Sunday Night Baseball tonight is here in H-Town. It's Owens (BOS) vs. Feldman (HOU) as Boston and Houston play the Rubber Game of this series.

Elsewhere, we have series like Detroit trying to avoid getting swept at home by Cleveland and Cincinnati trying to get a series split hosting the Chicago Cubs.

Enjoy some baseball today and tonight.

So in the series against the Cubs, the Reds scored 0 (no-hit), 1, 13!, and 0 runs. Seems about right.
And then they go into New York and lose 2 straight. Also, Billy Hamilton lost a foot race to Bartolo Colon.

"Houston Astros: 2017 World Series Champions"

Ahead of schedule in 2015. So far in 2016... disappointment. We're stuck on six wins and got our butts handed to with an 11-1 beating in Seattle last night. Hell, even the Chicago White Sox have improved. This season so far is looking like a Major League Baseball version of my Houston Rockets- great season last season, stumbling start the following season. I sure hope the Astros turn things around in a hurry unless they want to fight for their lives trying to get an AL Wild Card. I don't want to see another Astros team with a win total south of 60.

Regardless, enjoy the Wednesday action. San Diego at San Francisco's going on at present.

Mets finish off 3 game sweep. They have won 9 of their last 10 and 6 in a row. Look to continue hot streak as the Giants come for a 3 game series to end the month.

The slow-starting 2016 Houston Astros prevented getting swept in Seattle last night by winning 7-4. Collin McHugh picked up the win for HOU. SEA's loser was Hisashi Iwakuma. We're off today, but tomorrow starts a three-game weekend series for us at Oakland. The 2016 Astros are currently 7-16.

Enjoy some Thursday baseball.

Yep. Hopefully they won't end the streak on Saturday cause I'm going to the game :nervous:

Tigers managed to win last night. Sanchez didn't suck either which was nice since he's been horrible so far this year.

As for Gordon, that's 80 games less he's playing this year.

The Mets just scored a club-record 12 runs in one inning against the Giants. Wow.

The Miami Marlins were having themselves a no-hitter in Milwaukee, until Don Mattingly pulled Adam Conley in the Bottom of the 8th. Next thing you know it, the Brewers got a hit after the different pitcher bobbled the ball as it was pitched to him. So the no-hitter was broken up. Last I checked, Miami was ahead 5-0, Bottom 8th at the time Conley was pulled.

The New York Mets are scary good. They are having a great season so far, including recently dispatching the visiting San Francisco Giants 6-5. They're doing better than my Astros right now. Then again, seems like everyone is doing much better than the Astros. We recently lost 2-0 at Oakland after losing 7-4 the night before. Stuck on seven wins and proving last season was a fluke compared to this season. It's too early for me to look ahead to Texans football while the Astros keep ending up on the losing side of scores.

Are you sure that ball didn't end up in northern Michigan or even Canada? Good grief! That was a mega blast! Then again, this is Giancarlo Stanton we're talking about...

Bochy said it best. This Mets team is completely different from the one they faced last year early on. Tomorrow (weather permitting) it's Syndergaard vs Bumgarner

Friday- lost 7-4 at Oakland. Saturday- lost 2-0 at Oakland. Today? Win! It was 2-1 as the Astros avoided another sweep. Collaborating on the win was Doug Fister picking up the win and getting a Save from Luke Gregerson. Rich Hill was the OAK losing pitcher.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... we're back home to Minute Maid Park for a couple of series. The next series is a three-game set hosting the Minnesota Twins tomorrow night. Then, we got (I'm assuming) a four-game set at home for next weekend hosting the Seattle Mariners.

Elsewhere...

* In Minneapolis, it was 6-5 as the Minnesota Twins lost to AnthonyD1993 and Joey D's Detroit Tigers. The win for DET went to Mark Lowe, and it was helped with a save from Francisco Rodriguez. Ryan Pressly was MIN's losing pitcher.

* The Chicago White Sox clipped the wings of the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 in Baltimore. Another win for Chris Sale for CHW. For BAL, it was Ubaldo Jimenez who took the loss.

* Nine innings wasn't enough to settle the score in Pittsburgh between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Dolph Drago's Reds got the last laugh with a 6-5 victory in 11 innings. Blake Wood picked up the win for CIN while former San Francisco Giant Ryan Vogelsong took the loss for PIT.

* San Francisco avoided getting swept at the New York Mets by handing the Mets a 6-1 defeat. Madison Bumgarner was SF's winning pitcher while Noah Syndergaard took the loss for NYM.

* Milwaukee enjoyed a fish dinner at home by grilling the Miami Marlins well done with an 14-5 beat down. MIL's winning pitcher was Willy Peralta. MIA's losing pitcher was Tom Koehler.

* The Astros won, so how did the other Lone Star State team do? If you haven't noticed Patrick smiling, that's because his Angels beat Texas 9-6 in Arlington, TX. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim saw Greg Mahle take the win while Tom Wilhemsen took the loss for Texas.

* Nine innings didn't solve anything in Chicago. So one more inning was needed for Atlanta to defeat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 in 10 innings. Atlanta's win was a combination of Arodys Vizcaino's win and a Jason Grilli Save. It was Hector Rondon who picked up the loss for the Cubbies.

Congratulations to all other winners from today and tonight.

The Reds tried to make it 7 losses in a row, taking the separate leads in the 6th, 8th and 9th innings with the bullpen blowing the lead each time. The bullpen is truly atrocious. I was looking back through all the games this season, and the last game the bullpen DIDN'T give up a run was the sixth game of the season all the way back on April 10th! That's a span of 19 consecutive games that they've allowed at least 1 run. That doesn't even seem possible, but they've managed to pull it off. I guess all I can say is at least they still won the game today.

