Most of the sports shows have been on about the notion of the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrating in the pool in Chase Field. I don't know... I'd be pretty damned upset to (1) have someone clinch a playoff berth in MY ballpark, and (2) celebrate a playoff berth IN my ballpark using our facilities. That would be like the Boston Celtics celebrating an NBA Championship defeating the Los Angeles Lakers and partying their butts off at a famous L.A. nightclub. I don't know. I'd be pretty ticked off.

My Astros continue their four-game series at Cleveland with Game 2 of 4 tonight. After this one, I learned we got a series at the Texas Rangers starting Monday. Yay. Things going to go from bad to worse for this road trip.

Good luck to all of your teams this weekend.

Not that I saw the celebration, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Hate the Dodgers, but I heard that they even refrained from celebrating on the field. It sucks for the D-Backs, but they could have scored few more runs here & there this season & avoided this from taking place right on their field anyway.

On the video: Rat bastard!

The Rangers offense has been struggling alot lately. I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros win one of the games. Two games would somewhat surprise me, and a sweep would definitely surprise me.

A-Fraud hit grand slam #24 tonight, surpassing Lou Gehrig for most all time. Not earned right if you ask me. :yuck:

God (or some other deities) must REALLY hate the Astros. So much so that they lose without even playing a full nine innings. We failed 2-1 at Cleveland in a game ended by rain. That's now seven straight losses for the Astros. Damned shame.

Holy crap, the Reds just pulled a win out of their butts! Liriano was dealing all game against us, allowing only 2 runs (and was at 94 or so pitches). But Hurdle decided to put in the closer for the 9th, up 5-2. The Pirates got an out, then everything unraveled. Basically, 3 unearned runs off of an error allowed us to eventually tie the game. Oh, and Billy Hamilton came in to pinch run and stole base #10 on the year (in only a little over a week of play). Into extra innings we went. Votto hit a laser homer oppo to put us up by 1, and Chapman sealed the fate of the Pirates with a 102 mph heater strikeout.

Un-be-liev-able. :dopey:

Now if only the Rockies can beat the Cardinals, that would put us only 1 game back for the division lead. We are tied with the Pirates right now.

That moment when Billy Hamilton has twice as much steals in 2 weeks than Adrian Gonzalez has in career

I'm sorry but the idea of road teams partying in the local nightclubs of a town of the team they just beat doesn't sound offensive to me in the slightest.

Honestly, I'd be more surprised if most teams did NOT go out to local night clubs after winning huge games on the road.

"Whoo-hoo, we won! Let's wait under after this 5 hour flight to celebrate on the opposite end of the country!"

Matt Garza went the distance tonight against the Royals, going 8 innings and allowing one run, a solo homer to Eric Hosmer. This is the Matt Garza we wanted.

Actually, no, he didn't go the distance. He didn't pitch the ninth inning.

Still a great pitching job, though.

I found out my Astros lost 4-1 yesterday. Yay- 8 straight losses now. Seems like we're okay with 51 wins the way the Astros are content with losing. Probably going to get swept by both Ohio teams in suuccessive series unless the Astros wake the hell up...

So that term means pitching a complete game? Never knew that.

Either way, it was his longest and best start since getting traded here.

Rangers lose the series on a walk-off grand slam. :indiff:

And with that loss, we handed the AL West to Oakland again. That should have been Texas...but we choked it away for the second straight year. :grumpy:

And if the playoffs started today, we aren't in.

Braves clinched the East, but they've lost much steam, lately. Cardinals are in the Playoffs. I don't see how any NL team will get by the Dodgers, but I hope somebody playing them will get hot.

Red Sox are also in, but it certainly will be an uphill battle for the Rangers. It doesn't help how horrible they are playing right now. :ouch:

Anywho, that's my four teams this year.

The Reds surprisingly took this series from the Pirates with an 11-3 shellacking. We are now tied with the them for the top wild card spot, which will be either 2 or 3 games behind the Cardinals after their game against the Brew Crew tonight.

As I've felt before (the Cards basically have the division locked up), it's only going to be a matter of where they play their wildcard game. Will it be in Cincy or Pitt?

Edit: Forgot to mention Billy Hamilton led off today and went 3-6 with 2 more stolen bases. He has been crucial in helping us win games lately with this Jekyll and Hyde offense.

A good weekend at the Ballpark for the Tribe. We were able to sweep the Astros (sorry John) in the 4 game set.

Game 1) 2-1
Game 2) 2-1
Game 3) 4-1
Game 4) 9-2

We play 2 more at home against the ChiSox, then hit the road to finish up the season in Minnesota ... 3 game set.

5 games out of 1st in the A.L. Central, not a snowballs chance in hell of catching the Tigers. We are now clinging to the 1st place wildcard spot ... tied with Tampa Bay.

Here's hoping.

Good luck to your team(s) in this final week of baseball for the '13 season .... especially if you are in contention for the post season.

Thanks for the update on my hapless, hopeless Astros, Nicksflix. Failed to BOTH of the Buckeye State's Major League Baseball teams. So up now will be a trip to Rangers Ballpark to take on Texas. God, help the Astros... only divine intervention will help this team get over this now 9-game losing streak.

I was listening to the Brewers/Cards game on my local ESPN station, and the commentators mentioned that the Indians have swept every 4 game series they have played this year. Impressive stat.

What ... really ?!?!?!

I was unaware of that stat, and I'm even a Tribe fan. Guess I missed out on that one somewhere down the line. Thanks, really, for letting me aware of that. 👍

I'm actually fine with the Astros getting swept this time around. I'm a supporter of the Indians getting a wild card spot 👍

That's a pretty interesting stat on the Indians and four-game sweeps!

The Phillies closed out the home season by getting swept by the Mets, of all people. Three games in Florida then four in Atlanta, and that's it for the season.

Hoping next year will be a better year.

Same here with my Astros. But then again, there have been fewer and fewer wins for Houston. Now, we got Rangers problems for our next series in Arlington. Currently riding a 9-game losing streak that may likely go 10+.

Have a great Monday of baseball. Good luck to all of your teams with the regular season winding down.

9-0 Texas through 4. 👍 And about that stat, it's impressive for a team to do that. Some headlines from around the league... -Manny Machado was carted off the field of The Trop in the 7th when he injured his left leg on an infield single...it's pretty gruesome. -Justin Verlander has 10 K's through 4 innings against the Twins. -Joe Mauer and CC Sabathia have been shut down. Mauer because of a concussion, and Sabathia because of a hamstring.

And now, Alex Rios hit for the cycle!

Double-digit losing streak, here we come (pending miracles- note miracle... with an "s," meaning more than one). Can't the Astros just start over... like when we were 1-0 on the season and leading the AL West?

2015 season we will have a competitive team(.500)... pending prospects

Call me crazy but I think this was a successful year.

Pirates and Reds have clinched playoff berths. Congrats to both, but a larger congrats to the Pirates, first time in the postseason since 1992!

12-0, Texas. Ten straight losses for the Astros now as this series continues in Arlington. Still stuck on 51 wins. Seeing these other teams celebrate postseason berths make me realize that could be the Astros. Thing is, we're VERY far from that. Maybe they overachieve in 2014 and make the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round. But I would vastly appreciate an epic turnaround for Hosuton within 3-5 years. It will happen (hopefully), but will the Astros actually return to any sort of relevance any time soon?

Reds are in. Pirates are in. Congratulations to these two. Surely Dolph Drago is proud to see the Reds make the postseason.
