This umpire has a horrible strike zone. Strikes are balls for Texas pitching, and balls are strikes for Tampa pitching. 👎
I'd be totally down with that, if it was the other way around......

Edit: Who started for the Rangers?

I see the Rangers are down right now..... :ouch: What do you think are the odds of seeing Darvish tonight?
Zero percent chance. He pitched yesterday.

Gentry called out on strikes on a pitch that nearly hit him. No swing either. PitchTrax showed it wasn't even touching the strike zone. 🤬

I hope bad umpiring doesn't decide the game here, but they happen.

Yeah, same here. Zobrist just got the same pitch Gentry got and it was called a ball. Perez pulled, Ogando coming in.

Sounds like a pretty exciting game.

Meanwhile, my Redlegs decided to finish off the regular season with 5 straight losses. :banghead: At least it wasn't 15 games (Sorry, John). As usual, we can't score runs. I'm sure the Pirates will be moving on to face the Cardinals after tomorrow night. We sure as hell aren't going to put up enough runs to win.

It just did... against the Rays.

2 outs in the 7th, ump called a fly-out to end the inning when the ball (very) clearly hit the ground. Cost them a guaranteed run, plus possibly more(would still have 2 on)

Leonys Martin made a fantastic "catch" to get out of a big jam. He dove, and caught it. However, replay showed it clearly bounced into his glove. It cost Tampa at least a run.

Oh well, kind of payback for them having an expanded strike zone.

Sorry, Strike zone is one thing, you do NOT make THAT kind of error in this game. If Tampa Bay loses this game in 9, I think I'd file a grievance for that.

Texas gets another lucky call against the Rays...

Remember this.

Inconsistent strike zone could potentially decide a game.

I did see the play you guys are referring to, and yeah, I didn't like that either.

Strike zone is one thing, missing an out like that is another. Remember the rule of seniority that always gets rumored? Texas with a younger pitcher won't get the calls Price does.

I used to be a NBA fan. Used to be, because of something called "benefit of doubt" favoring veteran & star players on calls. Me, I just call that fraud.

Texas is done. They're just losing their momentum and fight.

Time to prepare for yet another long offseason after yet another heartbreaking collapse... :scared:

If they get done in here in the 9th, at least they got a nice second chance at the Wild Card. Very frustrating, but they are getting outplayed tonight.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if Wash is gone next season.

So many big, must-win games over the years that Texas just choked away. A few that come to mind are games 4 and 5 of the 2010 WS, games 6 and 7 of the 2011 WS, games 158-162 last year, the 2012 AL wild card playoff, and now this.

It's infuriating. A strike away TWICE from a World Series, but the baseball gods hate the Rangers. It's been downhill ever since David Freese forced that game 7. We dominate April through August, we MAY or MAY NOT dominate in September. If we get to October, we get through the DS and CS, but choke in the World Series. That's what it's been like since 2010. Better than the years prior, but it's just as infuriating.

I'm picking the Red Sox to win it all. Oakland has been hot for awhile, would be perfect timing for a cool-off. :D

But I do hope the Pirates and Indians win their wild card games.

Oaklands pitching isn't that great but they have managed to get where they are by outscoring the other teams through most of the season with some great hitting.

Reds are toast, barring a miracle 9th. Looking towards next year now. :indiff:

I think Dusty's in the same boat as Washington. When an important game is on the line, it's choke city.

That sucks. My team's probably next, but I just hope they give the Dodgers hell. Go Braves! Red Sox & Birds, too!

And the season comes to an end. Grilli throws up a whopping 7 pitches to end finish us off, with both Frazier and Cozart hitting into outs on the 1st mother:censored:ing pitch. I have no idea why we kept swinging at the first pitch tonight. So many outs came about from them. So we finish with 2 runs. Seems about right.

True. But when their pitchers are on their A-game, they can't be beat. Colon for example. Same with AJ Griffin and Jarrod Parker. Their front 3 always provided a decent punch, but their back 2...well, Dan Straly was inconsistent, and the 5th starter always seemed to be someone different.

Kind of like us last year. We ended the season on a 4 game losing streak, then lost the Wild Card game.

Though, Jon Heyman from CBS Sports is reporting that Wash will be back next year. And, this article does bring up quite a few good points about Wash.

As for the rest of the postseason, I'm not going to be watching much of it until the World Series. I watched a bit of the NL Wild Card game tonight. I'm hoping the Tigers will beat Oakland again in the ALDS, and I'm hoping Cleveland beats Tampa tomorrow night to face Boston. I'm primarily going to be going for the Red Sox and Dodgers, since those two teams each have an ex-Ranger that the fans here loved - Michael Young on the Dodgers, and Mike Napoli on the Sox. Both deserve a ring, but I'd rather see the Dodgers win since I think Michael Young will be hanging it up soon.

I reported long ago that Vin Scully will return to call another season (his 65th(?)) of baseball. But the 2014 season will reportedly be his final season. Vin Scully is truly one of the finest voices in any sport. More power to Vin Scully. Keep that motor running.

Christ, how many teams do you have?
I like the Braves & the Cardinals, but honestly, when it comes to baseball, I'm a casual fan/bandwagon fan at best. In the AL, I was pulling for the Red Sox & the Rangers, but I like the Tigers, too. Heck, I even rooted for the Yankees with Ichiro on there this year.

NL, I like most everybody..... except the Dodgers, because of smack talk that goes between me & my friends who are Dodger fans.

In short, probably 3/4 of the league.

Bench coach Jackie Moore and 1B coach Dave Anderson have been told their contracts won't be renewed.

Wonder who's leaving Texas next...but, Wash is for sure staying.