Mets get back in the groove, hit 3 HR in the first inning and it holds up for a 4-1 win over Cold-Lanta.. "Big Sexy" Bartolo Colon threw 8 scoreless innings.

Make it 20 games for this hellacious bullpen. Yes, 20 straight games giving up at least 1 run. Another meltdown.

This time we actually got to Cueto (lord knows how) for 6 runs in the 3rd to take a 3 run lead. SF had scored 3 runs in the 2nd, but Finnegan settled down and pitched well after, leaving the game after the 6th with a 6-3 lead. The bullpen promptly allowed the Giants to score 5 runs in the 7th, and added another in the 9th to top things off. Reds lose 9-6...

Dallas Keuchel was undefeated at home for the Houston Astros Baseball Club last year. Tonight, "Kid Keuchy" took a loss. He hasn't lost a home decision since August 2014. The Minnesota Twins put a 6-2 hit on my Astros with the win going to Jose Berrios. Both teams now have the same record- 8-18. We suit up and play ball again tomorrow night here in H-Town. The probables for tomorrow night's game are Alex Meyer of MIN vs. Collin McHugh for HOU.

Elsewhere...

* The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without pitcher Josh Ravin because Ravin got docked 80 games for the use of performance enhancing drugs. I read this is the sixth PED suspension doled out this season. Do some of these people not know of certain banned substances?

* My best wishes are with "Kung Fu Panda" as Pablo Sandoval will have possibly season-ending surgery.

Congratulations to all winners from Monday, including a rout by the Chicago Cubs at the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Heading into tonight's matches, here is how all the teams are doing so far:

--- AMERICAN LEAGUE ---
AL EAST: Boston (15-10), BAL (14-10), TB (11-13), TOR (12-15), NYY (8-15)
AL CENTRAL: Chicago White Sox (11-8), DET (14-10), KC (13-12), CLE (10-12) MIN (8-18)
AL WEST: Texas (15-11), SEA (14-11), OAK (13-14), LAA (12-14), HOU (8-18)

NL CENTRAL: Chicago Cubs (18-6), PIT (15-11), STL (13-13), MIL (10-15), CIN (10-16)
NL WEST: San Francisco (14-13), LAD (13-13), COL (12-13), ARI (12-15), SD (10-16)

What do you make of these standings so far? You know, besides my Astros going back to their "Lastros" days? Just remember- this is April. You can't win the championship or make the playoffs in April.

As an off-topic and lighthearted note, I noted how much I enjoy listening to "Doc" Emrick in the NHL Hockey 2015-2016 thread. Watching ESPN's "Highly Questionable," I saw a video clip with Vin Scully talk about the history of beards during the Rays at Dodgers series. I love Vin Scully. Fabulous at play-at-play.

Anyhow, enjoy the new series and good luck to all of your teams.

[UPDATE] I COMPLETELY forgot Cleveland! Terribly sorry I am! Edits made.

I didn't expect the White Sox to lead the AL Central at any point of the season. I also didn't expect the Royals to be around .500 because I figured they'd be leading the AL Central by now. Tigers are at least above .500 so I'm pretty happy with that.

From mlb.com after tonight's game:

"Reds reliever Caleb Cotham was close to escaping a jam when Brandon Belt was thrown out trying for second base on a single to left field. Cotham intentionally walked Brandon Crawford to face Kelby Tomlinson with runners on first and third base. Tomlinson bounced a slow roller to shortstop Ivan De Jesus Jr., who had no time to make a throw as Hunter Pence scored. Gregor Blanco followed with an RBI single to right field that made it a two-run game.

That gave the Reds bullpen a single-season record of 21 straight team games with at least one run allowed, snapping the previous record held by the 2013 Rockies."

All I can say is LOL!

Just when I praise the Tigers today, they proceed to have their asses kicked by the Indians again.

The loser of tonight's Minnesota at Houston game would temporarily have the worst record in the American League. It was the Houston Astros who prevailed with a 6-4 victory. The win went to Collin McHugh along with a Save from Luke Gregerson. Minnesota's losing pitcher was Alex Meyer. A win for the Astros in tomorrow's Rubber Game will mean the Astros will finally have double-digit wins as well as a series win before Tampa Bay comes to H-Town for the weekend.

We didn't fail! If your team(s) didn't fail either on this Tuesday, congratulations to you!

Well the Reds won 7-4. The bullpen also continued their record of futility by allowing a run for the 23rd straight game. They were thisclose to ending their streak today. They made it to 2 outs in the 9th before allowing back to back doubles to bring in a run. I want to see how far they can take this record! :dopey:

Just tell them to hit 4 straight batters every game.

Steven Matz has only one ugly start. Remove that and he's 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA. He went 7.2 innings today, 2 hits and 8 K as the Mets stomped on the Braves 8-0.

Meanwhile here in Houston... Evisceration. Exorcism. Annihilation. Demolition. Call it what you want, but the Houston Astros won this MIN-HOU series with authority: 16-4. Four squared for you Math majors. So we were four times better than the Twins on this night. It was Scott Feldman who got the win for HOU. The loser for Minnesota was Phil Hughes.

For Houston, this is the first-ever time we notched back-to-back wins as well as finally reaching 10 wins. It took us 28 games to reach 10 wins, when it took us only 17 games to reach 10 wins last season. This is certainly a feel-good night if you're an Astros fan.

Up next... we'll be hosting the Tampa Bay Rays for a four-game set for this Mother's Day weekend.

Congratulations to all other winners from today and tonight, including the Cincinnati Reds banging four jacks at home to defeat San Francisco and the New York Mets blanking the Atlanta Braves at home big time.
