And, Texas lost...tying run stranded at second. This one REALLY hurt. That call with Alex Rios has to be the worst call against Texas this season. :indiff:

Oakland didn't win this game. The third base umpire did.

EDIT-Found a pic in some Facebook comments.

Give me a minute and I can come up with a picture clearly showing he's out. Just move the glove down a bit, show a little daylight between the runner's foot and the bag...

Point being, random pictures from Facebook are hardly conclusive proof of anything.

Yeah, I agree with BK on the photo, but the replay is clear as day. Mothertrucker looked right at it, from just 3, 4 feet away & blew that call. Nice job selling it by the third baseman. 🤬

Edit: Thank you FOX Sports. Yu Darvish is pitching, my TV schedule says Texas-Oakland game, yet I get Boston-New York. AGAIN. 👎 It's about the ratings, I get it. Just like how ABC spends trillion dollars for NBA rights, they show one game every week or two, then it's the Lakers.

The Rangers drop their fifth straight game, and fifth straight series. It's getting out of hand and Wash is sitting there doing nothing.

Yu Darvish had a great start, racking up 10 K's, but ZERO run support. And because of that, he gets another loss that he doesn't deserve. This is the FOURTH time this year he has gotten a loss in a 1-0 game.

This was a big series. No umpires to blame today. Just the usual lack of offense. This team is obviously not winning the division, and they'll be lucky if they get a wild card spot playing like this. The panic button has been pushed in Texas...Wash will probably ignore it like he has been doing.

Dodgers decided to let the Giants win again, although I'm not sure intention was to give up 17 runs.

Angels beat my Astros 6-2 here in Houston. So the four-game winning streak for HOU is snapped. Four and no more. Didn't follow the game at all because I was out and about with my family. So I think this is now a 51-97 record for Houston. Rubber Game of the LAA at HOU series is tomorrow afternoon.

Offense came out to play tonight for a change. If they can manage to play like that for most of a season maybe we'd not be a .500 average team as we have been lately.

Swept...again. Rangers dropped their sixth straight, and are now 6.5 games back. 10 runners reached base today, only one crossed home plate.

They ended up going 0-6 on this homestand, the first time this has happened in franchise history. And through 54 innings of play, they never had a lead. Just pitiful. Our postseason hopes are slipping away...the division is all but lost. And going into Tampa and Kansas playing like this, the same could be said for the wild card.

The fans' displeasure could be heard throughout the homestand...when I was there on Friday night, boos rained down in the 5th inning (9-2 Oakland at that point) as the Rangers were retired. And a good portion of the fans left. I got up to get a hotdog, and I could hear fans expressing their displeasure. Today, after the final out was recorded, boos rained down yet again. If an 0-6 homestand and fans booing the team doesn't make Wash have an hour-long closed door meeting, I don't know what will. Just pitiful.

That is depressing. I wanted to see the Rangers get to the World Series, but now I'd be happy to see them just get into the playoffs.

Houston failed again. 2-1 loss to the Angels as LAA took the series. So both Texas teams respectively lose to two California teams, and losing their respective series.

As they say, misery loves company...

Get out the brooms ... the Tribe sweeps the ChiSox - in Chicago ! What a weekend for the Tribe as they attempt to make a push for the post season.

Game one 14-3
Game two 3-1
Game three 8-1
Game four 7-1

Unfortunately - we are still 5 games behind Joeys Tigers, but we did move up into within a 1/2 game of the wildcard behind Tampa Bay and Texas.

Up next for the Tribe, a 3 game set with the Royals (in K.C.), then we come home for a 4 game set to do some battle with John's Astros.

Good luck Tribe and good luck John as we get ready to tango in Cleveland.

Yeah, it really is. Everything has gone downhill it seems since game 6 of the 2011 WS. Though, at least this year, they aren't going to lose it on the last day of the season with a magic number of just one.

If they make the wildcard playoff, they might have Nelson Cruz back...which would be a much needed boost to the team. Though, if they keep playing like this, Nelly may have already played his last game in a Texas uniform, as he is a free agent this winter.

