A high-five for the Mets. Gee sets career mark in strikeouts with 12 and leads the Mets to a 3-1 victory over the Yankees and effectively a four game sweep.

So the Reds and Tribe split the Ohio Cup Series. Both teams won their respective home games. I didn't get to watch much of any of the games. What in the world happened in the 4th inning where Homer allowed 7 runs today?

Happening all over the league isn't it..Blue Jays spend a ton and are gong nowhere as of now, the Angels add Hamilton to their lineup and are struggling, yet the Yankees for example have their 'worst' team in years and lead the division through the first two months. Go figure.

Angels are coming back. Especially with Weave returning.

Blah, blah, 🤬 the Mets, blah, blah

The Houston Astros won 7-5 at the Colorado Rockies, despite committing 4 errors! We hung six runs on the Rockies in the 6th Inning to vault us ahead. Before the six-spot we put up, Colorado was ahead 3-1. After the Top of the 6th, all Colorado could muster was two more runs. Chris Carter and Matt Dominguez put up some jacks in the sixth inning as part of the six-run 6th for the Astros. I wonder if my Astros miss National League play considering where they are right now after this series...

* R1600Turbo's Snakes had to accept a brutal 9-5 root canal at the Texas Rangers. Texas is tough to beat at home. Arizona found that out the hard way today.

* Windy City pride was on the line as the southsiders (White Sox) and northsiders (Cubs) battled at Wrigley Field. The boys in blue came through with a 8-3. The real story was the Grand Slam hit by the CHC pitcher to put the Cubbies ahead for good.

* The Mariners took down the San Diego Padres 7-1 in San Diego.

* Bay Area bragging rights were on the line today in San Francisco. On a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco (when is it NOT beautiful in San Francisco?), the Giants handled the Oakland Athletics 5-2.

* The Phillies hosted the Boston Red Sox, and the Red Sox hammered Philadelphia 9-2.

* You can't win if you don't score. Only one run was scored, and that was how Pittsburgh defended home turf against Joey D's Detroit Tigers in 11 innings.

* The Orioles needed only two runs to put away the Washington Nationals 2-0 at Camden Yards (BAL).

* New York Mets at New York Yankees. The Mets tamed the Yanks 3-1.

* Buckeye State pride was on the line at Progressive Field. This would be the the Dolph Drago (CIN) vs. Nicksflix (CLE) special. Winning this one was the Cleveland Indians 7-1.

* Toronto need to get it together if they expect to be any sort of contender. Their 11-3 thrashing in Atlanta by the Braves didn't do much to help TOR gain any sort of confidence moving forward.

* It was 5-2 in Tampa Bay as Sunshine State bragging rights were on the line between Florida's two Major League Baseball teams. The sun, unfortunately, wasn't shining on the Miami Marlins as they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays.

* Minneapolis was proud and happy as their Minnesota Twins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6.

* The Battle for Los Angeles was with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers, and it was the Angels who won 3-2. Dodgers' woes continue.

Congratulations to the eventual winner of KC at STL, as it is 4-2 in favor of Kansas City right now.

Fixed

I made those changes to my initial post. So thanks for setting me straight.

Maybe the most interesting series this weekend will be San Francisco at St. Louis. The pitching duel tonight involves Matt Cain (SF) vs. Shelby Miller (STL). Another good series this weekend is Detroit at Baltimore. In this pitching matchup, Detroit will send Max Scherzer to the mound, and Baltimore will counter with Miguel Gonzalez.

Miserable fail today from Miley. Not sure what his issue is. Maybe we can replace him with Skaggs for a while until he figures out what he needs to do to find last years form.

Soriano's HR was definitely wind aided. Hairston's Grand Slam was a bomb.

But don't feel too bad. Cubs are on a hot streak and have been playing good ball. And their record isn't indicative of what they are capable of.

They have a + run deferential (the only team with a losing record that does) and have been out slugging their opponents. Somehow they are 7 under when Baseball Prospectus says they should be around 5 or so above .500 based on their statistics. [/rant]

The Astros just won 6-3 at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. We're now in a direction we aren't used to- winning. Three wins in a row, and this is now the 18th win of the 2013 season for the Houston Astros Baseball Club. Now if only the Astros can beat the Athletics as far as AL West teams are concerned...

Astros at Angels do it again Saturday night.

