Heh. I guess I should have watched the rest of the Reds game. They were down 2-1 in the 5th when I turned the game off. Just checked the score and apparently they loaded the bases in the 9th and won walkoff style with a Scott Schebler 2 RBI double. So that's the first two games of the season where we were down 2-1 going into the late innings and coming back to win it.

Damn Yankees. Did we tick off the Yanks that much for us to lose 16-6 tonight after we won yesterday? To our credit, the Houston Astros did fire the first salvo with a solo jack in the 1st Inning. The Bronx Bombers just blew up in our faces with runs being scored left and right. And ultimately... we failed. Michael Pineda got the win, and Ivan Nova got the Save. Collin McHugh was HOU's loser.

Congratulations to the other winners from today and tonight, including Detroit winning again at Miami and Cincinnati at home taking down Philadelphia.

Swept the redbirds with great pitching but now it time to head to Cinn and make up for getting swept in the opening series last year.

I'd say sorry. But I'm not. Starlin Castro has looked fantastic! The pitching came together. I hope the Yankees can do that all year.

It was tied at 5-5 for a good amount of the game, but it was the Yankees who took down my Astros in the Bronx. So the first series of 2016 is a losing one for the Houston Astros Baseball Club. For NYY, the winner was Chasen Shreve and got a Save from Andrew Miller. HOU's losing pitcher was Will Harris.

Up next for the Houston Astros is Interleague play as we're at the Milwaukee Brewers for the weekend. The New York Yankees, meanwhile, will entertain the Detroit Tigers in MoTown.

Congratulations to all other winners, including the Cincinnati Reds sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies.

What is this? I don't even...The Reds, who are supposed to be terrible this year, somehow start the season off with a sweep. Granted it was the Phillies, the only team worse than the Reds last season, but still. The offense went nuts today, and it wasn't even most of the usual guys. Bryan Price rested Cozart, Mesoraco, and Hamilton while Phillips sat out his second straight game with a stomach bug. Among the notable hits were Bruce's two monstrous home runs and Suarez's first career grand slam. He also homered last night. Barnhart made an amazing slide at home to score off of a Schebler double as well.

Oh, and Robert Stephenson made his Major League debut, allowing 3 earned runs in 5 innings. He was optioned back to Triple A (I believe to allow room for DeSclafani to rejoin the club from the DL) after the game. We're certain to see much more of Stephenson in the future.

Now we get to face the similarly undefeated Pirates. We could come crashing back down to earth. I hope not, but we will see. Win or lose, I'm just happy that the Buccos put the Cards in an 0-3 hole to start the season. :D

Any time you can knock down double-digit strikeouts, that's a great day at the offics for a pitcher.

Unless series began on Thursday, today begins the first of MANY weekend series between now and late September or early October. I mentioned my Astros going to Milwaukee and the Yankees at Detroit. So go ahead and enjoy you some weekend baseball.

Good luck to all of your teams, as always.

Torn ACL, torn LCL, done for the season. Who am I talking about? Kyle Schwarber of the Chicago Cubs. Spare some thoughts for him, and more importantly, wish him well in his recovery. This is BRUTAL for the Cubs to suffer this injury.

Rookie Trevor Story hit ANOTHER two home runs tonight. That brings his total to sixth on the season. More importantly, he's become the first player to ever hit home runs in his four games and only the fifth player since 1900 to homer in each of his team's first four games of a season.

Last night was the Reds I know and love.

We were up 5-2 going into the 8th inning, so things were looking good. However, I forgot who we had in the bullpen (Simon had a very good start BTW). A couple of relievers got 2 outs but managed to load up the bases in the process. In comes Hoover! 🤬! So he only needs to get one out, right? How hard could it be? Well he got the one out...only it came after he gave up a grand slam on his 2nd pitch to the first batter he saw. 🤬!🤬!🤬! Pirates take a 6-5 lead, offense folds, Reds lose by 1.