Pirates win. Cardinals win. Nationals win. Reds' bullpen blows a 5-1 lead. So we lose 2 of 3 to the Cubbies and 2 of 3 to the Brew Crew. St. Louis and Pittsburgh are going to duke it out for the division. With the way the Nationals are playing, there is legitimate concern that we could lose out on that second wild card to them. The Nationals may be 4 1/2 games back from us for that spot, but 6 of the remaining 12 games on our schedule are against the Pirates. We're visiting John's Astros for a 3 game set starting tomorrow. It may be our saving grace. The Mets will be the other 3 games of the final part of the schedule in between the two Pirate series'.

Whatever the case may be, we won't make it past the wildcard playoff game (if we even hold on to it) if we continue down this absurd path.

To that point, I read the Nationals will play a day-night doubleheader tomorrow.

Meanwhile, it is an NL Central family reunion for my Astros as we're hosting Dolph Drago's Reds. I remember how Roy Oswalt had that beast record pitching against Cincinnati when with the Astros. Anyhow, Reds in H-Town. Astros are 51-98. Cincinnati is 84-66 with plenty to play for.

Enjoy your baseball tonight and good luck to your teams.

Speaking of Oswalt, wonder what he's up to these days. Last I heard he was on the DL with the Rockies.

And, the Rangers are already trailing 1-0... :grumpy:

Rangers drop their SEVENTH straight...they're now 2-12 in September, and haven't had a single lead in 63 innings of play. It looked good in the first few innings, when they came back to tie it twice, but Garza just imploded in the 5th inning.

Leonys Martin had a few defensive issues, and Ian Kinsler was caught in two rundowns, from third to home and second to third.

Nothing positive came out of this game. I bet a little league team could beat them right now...they are THAT bad. :ouch:

Astros were 51-98. Now, we're 51-99 after a 6-1 loss to the Reds. That magical 100th loss is within reach now. Both teams accounted for seven hits. We commited the game's only error while the Reds picked up the win. Welcome back to Johnny Cueto- you whipped my Astros' butts. E. Bedard was the Astros' loser.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros get loss number 100 either in this series or in the upcoming series at Ohio's other Major League Baseball team. So unless some epic winning streak happens, it will be our third-straight 100+ loss season. F:censored:ing yay...

@John, I'm going to the game tomorrow. Over the past 4 years they have had a pretty solid win % when I go. Over 25 games they have only lost 5 I think. I'm just good luck
Would love to see how the NL central gets shook up if the Astros win the series

I remember how Roy Oswalt had that beast record pitching against Cincinnati when with the Astros.

No doubt Oswalt absolutely dominated the Reds for years. I happened to be lucky enough to be at the first game we finally did win against him. It was pretty exciting.

As for the current season, at least we don't have to deal with him anymore . There is the possibility of us running your Astros to the 100 loss mark, John, but I wouldn't be so certain. Like I mentioned in my previous post, we have lost our last 2 series to losing teams. There's a chance the 'stros could come away unscathed with less than 100 losses after our final matchup.

Pitcher Cliff Lee goes three for four against the Marlins last night, with four RBI's and his first-ever triple in a 12-2 win.

I am hearing that the Mets COULD (repeat COULD) be trading for Tulowitzki in the winter.

How will you remember Colorado's Todd Helton once he retires at the end of this season? Also, do you think he will be a Hall of Famer?

I'll remember him as a franchise player for the Rockies...one of two faces of that franchise (the other being Tulo).

I've been watching baseball for 14 years, and he has been a pleasure to watch. He never left the Rockies to go to a better team. I always applaud players who spend their entire career with one team. He will no doubt go into Cooperstown.

Dodgers "Get Healthy" tour continues in Arizona. Kemp and Ramirez are back in the line-up. Kershaw, Ryu, and Greinke got scheduled for off-days and playoff rotation set-up purposes.

I'm curious how many Volquez, Fife, and Capuano starts are left in the season.
