Astros go back-to-back... winning, that is. The Rangers and Astros now both have 38 wins each after we won 8-3 in Arlington last night. The one time I checked into the score, I think we were leading 3-1 in the Top of the 4th.

...MLB Network did a live look-in as the Arizona Diamondbacks were leading the Miami Marlins by a score of 1-0 in the Top of the 9th. Man, I felt for R1600Turbo when MIA hit a two-run jack to lead 2-1. Worst of all, ARI was ahead with two outs in the Top of the 9th before the two-run bomb. Arizona couldn't bounce back, and so they failed 2-1. I'm sorry for the Snakes on this one.

Congratulations to all other winners from Tuesday. I edited this post to include that ARI was just one out away from putting down Miami.

Did anyone catch MLB Network's newest "invention," ShiftTrax? It shows the fielding alignment during each play. Was really cool and I'm surprised it hasn't been done before.
Though, it has been in video games since 2004ish :D

The Rangers have probably hit an all-time low for this season. Not only did the Astros sweep us, but with that sweep, the Rangers have dropped into dead last in the AL West. :nervous:

Three in a row! What do you know! The Houston Astros won 8-4 tonight at the Texas Rangers. Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas wasn't too happy seeing the Astros come in and sweep the Rangers. That is... unless you were an Astros fan who shown up at the ballpark. The three-game sweep pushes the Astros' win total on the season to 39. I read that the Astros last swept the Rangers on the road back in 2003. Now keep in mind- it isn't like HOU and TEX been battling for decades. I think their first-ever meeting was back in 1997. Still, we'll take the victory and the sweep. Dallas Keuchel won for Houston, and Yu Darvish was the loser for the Texas Rangers.

Our final series before the All-Star Break will begin on Friday night when we host the defending champion Boston Red Sox for three at Minute Maid Park. So we'll just enjoy this Thursday off and try to hopefully reach or exceed 40 wins before the All-Star Break.

* ...I saw on MLB Network as Paul Goldschmidt cashed in an RBI Double to help R1600Turbo's Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Miami Marlins 4-3 in 10 innings in Phoenix. Goldy made sure the D-Back fans went home happy, and did Goldy deliver!

* The Colorado Rockies doubled up the San Diego Padres 6-3 in Denver.

* Midwestern hospitality was offered up in Detroit as the Los Angeles Dodgers fell 4-1 to the Tigers.

* Speaking of Midwestern hospitality, Philadelphia was having none of Milwaukee's hospitality, as PHI won 4-1 in Milwaukee. The Brewers still have one of the best records in the league so far.

* Blitz24's Mets recently celebrated their 4,000th win. Tack on another win for NYM as they won 4-1 hosting the Atlanta Braves.

* It was also 4-1 in Cincinnati as Dolph Drago's Reds tamed the Chicago Cubs.

* Knock your Sox off! In Boston, the Boston Red Sox won 5-4 over the Chicago White Sox.

* Another game that ended 5-4 was in St. Petersburg, FL as the Kansas City Royals beat the Tampa Bay Rays.

* Defense was overrated as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hosted the Toronto Blue Jays. Patrick's Angels won 8-7 today.

* The Baltimore Orioles hosted the Washington Nationals today. Sadly for Baltimore fans, the Nationals put a 6-2 thrashing on the O's.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday.

Have heard that both Yadiar Molina and Brandon Phillips are going to be out 8-12 weeks after getting surgery on a torn ligament on their thumbs. I saw Yadi side into 3rd weirdly last night, didn't see if same thing happened to Phillips.

Reports surfacing that Masahiro Tanaka has a partially torn UCL. Best case scenario, he will undergo rehab and miss six weeks. If the rehab doesn't work, TJ will be needed.

Actually, best case scenario is that Yankees tell him to undergo TJ. At this point it's not if, it's when. Whenever that is, they lose a year from him at least. If he tears it more the rehab could be even more difficult.

Tigers crush the Royals in a 16-4 blowout. And the news on Tanaka sucks. I hope he recovers quickly regardless of rehab or TJ.

The defending champion Boston Red Sox came to Minute Maid Park and beat us 8-3 last night. It's been 100 years since that first start. I found out Boston put a five spot on us in the Top of the 6th. The Astros could do nothing to stop the onslaught. And so... we failed. The Astros are now 39-55 on the 2014 season.

Also... can you believe that on July 11, 1914; Babe Ruth made his Major League Baseball debut? It's been 100 years since his debut. Baseball has SO much history that we're almost spoiled by all the various aspects of baseball past and present. And last I checked, Babe Ruth came out pretty good through his career ever since.

The Houston Astros just won their 40th game of the season with a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox. We got a Rubber Game tomorrow afternoon in our final series before the All-Star Break.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday. Or, what did your boys do today/tonight?

Rodney has always had a tendency to be very erratic. Either he's on or he's off by a mile.

Richards will be named probably to replace some of those who obviously will be out.