Would love to see the Mets trade their entire team or at least demote half of them. To get swept by Miami is a pathetic excuse and it boils down to the fact that if Murphy or Wright fail to get one single hit, the team could be no-hit every single night.

Look at the bright side, they can probably pick up the Marlins after they release their team during the annual Miami Marlins Firesale.

Once we do that, they will STILL lose.

Corbin going for 9-0 record today. Currently winning 3-1, should be able to get it if we can hang on. He started rough though in the 1st by hitting two batters and walking two more to give the Cubs a run even though they didn't have any hits.

Cubs can go from good baseball to horrible baseball in a matter of seconds. Even when Hairston tied it you could tell they weren't going to win today the way they were pitching and fielding. And can Navarro stop a ball please.

Hey John, your Astros are on a 5 game winning streak! 👍 And if it were a normal 3 game series, they would have swept the Angels. Can they pull an improbable 4 game sweep?

Meanwhile, the Reds should have swept the Pirates, but Broxton had other plans. He just isn't what he was last year. To top things off, the Cards finally decided to lose a game, and we couldn't capitalize on the opportunity to gain some ground in the standings. :grumpy:

Twins killed Seattle 10-0, currently only Oakland has a better record over the last 10 games.

Of course now that hope has been instilled again they will rip it away and lose 4 in a row.:ouch:

Happy day for John, Astros have swept the Angels following a 2-1 victory.

The reason why I was away was because my Internet was down over the weekend. I am obviously proud of my Astros for pulling the improbable 4-game sweep (I thought it was just a 3-game series at first) at the Angels. I was sure Patrick was sick to his stomach at the sight of a $24M payroll team beating a very high payroll team. Coolest thing about last night for me was seeing that solo jack that broke up the potential LAA no-hitter.

I think the next series for my Astros is here in Houston against the Orioles for three followed by a weekend series at the Royals.

We failed last night, but I expected it with us being in St Louis. At least SF wasn't playing and Colorado failed too so we didn't lose much ground.

Also, just noticed last night that Boston is in 1st place in the AL East!?! What is the world coming to?

Astros with a six game winning streak... and go no further. We failed against Baltimore, losing 4-1 to them here in Houston. Tillman was the winning pitcher for Baltimore along with a Jim Johnson save. Lucas Harrell took the loss for Houston. We managed five hits and committed two errors, and Baltimore put up eight hits with no errors. All good things must come to an end. I just hope the Astros don't start consistently going in the losing direction again.

* While the Astros' loss was bad, it was NOTHING compared to what the other Texas team suffered. How would you like getting beat 17-5? That's what happened to the Texas Rangers in their visit to Fenway Park in a battle between two AL division leaders. Ryan Dempster picked up the win for Boston while Grimm took the loss for Texas.

* Miami lost by a football score of 7-3 at Philadelphia. If this was football, this would be the Eagles beating the Dolphins in a very-low scoring game. Winning for PHI was Stutes. Losing for Miami was Olmos. MIA outhit the Phillies 10 to 8 while both teams each accounted for two errors.

* I'm pretty sure it was a walk-off effort in Washington, D.C. as the Nationals beat the Mets 3-2. NYM led 2-1 heading into the Bottom of the 9th. Clippard got himself a win for Washington while Bobby Parnell (who I like) lost for the New York Mets.

* All the Yankees needed to win this game was a four-run 3rd Inning to beat the Cleveland Indians 4-3. Cleveland did its damage in the 7th inning, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bronx Bombers in New York City. Phelps was the winner for NYY along with a Save from one Mariano Rivera. Kazmir was the losing pitcher for the Tribe.

* Joey D's Tigers feasted on Rays meat with a 10-1 victory in Detroit. Sanchez was the winner for DET while Moore got his first loss of the season for TB, falling to 8-1. Omar Infante and Prince Fielder both went yard for the Tigers.

* Cincinnati saw the Colorado Rockies come into Cincy and beat them 5-4. Outman was the winning pitcher for CIN along with a Save from Brothers. LeCure lost for the Cincinnati Reds.

* It took ten innings, but the Atlanta Braves defended home nicely against the Pittsburgh Pirates. ATL won 5-4. For Atlanta, the winning pitcher was Varvaro. Losing for Pittsburgh was Mark Melancon.

Congratulations to all other winners.

Bird's tied up in the 9th inning now, I hope they come through. Braves came through in the bottom of the 10th! What a spring they are having this year. 👍
