Adams goes yard again?? :banghead: No way we're coming back this time. Especially not with the bottom of the lineup. Though it's not like the meat of the order has done much of anything anyways.

Edit: And that's that. Didn't even put up a fight.

I'm praying for 20-5, Rockies. I have my doubts.

Edit: Congrats Birds, great game Reds. 👍 Now go to bed!

We ended up getting 2 out of 3 from the O's .... woot !!

Tomorrow is an off day, then Friday starts a weekend series at home with the Mets, and then KC comes to town for a 3 game set. Still we sit 6.5 in back of the Motor City Kitties who are showing no signs of letting up. We are 3 games back in the wildcard, behind Tx. / Oak. - T. Bay - NYY. We still have a more legitimate shot at the wildcard than the division ..... hoping, hoping, hoping for some post season play.

CBS Sports had this picture, capturing the wide variety of reactions to the foul ball:

Somebody pointed out the "Army Dad" with the "ewwww... hands". So many funny reactions in there, and you gotta love the two old ladies upfront.

Edit: When Dodgers lose, it's like a Holiday anymore. We should start marking them on the calendar.

So the Phillies still have a shot at a .500 season. All they have to do is go 18-4.

The Red Sox's eight homers last night tied a club record. I watched the bottom of the eighth to see if they would beat it, turned the game off when they didn't. Figured there was no way in hell there was going to be a bottom of the ninth.

Has anybody ever scored 16 runs in one inning, does anybody know?

I think a couple years ago, the Rockies scored 9 runs in the 9th(ALL with 2outs)to win the game. But... that's the only example I can think of

I've seen ten runs scored on a couple occasions. But never anything close to sixteen, that's why I'm asking. I suppose we'd have to ask Elias Sports Bureau for a definitive answer.

Just google it. Baseball almanac has a list of most runs scored in each inning. I think the record is 17, from 1883 (or thereabouts). There was a 16 in the 50's

Texas scored ten in their 8th as part of their infamous rout of the O's back in 2007. ESPN noted at the time that the last time the Ravens, who play across the street, allowed 30 was back in week 12 of 2005. Here is a gem from Ron Washington about the game:

Ron Washington
"I knew we'd get the bats going, but I never expected anything like this. When the faucet is on, you want it to stay on. You never want to cut it off."

That game was part of a double header that in game two, the Rangers tacked on 9 more runs to set a MLB record of runs in a double header.

EDIT: It was ironic because they were leading 3-0 before the runs scored.

Among other games this weekend, my Astros will try to do anything but play dead in Oakland in our four-game swing at the Oakland Athletics. The New York Yankees will have themselves some Boston Red Sox problems in the Bronx. Yep- best friends playing baseball against each other- BOS at NYY for four games.

Enjoy your weekend baseball! All teams still in postseason contention... keep playing hard and maybe get some help from other teams.

I'm praying that the Astros can at least split the series with Oakland, and the Rangers can sweep the Angels (which is what happened the last 2 times they played each other).

I have tickets for Tuesday's game against the Pirates. Pretty excited for that series.

The Astros are leading 3-0 in the 4th inning against Oakland! My reaction:

I hope their bullpen can hold it, or their bats can pile on more runs. Either way, an Astros win will make both me and John happy. 👍

Gibby just got tossed because the home plate umpire is a 🤬 idiot.

Baseball NEEDS that replay system. Stupid ump would have seen that the SF runner never touched home plate.

Anyone know what's up with the Oakland game? There was a triple, then a double, then Houston went to change pitchers and it just stopped there...

Edit: never mind, guess the mlb app stopped working for that game. Working now.

Are you looking at it on ScoreCenter? I think it's a bug...mine won't refresh.

MLB AtBat shows 3-2 Astros in the top of the 9th. Cook pitching, Barnes batting, 2 outs.

EDIT-Astros win the first game of the series! With that the Rangers once again have sole possession of the AL West by a half game. I can go to bed happy. 👍

Meh, why they couldn't seem to hit anything against pitchers with 5 to 6 ERA's, who knows. I call the A's take the next 3. ;)

It was 3-2 in Oakland as the Houston Astros Baseball Club picked up their 47th win. I am obviously proud of this win as I didn't follow this game at all.

Well duh, you're right. Silly me, not to try Googling before posting.

Anyhow, yeah, Google leads me (indirectly) to this game, in which the Red Sox put up 17 in the seventh inning against the Detroit Tigers, of all people.

Total of 26 runs scored, game played in three hours and three minutes. Obviously this was before TV had a major influence on the game.

Rangers will take the field in a little over an hour after their off day yesterday. It's Matt Garza against CJ Wilson in the opener. The Rangers have always done well against CJ ever since he left the Rangers.

Currently have the Sox game on, and they're losing 6-2... :(

Rangers have a 3-0 lead over the Angels through 3. The Texas offense has gotten a bit better...2 of the 3 runs were brought in on RBI singles with the scoring runner coming from 2nd. The other run came on an Alex Rios homer. Matt Garza is also cruising along just fine.

Up the coast, the Astros have a 3-1 lead over Oakland in the bottom of the 3rd.

Can't stay up and watch the whole game, or wait until the Oakland game is over, unfortunately. Getting up at 5:30 for 2 car shows. :D
