14 games remaining for the Astros to reach 100 losses on the year. The move to the American League hasn't helped them in the least.

Well, we knew the AL would hand my Astros their backsides. It wasn't like we CHOSE to switch leagues. Even still, the Astros were losing horribly to teams in the NL the past two seasons. And yes- we're on pace for 100+ losses. Maybe even 110+.

On a lighter note, I am actually surprised how the Astros got adjusted to AL play. I just hate how some people talk about us like we're not supposed to ever win. As if the Astros are a Minor League team or an expansion team. Times are slow down here, but I actually think the Astros are doing a hell of a lot better than what most people expect (or lack thereof) out of us.

ESPN's "Around the Horn" talked about the the Astros being highly profitable right now. This, despite cable carriage issues and stuff like that. Not sure I exactly buy this sort of chatter.

Now that college has started for me, I can't stay up and watch these late games anymore except on Thursday nights and weekends (no class Friday). Oh well, at least I have ScoreCenter.

Both the Astros and White Sox combined for 18 runs tonight. More importantly, we pulled out the 10-8 victory at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. D. Martinez won for Houston along with a Save from Jordan Lyles (his first). It was Reed who lost for CHW. The White Sox outhit us 14-13 and committed two errors to our only one error. Four Astros went deep- Chris Carter, Jason Castro (who was named AL Player of the Week), Matt Dominguez, and Brett Wallace. Adam Dunn and (former Astro) Jeff Keppinger went yard for CHW. We are now 44-86 on the season. Either six wins away from 50 or 14 losses away from 100. Still- Astros win. Me happy boy.

Oakland heads to Detroit for 4.

*jumping on that A's bandwagon*
Could be the help we need ... provided we can also help ourselves. 💡

Matt Harvey torn UCL.

Out for rest of this year, could be out until 2015. Looks like that's when the Mets may compete, if at all.

They certainly did not need that. :ouch:

Congrats on winning the slugfest. 👍

I'm not totally giving up on the Tribe in catching Detroit. It's a daunting task to perform, but it is do-able. I think we have a better shot at the wildcard if we want to see any post season play.

Here are the wildcard standings.

I'm used to losing against the Cards. But to actually be leading (a rare feat against them), and then let them blow it wide open by allowing a grand slam is just sickening.

Glad my Rangers won last night. Just wish I could have stayed up and watched it.

I saw a replay of the homers by AJ and Mitch...they were seriously crushed.

Tonight it's Derek Holland against Hisashi Iwakuma.

I usually don't follow the late games much. I wasn't too reluctant to follow late games even when my Astros played at certain West Coast teams like the Padres, Dodgers, and the Giants. I did sort of follow late games when the Astros played at the Rockies and Diamondbacks. Since I don't go to college or have some kind of proper 9-to-5 job, I usually stay up past Midnight and don't head to bed until about 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM at the latest. Heck, I used to be a night owl who stayed up late into the night. So I can understand trying to keep up with late games.

MLB Network had a look at Matt Harvey when he played his final season at the University of North Carolina. One time in April 2010, he threw about 150+ pitches in one game! He had a lot of other starts at UNC where he put up 100 to 120+ pitches. He's quite the workhorse. Just feel sad that he's done for the season.

Just when we get some of that much needed help ... we can't help ourselves. Tribe falls in game 1 with Atlanta 2-0. :indiff:

We get to play each other after this series which will end up really helping one team and really hurting the other in their chances of winning the AL Central.

And unless the Tigers can get Verlander sorted out it's going to be a long September :indiff:. I don't know what's wrong with him, but there's obviously something taking his mind off the game.

Kate Upton :dopey:

Mets get 3 hitter from Niese as their depleted team shuts down the Phillies 5-0.

Ya I'd be messed up a bit too if Kate Upton dumped me for Blake Griffin...

Exactly right. This upcoming series between the Tigers and the Indians will be the nut in the nutshell for the A.L. Central. This could very well be the deciding factor of the season.

Somehow I think your going to take the money and run with it though. I'm more leaning with a wildcard shot for the Tribe.

Seems like the Astros lost 4-3 tonight. I HAD to see an update after seeing ildd talk about the Astros blowing a lead. Jordan Danks was the hero for the White Sox. Losing a game obviously hurts. But when you've accumulated so many losses, you just get used to it and don't feel overly bad. This season is as much a lost cause as any past losing Astros' season. But... all we can do is just play out the rest of the season and hope for happier times. Now 13 away from the dreaded 100 loss mark. Yay...

The pitching probables for tomorrow's Rubber Game will be Cosart (HOU: 1-1; 1.60 ERA) vs. Sale (CHW: 9-12; 3.08 ERA). Sounds like a good pitching duel. I like Chris Sale, but I'm hopeful Cosart will pull through.

I'm going to be glued to the ESPN gamecast on this one. This is kinda like Kershaw vs. Verlander but without great offensive players and a lot less money on the field

But as long as we get Carlos Rodon next year I'm fine with losing :/

Well...I was able to stay up tonight. Rangers and Mariners at 3 all at the start of the 7th. Iwakuma is out...

It's only the first game, but the Braves actually took it from Cleveland. This is a nice start. :dopey:

🤬 tie game. Gave away a 4 run lead in a single inning.

Edit: inning over, finally.

Edit 2: I love when they walk Goldy intentionally and Prado comes up and hits a 2 run double. :D Prado now has 30 RBI's in the month of August.

🤬 just gave the game away. Damnit. :grumpy:

Ball game! It took 10 innings but Texas took down Seattle 4-3. Texas had runners on first and third with Alex Rios at the plate, and guess what he did? Nothing. The home plate umpire called a VERY controversial balk, which allowed Ian Kinsler to score. Our commentators still don't know what happened.

Tomorrow is the season finale between these two teams, with Martin Perez and Felix Hernandez taking the mound starting at 2:35. I'm glad I could stay up tonight but I'll regret it tomorrow...
