Rangers lit up Felix Hernandez for 5 runs through 3 innings. :D He's still in though.

EDIT-Hernandez just knocked out of the game. 8 runs through 3 IP and 4 batters in the 4th. Wow.

9 runs. And they say Safeco Field is a pitcher's park. Well, clearly it is for Seattle since they can't hit a beach ball.

Yeah, I posted that before Beltre's bomb. :P

I still believe Safeco is a pitchers park. The Rangers just seem to know Felix's number. They've done well against him this season.

Way to go Chris Johnson. Up 2-0(series) against Cleveland is something I wasn't expecting. 👍

Maybe the sweep won't be on after all? The Reds put up a 6 spot on Wainwright in the 1st, then another 3 in the 2nd. Knowing the Reds, we won't score again the rest of the game. I would think a 9 run lead is safe...

It isn't over, but it might as well be. I saw highlights of my Astros getting shelled with a three-run jack by the White Sox. Last check of the score: 5-1 in the Top of the 8th. Well... 44-88, he we come (miracle pending). F:censored:ing yay...

[UPDATE] It was 6-1 at U.S. Cellular Field as the Astros must have been stymied after drawing the game to a 1-1 tie... all to see the White Sox pull away. Up next for Houston- back to Minute Maid Park to host the Seattle Mariners. Congrats to everybody who didn't fail today/tonight.

I was expecting Detroit to beat the crap out of Oakland...and Oakland at least takes 3 of 4. Tomorrows matchup is Colon vs Scherzer...that will be a good one.

The Rangers have a day off tomorrow before coming home for 3 against the Twins. In Ranger news, Lance Berkman and Neftali Feliz are expected to be activated from the DL Sunday. Feliz is coming off of Tommy John surgery, and has not pitched in the majors since May 2012. Alexi Ogando and Nick Tepesch could be back next week as well. Though, Ogando will be in the bullpen more than likely, now that Travis Blackley has earned his way into the 5th rotation spot.

Also, here is a fun stat...Felix Hernandez is 0-4 in 5 starts against Texas this year, with a 7.57 ERA.

Turned the game off, so far we've left 8 runners on base, and just gave up a 2 run homer. Losing 4-1. :indiff:

Heath Bell was well worth that trade. He's yapping his mouth off how the Mets snubbed him. Based on how he performed, I can't blame them.

Ball game! It took 10 innings but Texas took down Seattle 4-3. Texas had runners on first and third with Alex Rios at the plate, and guess what he did? Nothing. The home plate umpire called a VERY controversial balk, which allowed Ian Kinsler to score. Our commentators still don't know what happened.

It is not controversial at all. A balk may be called if a pitcher steps or feints from the rubber to first or third base without completing the throw. The only exception to that is when he is stepping to second base. The umpire noticed that he was stepping to a base, whether or not it was first, third or home, it didn't matter, the point was that he didn't complete his throw, and thus he balked.

My Astros are back home to host the Seattle Mariners for what seems to be a four-game swing. Any wins for the Astros will make me happy at this point for when we eventually surpass the 100-loss mark for the third successive season. Unless we get on some epic win streak or epic winning stretch, I have little or no hope for the Astros doing any better than the 56 wins in 2011 or the 55 wins last year.

Though we stink, the Houston Astros Baseball Club is still my team. I'm not becoming a fan of some other team any time soon. No bandwagon or fair weather fan in me.

Well...you learn something new every day. Thanks for the info.

Oakland is beating Detroit 6-2...wow. No help from the Tigers at all this series. :(

Disney is putting together a ride based on reliever Heath Bell. It's a normal rollercoaster except every fourth time you get on you are clubbed with a bat until someone pulls you off.

He's only the third pitcher to do that, I'd say that's pretty impressive. I know there are other stats so chill out.

LOL @ chill out. Yeah dude, I'm totally riled up by W/L! Grrrr!

Anyways.... His W/L isn't impressive in the slightest. All of his other stats? Very impressive and much more indicative of why he's been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball this year.

Need an example of why his W/L isn't impressive? He didn't get his second loss today, probably because he's soooo amazing, right? He only had his worst start of the year by giving up 6 runs in 5 innings. I don't care how you slice it, W/L as a pitching stat is lame (the lameness gets exaggerated for relief pitchers).

Braves swept the Indians. I so did not expect that. 👍

Your thumb is pointing the wrong way .... :lol: {j/k}
We sure did not need this, getting swept. Now we get to go into the Motor City on a losing note(s). This could get ugly for the Tribe ... real quick. :nervous:

Well, you could look at it this way. One tribe (The Braves), beat the other tribe (The Indians). Either way, The Tribe one. 💡

We were making the same joke at work today. Also, this guy says he's part Native American. He's one of the whitest white guys I know. Go figure.

Seattle beat us 3-2 here in Houston. That's three straight losses for the Houston Astros, who are probably content with racking up the losses so they can get this season over with. So we're stuck on 44 wins while the losses balloons up to 89. Pretty sure more fans here in Houston probably cared more about my Texans beating the Cowboys earlier tonight in NFL Preseason rather than see the Astros lose yet another damned game.

That's what happened to my hopeless and depressing Astros. Congrats to everybody who didn't fail today/tonight.

To be fair, before the year started (before they got Chris Carter&co) I said they would go 48-114. I've been actually suprised at how quick they adjusted to AL play.
But if you're going to lose might as well get the#1 pick again

Some moves went down today...Jason Kubel to the Indians, and John Axford to the Cardinals. And Michael Morse to the Orioles.

On another note, the AL Wild Card race will be heating up this weekend. The Rays take on the A's, and the Orioles take on the Yankees...