Wow, the team didn't mention that. :(
Maybe the bearded hipster who runs the interwebs for the Marlins was fired for his facial hair before he could post that Fernandez leads the Marlins starting rotation with a 7.94 ERA.:D

Dolph Drago's Reds kicked some Pirate booty today. 5-1 was the score in Cincy at beautiful Great American Ballpark (and one of my personal favorite Major League Baseball ballparks). It was a win for Raisel Iglesias for CIN. Gerrit Cole was Pittsburgh's losing pitcher. So the Reds and Pirates will have themselves a Rubber Game tomorrow for this series.

CC Sabathia looked pretty good for the Yankees in an 8-4 win over the Tigers in a cold game in Detroit. A-Rod belted his first home run of the season and Carlos Beltran added another. Starlin Castro got his 1,000th career hit as well.

I didn't even realize today was a day game. :embarrassed: Oh well. Glad to see we won.

Tonight's Sunday Night match involves the New York Yankees at the Detroit Tigers. This is the Rubber Game of this weekend series between the Yanks and Tigers. Tonight's pitching duel in MoTown involves Masahiro Tanaka for NYY going up against Justin Verlander for DET. Both teams have three wins each, but only one will notch their fourth win of the season.

Enjoy this Sunday's games, and good luck to all of your teams.

Looks like Mother Nature spoiled tonight's match between NYY at DET. Meanwhile, my Astros still have yet to win a series. We lost 3-2 at Milwaukee today. The loss for HOU went to Dallas Keuchel. The win for MIL went to Jimmy Nelson along with a Save from Jeremy Jeffress.

After two straight road series, our third series will be the first home series. We're hosting a familar foe for four. How familiar? It was the team we failed to in last season's ALDS... that went on to win the championship. That's right- Kansas City Royals at Houston Astros starting Monday night. Defending champs coming down to H-Town.

Congratulations to the other winners from today, including Philadelphia's series win at the New York Mets.

I don't understand what's going on this season, but I'm liking it. After winning yesterday, the Reds finished off their series with the Pirates with another victory over them today. So here we sit, at 5-1, ready to head to Chicago to take on the similarly 5-1 Cubbies.

I don't know what I'm most impressed by at the moment. The pitching (Hoover mess aside)? Suarez? Bruce? It was a good opening week for us. I hope to see it continue.

Pirates team .289 AVG and .387 OBP are great but leaving 59 LOB and a .183 RISP is unacceptable. 4-2 is good but these kinds of losses are the things that cost teams division titles.

Day game today in Detroit in a 2-2 home/home series followed by 3 at home vs Mil and then a big road trip to SD,Ari,and Col.

I'll tell you what... Trevor Story's pretty beast. If all this guy can do is jack balls out of the ballpark, Story might just be like the NL West version of Giancarlo Stanton. Hey- imagine a Miami vs. Colorado series with Stanton and Story going at it. That should be fun.

The Houston Astros enjoyed home cooking to the fullest by handing the defending champs (Kansas City Royals) an 8-2 beating in the Astros' home opening series. Collin McHugh picked up the win for HOU, and Chris Young was the losing pitcher for KC. This is a four-game series between KC at HOU.

Congratulations to the other winners of Monday, including Baltimore remaining undefeated so far (6-0) after beating the Boston Red Sox in Boston.

Brandon Finnegan had a no-no through 6 2/3 innings last night against the Cubs before giving up a hit. He was pulled after walking the next batter. Naturally, the bullpen promptly gave up 2 runs to make it a 3-2 game, but still a Reds lead...for 1 inning at least. Our bullpen continued to implode as we proceeded to give up 3 more runs in the 8th. As the starting rotation starts to come back from the DL, I can only cross my fingers that it will lead to a stronger pen, moving the current starters there. The starters have been tremendous through the first week of the season.

So the Cubbies took Wrigley's season home opener, much to the chagrin of us Reds fans. It's still tight at the top of the NL Central with Chicago at 6-1, Cincy and Pitt at 5-2, St. Louis (despite getting swept to start the season) sitting at 4-3, and Milwaukee bringing up the rear at only 3-4.

The Tigers responded to an ass whooping by the Pirates by whooping their asses next game. The final score today was 8-2 Detroit.
