The Rubber Game of this series is tomorrow.

Congratulations to all other winners including the New York Mets on the road at Washington and the Chicago White Sox at Seattle in 16 innings.

Just wrapped up... the Astros failed 3-1 today against Baltimore. The Astros managed 6 hits and made no errors. Baltimore got 11 hits but made one error. The firepower from last night didn't carry over to today's game as the Orioles took 2 out of 3 from the Astros in this series.

Tough break for the Astros. Congratulations to everyone else who won today and tonight.

I shut off the game at 5-2. I just peeked at the score, 10-2. :ouch:

Kennedy needs to straighten out his 🤬 or we need to move on from him.

P Mark Appel was drafted 1st overall by Astros

3B Kris Bryant 2nd by Cubs

P Johnathon Gray 3rd by Rockies

A little surprised Astros went with Appel. Most had Cubs taking Gray if Appel was off the board so they must've felt more comfortable taking the power bat that can hopefully stick at third.

Maybe the Astros feel they need better pitching rather than look for some sluggers. The Astros basically need as much help as they can get for the future. Got to draft for your needs. I'm not going to make the M. Appel draft more like a baseball version of when my Texans drafted Mario Williams when Vince Young and Reggie Bush were expected to be top pick in that season's NFL draft. It's more like "wait and see" for me in regards to Appel.

Drafting for need doesn't really work in baseball though. It takes the typical draft pick so long to reach the majors that the teams needs will have changed by the time the player is ready. Appel is a really good pick. Best player a the top of a draft with 3 players where anyone of them could've gone first. He will probably be up sometime next year. Hopefully for the Cubs Bryant ends up the masher everyone thinks he will be.

Flipping Dodgers. Braves swept them just few weeks ago, they might sweep us this time. :grumpy:

Kansas City is brutal at home. Not so Friday night, though. My Astros lost 4-2. The fail plague has followed the Astros to Kansas City, Missouri. The Saturday game is going to be nationally-televised. I just hope we don't do like we did in our last nationally-televised game, when the Oakland Athletics roughed us up backstreet style...

Angels at Boston on Fox Baseball today. Great start for the Red Sox. Bottom of 1st, no out, up 2-0 & Ortiz at the plate, runner on second! :embarrassed:

Another fall-on-your-face national TV performance. It is now four straight losses for the Astros as our latest fail was a 7-2 defeat at Kansas City. The team is moving (or should I say returning) in the wrong direction. The sad Astros (one Facebook person called them the "disastros") put up six hits and made three errors, and Kansas City put together ten hits and no errors. The final game of this series is tomorrow afternoon. Oh, and my Astros will be on national TV again next weekend when we host the Chicago White Sox. Yep- that will be another HOU loss.

Elsewhere... let me commend the Miami Marlins for winning at the New York Mets 2-1. Even though the game ended 2-1, it took 20 innings for there to be a winner. That HAD to be one long Saturday- especially if you're a Mets fan. Remember that the Mets got swept in Miami in the last series between the Marlins and the Mets.

Pat yourselves on the back if your team(s) won today/tonight. Good job.

November can't come soon enough for any Mets fan. Just want this season done with.

Sweet bonuses! I'm so glad I watched the whole Red Sox game today. I didn't know they had a Japanese kid closing for them. What a treat! 👍

Right now, I'm pretty sure R1600Turbo is either done breaking stuff around him or probably stopped watching the game so far. The Giants are just having target practice right now at the Diamondbacks. They're up 8-0 now in the Top of the 4th. Arizona has only one hit as of the time of this post. Ouch.

I was at the game, we left early. I am pretty sure there are two reasons why we are still in first place. And they are named Corbin & Goldschmidt. Rest of our pitching staff are a complete joke this year.

Astros swept in Kansas City. Worse than losing is losing in a shutout. 2-0 the Royals won today with. A. Crow won for KC along with a Save from G. Holland. Losing for the Astros was H. Ambriz.

Elsewhere (completed games up to this point)...

* It was 9-1 as the Brewers slapped around the Philadelphia Phillies in Milwaukee.

* They played 20 innings in Flushing, New York yesterday afternoon. Today, Miami and the New York Mets played ten innings- and the Miami Marlins won 8-4. Former Astro Chad Qualls picked up the win for Miami while Bobby Parnell lost for NYM.

* Texas and Toronto tangled in Toronto. The Texas Rangers won 6-4 today. Cotts was the winning pitcher while Nathan got a Save. Wagner lost for the Toronto Blue Jays.

* Detroit won at home 4-1 against the visiting Cleveland Indians. J. Alvarez won for DET along with a J. Benoit save. J. Masterson was the losing pitcher for Cleveland. Both teams accounted for six hits each, but Cleveland made the only error.

* At the extremely boring Tropicana Field, Baltimore and Tampa Bay put on an offensive frenzy. The Orioles won by a football-like score of 10-7. C. Tillman won for the O's and a J. Johnson Save. Losing for Tampa Bay was M. Moore.

* At U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, the Chicago White Sox took down the Oakland Athletics 4-2. The boys from the south side of Chicago defended home field as H. Santiago won for CHW along with a Save from A. Reed. A.J. Griffin was the loser for Oakland.

* The first game of a doubleheader in the weekend's only Interleague series features the Minnesota Twins at the Washington Nationals. Winning by a touchdown in Game 1 of the Doubleheader was the Washington Nationals- a 7-0 victory. J. Zimmermann was the winner for the Nationals, and S. Diamond was the loser for the Twins.

The Sunday Night match features the rivalry game between the Cincinnati Reds at the St. Louis Cardinals.

For being called up at the last minute Alvarez was an excellent starting pitcher for the Tigers. I was really impressed with what I saw and I expect him to be called back to pitch a few more games this year and could see him making the bullpen in the next year or two as well. It's good to know we have some insurance in case one of our pitchers gets hurt (knocks on wood).