With authority, we were Boston's b:censored:es today here in Houston. The Astros must have conceded defeat as we failed bigtime: an 11-0 evisceration. Our starting pitcher was taken out of the game after giving up a lead-off Home Run by BOS. Maybe the Astros wanted to All-Star Break to come sooner than usual. Maybe the Astros already sensed failure after setting up this Rubber Game. Either way, we got hammered at Minute Maid Park by the defending champs.

So with the All-Star Break coming, the Houston Astros Baseball Club will finish 40-56 before the Astros begin working on the remainder of the season starting July 18 with a road trip up coming. We're at the Chicago White Sox for three games followed by a three-game set at the Oakland Athletics (an OAK sweep is likely).

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday. Just sad the Astros couldn't be one of those winners, at least on this day.

It's close atop the NL Central, with only 3 1/2 games separating the 1st place Brewers and 4th place Pirates. Sammiched in between are the Cards at 1 back, and the Reds 1 1/2 behind heading to the All Star break.

Even with the Reds closing the gap over the past month and a half, I'm not convinced we'll be contenders at the end of the season. Votto is on the DL (again) for an undetermined amount of time, and Phillips is going to be out at least 6 weeks. Everyone seems beat up. Yet despite sending a good chunk of AAA players to the plate the past week, we've still managed to win. The bullpen has been a mess, aside from Chapman and Broxton. Ondrusek, Parra, and Hoover had been great at times last year, but absolutely horrid many times this season. At least the starting pitching is still pretty damn good. And the defense is still strong as ever. We'll see how the standings look at the end of the season.

As for the ASG...not surpisingly, Cueto made the All Star team. Though since he pitched today, he's ineligible to pitch in the game. To me, and many others, Simon has been a pleasant surprise. So much so that he was named an All Star replacement. Chapman has a Major League record going for number of consecutive appearances recording a strikeout. And Frazier and Mesoraco have been named alternates. In fact, Frazier is going to be in the home run derby (can't remember the last time a Red was in it). It's going to be fun watching him. Some of the bombs I've seen out of him...

We failed miserably last night by giving up two Grand Slams, including one to their pitcher.

At least Oakland didn't get swept.

My Astros and R1600Turbo's Diamondbacks sharing the same record, and the Texas Rangers at the bottom of the AL West. Not to mention Texas the only team below 40 wins on the season. Who knew?

This is what all the teams will be looking at once the All-Star Break concludes. Good luck to all of your teams moving forward.

Tonight is the Home Run Derby. Good luck to all participants in this year's Home Run Derby. Hit 'em hard! Balls will fly all around Minneapolis with the 2014 Home Run Derby.

If you told me that the Rangers would have the worst record at the ASB at the beginning of the season, I would have said "You're thinking of the Astros." But they're close, anyways.

Speaking of the Astros, they have until Friday to sign Brady Aiken. If they don't, I believe they will get the first pick next year; assuming they don't win the prize for the fourth straight year. Though I might be wrong...

The Rangers first half of the season mercifully came to an end yesterday. They are on an 8 game losing streak, just wrapped up an 0-7 homestand, and currently hold baseball's worst record.

I'll be surprised if the Rangers reach 50 wins this year.

The 2014 Home Run Derby came down to Yoenis Céspedes (Oakland Athletics) and Todd Frazier (Cincinnati Reds). Céspedes is the defending Home Run Derby champion, and he defended his title proper by beating out Todd Frazier with nine homers compared to Todd Frazier's one homer. All congratulations to Yoenis Céspedes on defending his crown. I believe he's the first one to win the Home Run Derby back-to-back since Ken Griffey Jr. in 1998-1999.

Tuesday's the All-Star Game. Our Omnis famously said "AL plays money, NL plays baseball." That means since my Astros are an American League team (I still miss their National League days), I'm on the "money" side. Who do you have winning the 2014 All-Star Game: the American League or the National League?

I'll just say one thing...Chris Berman is annoying. BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK...yeah, you get the point.

And he kept referring to Yoenis as "Yoen-eese". I don't know about you guys, but I pronounce it with a short I at the end.

Anyway, very surprised Giancarlo Stanton didn't make it to the final, or that Yasiel Puig didn't hit a single homer.

Puig was more surprising to me than Stanton. The format is terrible. Stanton was loose and in the zone and then he has to go stand around in a cold cave of a batting cage? That's completely stupid.

I actually passed out before the final round. I didn't even make it to the 2nd round. Zzzz BORING.

All batters should be on deck and the players should get 15 pitches and 5 outs per at-bat. Once all 15 pitches (10 baseballs, 5 golden balls) are thrown, or the players gets 5 outs (whichever comes first), the next batter comes up. They should keep going in rounds like this until they rack up 10 outs and are eliminated.

What's so hard about that? They don't even have to do AL vs. NL.

Stanton would've never gotten cold, and Dozier and Puig would've both sat down after 5 or 6 pitches so they could take a breath and not be so flustered. It would be so much better.

I didn't see the Derby, but was kinda surprised that Frazier made it to the finals. Then again, just judging by his home run count, it wasn't like he lit it up that much.

Currently 5-3 AL at the end of the fifth inning.
and the score stood to the end of the game. Final score: 5-3 AL. Sherzer is credited with the win, and Perkins got the save.
