New York Mets got another great performance from Jacob deGrom, who went 7 innings, with 7 Ks and 5 Hits (1 BB). He is molding into a very good pitcher. If he can keep this up the rest of the way the Mets SP will be very dangerous in 2015 with Harvey, Wheeler, Niese, Gee, deGrom and Montero/Syndergaard waiting in the wings.

A would-be Perfect Game in Seattle by the New York Mets got broken up. NYM's Perfect Game lasted about six innings. As of this post, it is 3-2, Mets in the Bottom of the 8th.

The bid was broken up by Robinson Cano, no-less. Sucks for Colon- I was hoping that he could keep it to the end.

The Oakland Athletics put an offensive hurting on my Astros. We were down 5-0 at one point and even 8-1 at another. The Astros did all they could to try to avoid getting flattened. In the end, we failed 9-7. So Thursday afternoon's series finale of HOU at OAK is the Rubber Game. Full credit to the Astros for not conceding. Houston isn't going to have George Springer since he's on the 15-day Disabled List. This was the first game without him.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday.

The Astros failed in their rally last night when they lost 9-7 after being down about 9-1. Well, we got owned today. Oakland beat us as bad- 13-1. Only Astros' score was a solo homer. So... that's some sad news from the Astros Nation.

Congrats to all other Thursday winners, including Toronto's 8-0 blanking of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees' 4-2 victory hosting Texas.

After having their lunch money stolen and crying home from our beating in Oakland on Thursday, we headed back to Minute Maid Park to host the Miami Marlins. Only two runs were scored... both by Miami. The failing continues for H-Town's Major League Baseball team. Miami wins 2-0. All the Astros can do is just get after the next one. We'll play again on Saturday night.

Good job to everyone who DIDN'T fail on Friday.

Cincy finally pulled one out today to stop the skid. Of course we still only scored 1 run. Thank you, Cueto for your excellent game.

Touchdown Marlins... it was a football score of 7-3 was what we lost by tonight here in Houston to a former NL foe. Miami began with a run scored followed by the Astros picking up two runs. Since then... *sigh* that losing feeling. Astros must be happy with the number of wins they have so far and feel that's enough to satisfy their fans. I can only hope the Astros- even without the services of George Springer can finally wake the hell up and avoid getting swept by the Marlins.

Elsewhere...

* [New] Yankee Stadium has been a House of Horrors for Toronto, losing 17 straight times heading into today including a loss last night. Today, they finally win one at NYY. It was a 6-4 victory for the only remaining Canadian Major League Baseball team.

* All congratulations to Dolph Drago's Cincinnati Reds on snapping their losing ways. The score was 1-0, but a win is a win.

* After failing last night, Oakland returned the favor to the Texas Rangers with a 5-1 victory in Arlington. Rubber Game of that series is tomorrow afternoon. Texas at this point can only play spoiler in the AL West.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday.

I want to take this moment to honor the individuals who will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame today. Congratulations. Speaking of which... the Hall of Fame balloting now has fewer years for how long a name remains on a ballot. Instead of 15 years, it is now 10.

As for the games today, good luck to all of your teams.

Angels ended up taking the final three vs Detroit and only allowed three runs in those games. Bullpen has been so good in July 👍

Swept by the Fish. 4-2 was what the Miami Marlins won against my hapless, hopeless Astros here in Houston. Back to AL play tomorrow night when the Oakland Athletics come to H-Town. Astros stuck on 42 wins until they decide to wake the hell up and play winning 'ball. I think we're currently 42-63 after this sweep.

Rumors abound that the Mets will trade for Troy Tulowitzki but I am on the fence if I want the Mets to trade for him. I'd rather they not have to deal from that arsenal of young SP they have. Tulo is also consistently injured and he has a track record for terrible road vs. home comparison.

I haven't checked the standings in awhile. Heck, I haven't kept up with anything recently. So, when I checked the standings today, man was I shocked. My Yankees being third in the AL East isn't surprising. But my local team, the Rockies, absolutely blew me away. I knew they weren't doing well. But they flat out suck. Wow. I was also was surprised that the Astros weren't dead last in the AL West. The Rangers, come on guys.

After being swept by the Marlins, the Houston Astros took down the Oakland Athletics 7-3 tonight here in Houston. I read the Astros went yard four times in this game. I saw one of those on MLB Tonight on MLB Network- a 3-run blast in the Bottom of... either the 2nd or 3rd inning. Anyhow, no fail for the Astros tonight. We won! Happier times tonight than all of this past weekend. Game 2 of 3 tomorrow.

Congratulations to all others who won on Monday.

Yep. Lost 7 in a row, won 1, now lost 2 more in a row. So we lost another extra innings game and yet another 1 run game. Hoover is terrible this year. Why Price keeps sending him out there, I have no idea. LeCure is our long reliever, so he never should have been taken out. Instead, the guy that Hoover walked made his way in. As everyone knows, walks will haunt, and it was no different tonight.

Overall we still haven't scored more than 3 runs in a game since the All-Star break. I imagine we're bordering on some sort of record if we haven't surpassed it already. I know that Votto and Phillips being out doesn't help, but c'mon. You've gotta score some runs. Even horrible teams will have that one game where they put up a bunch of runs.

Lester scratched from start tomorrow vs. Toronto. Signs are pointing to his trade going down very shortly. All that's known is that he will NOT be in Milwaukee, they are not acquiring him.

I really think Lester will end up in Miami. They need pitching and they have the money.
