Dodgers lose again, Braves lose again. :ouch: I guess I'm being glass half-empty. Braves lost, but at least they lost, too.

Papelbon racked up his fifth win of the season last night. Of course to do it, he also had to rack up his seventh blown save as well by giving up a two out two run shot by Andrelton Simmons in the ninth.

Freddy Galvis was awesome last night. While that's not really a surprise defensively, last night his awesomeness was on the offensive side of things, going 4 for 5 and capping it with a walkoff home run.

Rangers are doing a bit better today. Alex Rios hit a solo shot in the first inning, but Cole Calhoun did the same thing later to tie it. Nick Tepesch is done after 3 and a third, only because he had a pitch limit today (first start since July).

Hopefully the Rangers can win today, to make it a 2-4 roadtrip (yes it's still a bad trip). And hopefully the Astros can win today too.

So far, its 7-1, Oakland... Bottom of the 6th in Oakland. Astros will need an epic rally to save their backsides right now.

Rangers get a BIG win today. They capitalized on some bloop hits in the 7th to tie and go ahead.

Astros lost 7-2, but the Rangers win keeps them on pace with Oakland 1.5 games out. The roadtrip went 2-4 for Texas. Now they come home for a six game homestand with the Pirates and A's. I'll be at the games on Tuesday and Friday.

Now, getting ready for some Cowboys football!

So today's 7-2 fail at Oakland makes us 47-96(?) now. I actually wonder which mark the Houston Astros will cross first- 50 wins or 100 losses. I certainly hope for the former... followed by the eventual 100+ losses. Only way the Astros somehow avoid 100 losses at this point is if they finish the season much like how the L.A. Dodgers had that impressive winning stretch for LAD to be where they are now.

Congratulations if your team won today. Better luck next time if your team failed today.

For the first time since June the Phils sweep a series. And for the first time since 2011, it was the Braves who got swept.

This will make no difference in the overall scheme of things for either team, of course. Barring miracles, the Braves are going to win the East and the Phils will finish under .500 for the first time in over ten years.

As for the Astros, I'm afraid they're more likely to hit 100 losses before reaching 50 wins than the other way around. I could be wrong on that since we're talking three or four games either way but if I were a betting man that's how I'd bet.

Up next for the 46-97 Houston Astros is a series at Seattle. Neither Houston nor Seattle have anything meaningful to play for except for pride, and it used to be that we strung together a few wins against Seattle earlier this season. I'll see how my Astros do against the Pacific Northwest's only MLB team. That is... unless some expansion club or franchise moves to Portland or Vancouver.

Other games/series tonight (among others):
* New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles
* Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds
* Washington Nationals at New York Mets
* Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins
* Pittsburgh Pirates at Texas Rangers
* Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
* Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Minnesota Twins

Enjoy some Monday baseball, folks.

As already mentioned, the Pirates play here in Texas starting tonight. I have been excited for this series all year. Can't wait to see Cutch tomorrow night.

Oakland is off today, but they head to Minnesota tomorrow to take on the Twins. So the Angels/Twins game today must be a make-up. Hopefully the Twins can beat up on Oakland...the Twins seem to have a decent rotation.

Getting our asses handed to us in LA as expected.

6 of the 7 runs for the Dodgers right now are from home runs. SIX. 🤬 stupid. We might as well take the rest of the season off, seem to be doing it already.

Edit: oops DP, meant to edit not quote.

So somehow the Reds went on their tear to take 3 of 4 from the Cards, then sweep the Dodgers. Then they drop their first game to the Cubs? :boggled: Granted, Travis Wood is an excellent pitcher, as he pitched very well again tonight against us. I was disappointed when we traded him away to the Cubs a couple of years ago. He was the only lefty in the rotation at the time, and a damn good one at that. Unfortunately, he's stuck with the Cubs for now. He deserves a better team.

Also, congrats to the Pirates on their first winning season in 21 years. The NL Central is going to be a brawl at the end of the season. The Reds and Pirates still have 2 series against each other, which means someone will have to be losing those games while the Cards will most likely just pull away and win the division. Looking like it'll be a 1 game playoff between the Pirates and Reds.

My Texans just won their NFL game at San Diego, and the good news for Houston teams continues as we knocked off Seattle 6-4. Chapman and Fields (Save) combined for the HOU win, and Farquhar lost for SEA. A GOOD Houston sports night for a change! Win #48 for the Astros this season.

Mets apparently will lose their radio station channel next year to the Yankees. They were on WFAN for over 25 years.

2014 schedules were released today. The Dodgers and D-Backs will play 2 games in Sydney in March.

My Rangers will open the season at home against the Phillies. Other NL teams we will face here in Arlington include the Rockies, Marlins, and Braves. We also travel to face the Rockies and Marlins, as well as the Nationals and Mets.

The Dodgers/Dbacks matchup in Australia was announced a couple months ago.

Speaking of the Dodgers and Dbacks... the Magic Number is now 8. :sly:

If Arizona comes back on Los Angeles, then the Dodgers would be the most show-off team this season. Start off terrible, then beat league to a pulp, then finish terrible.

The Tribe is gaining a little bit of ground on A.L. leading Detroit. Just 4.5 back of them, but the clock is ticking down.
Will there be enough time for Tribe ?
Can the Tribe get the help they need ?
Better question being - Can the Tribe help themselves ?

Not holding my breath, but we will see.

It wasn't a bad weekend as we took 2-3 from the Mets in the Big Apple. The current series sees us hosting the KC Royals. Game 1 went to the Tribe 4-3. Game 2 goes to the Royals 6-3. The rubber match will be tomorrow at high noon. After this series we head up into the Windy City to take on the ChiSox in a 4 game set.

Here's hoping.
