The new D-Backs road uniforms are the worst thing I have ever seen.

MLB TV got smart and gave us the Dodgers feed for this game at least, so that's a plus.
"The flying horse looked like an octopus."

Vin Scully. All hail Vin Scully.

Oh, I think Vin Scully is one of the most fabulous voices in all of sports. Still going strong. By the way, congrats to your Detroit Tigers on their win earlier today hosting Pittsburgh.

Baltimore was defeated for the first time last night (now 7-1). Both Atlanta and Minnesota are still winless at present. ATL is currently 0-8 while MIN is currently 0-9 (lost today 3-1 vs. Chicago White Sox). My Astros? We're on the skids at 3-6 and have lost back-to-back games hosting Kansas City. How is/are your team(s) doing so far?

Oh, and one last note... those Diamondback uniforms from the other day are indeed horrible. My Astros will play against the D-Backs in late May and in June, so I won't be making too many insults or rants on the dark gray outfits.

Just remember- this season just started. Don't worry too much about things until about maybe mid-season or midway between the mid-season and the season coming to an end. So good luck to all of your teams. Also remember- you can't win the championship in April. Plenty of season left to turn things around.

Atlanta went kaboom vs. Washington, losing 6-2. Both teams are fighting for the #1 pick and I would say Atlanta will get it because unlike Minnesota, Atlanta has no good prospects that will be coming up this year.

Speaking of the Astros... we lost again. This time- 6-2 to the defending champion Kansas City Royals. Right now, the answer to "can we do it again?" is seeming like a resounding "no" as we're stuck on three wins and losers of three straight series. 2015 seems like a fluke season compared to the 2016 season so far. This is still a new season, but it is already looking like midnight is striking on the Houston Astros Baseball Club, and it won't be too long until they return to being in rags. That is, unless the Astros can remember how to play winning baseball and play like a winning team...

The Yankees are off to a 4-4 start, which means they are in a three way tie for second in the AL East with the Jays and the Red Sox. The problem is that we've dropped two in a row to the Jays. A-Rod is slumping. Not that surprises me. I'll be happy when he's retired. It's still to early to tell how the season will go, but hopefully the first eight games aren't any indicator of how the rest of the season will be for my beloved Yankees.

The AL as a whole should be bunched up because there isn't really a terrible team in the league. Even Minnesota cannot be looked at as terrible although now they do look overmatched.

The Reds are coming back down to Earth. Can't hit with runners in scoring position and Hoover sucks more than the vacuum cleaner that is his last name.

You're absolutely right. Looking at the standings, everybody is bunched up. I hadn't noticed it before. Should make some exciting baseball this season.

Which winless team do you all think will get a win first, Minnesota or Atlanta?

Minnesota. They could get a win this weekend.

Atlanta has a shaky rotation, very few players of any value as hitters (walk Freeman and there isn't anyone else to preach about), and the bullpen has proven to be very porous.

Minnesota. Atlanta isn't playing good ball at all, like Blitz said.

I know I'm going to get yelled at for this, but I never liked Jackie Robinson day. He wasn't the first black man to play in MLB. That honor goes to William Edward White. He did pass himself off as white. So I guess that's a iffy comparison. But then there is Moses Fleetwood Walker of the Syracuse Stars of the National League in 1884. Here's Walker, back row, far right.

I've heard the argument that Jackie paved the way to true integration in MLB, and that's partly true. He did change the people's idea on segregation, thus paving the way for more and more ethnicities to be accepted into baseball. But he was far from the first. I can think of Cubans and Columbians that came before Jackie.

Yes, he made waves and changed the game. But he was far from the first to play, like he's proclaimed to be and honored as such.

And if we're going to honor him for breaking the color barrier, why don't we honor the first Asian, the first Latin, the first Muslim and so forth.

Which winless team do you all think will get a win first, Minnesota or Atlanta?

The way I see it the Braves have 2 chances to win a game this month. This Sunday against the Marlins, if Jhoulys Chacin can pitch like he did against the Nats last Tuesday they have a chance, and next weekend when Julio Teheran's spot comes up against the Mets. The only reason I give them a very, very small chance in that game is because Teheran's problem has been giving up home runs and the Mets have only hit 2 so far. Both of these are big ifs, but if it happens the Braves could steal a victory 2-1, or 1-0.

Minnesota. They could get a win this weekend.

Atlanta has a shaky rotation, very few players of any value as hitters (walk Freeman and there isn't anyone else to preach about), and the bullpen has proven to be very porous.

Freeman isn't hitting either going into tonight he is 2-25 (.080).

It appears that its only going to get worse because the speculation is that both Freeman and Teheran are going to be gone by the trade deadline. Most Braves fans that I've heard seem to think that this team will easily break the 1962 Mets' record of 120 losses, and wouldn't be surprised if they better the all time record of 134 by the 1899 Cleveland Spiders.

The first home weekend series for the Houston Astros Baseball Club this season begins with a win. It was a 1-0 win for the Houston Astros against the Detroit Tigers. I find 1-0 games to be tense. It means your team scored while the other didn't, not to mention scoring only one run. So it's a close win as well as a shutout win. Mr. Dallas Keuchel was the winner who got a Save from Luke Gregerson. For Detroit, it was Mike Pelfrey who took the loss. Oh and by the way, the only run scored in the game was in the first inning by the Astros.

So far this season, it's been "win the first game of the series, then ultimately lose the series." Here's hoping the Astros can finally win a series this season. Even better if we sweep.

Congratulations to the other winners from Friday, and welcome both Atlanta and Minnesota to the winners club with their respective wins. Winning feels good, doesn't it?

No matter which team wins, the state of California will win. Thing is... which team from the Golden State will win- the boys from NorCal (San Francisco), or the boys from SoCal (Los Angeles Dodgers)? That will be tonight's Sunday Night Baseball match pending any weather issues or anything. The pitching probables are Jeff Samardzija (SF) vs. Kenny Maeda (LAD). The NL West is in vogue and on display tonight.

Enjoy this Sunday's games, baseball fans.

No team in baseball has less than 3 wins. Coming into this weekend, 2 teams were winless. Both the Minnesota Twins and the Atlanta Braves have 3 game winning streaks going into next week. Atlanta swept away Miami today to move to 3-9 on the year. Minnesota swept the Angels, today's win coming in a 3-2 12 inning affair.

Elsewhere, LHP Steven Matz made everyone forget his 1.2 inning 7 ER outing last Monday. He struck out 9 and only allowed 5 baserunners over 7 IP as the Mets took down the Indians 6-0, to win their first series of the year.

After dropping successive series to start the season, we finally win one! The Houston Astros hung five runs on Detroit, and all Detroit could muster was four unanswered runs. So we won 5-4 here in Houston. He didn't throw a no-hitter (like last year), but M. Fiers picked up the win and got a Save from Luke Gregerson. Anibal Sanchez was the losing Detroit pitcher. The Astros took 2 out of 3 in this series.

Up next... we take a day off and get ready to start the Silver Boot series against our rivals and AL West rivals, the Texas Rangers. The series is in Arlington. Lone Star State pride is on the line for yet another season.

Congratulations to Sunday's other winners, including Atlanta and Minnesota both winning in extra innings, sweeping their respective opponents' series.

As I just saw this tweeted out:
Nice to see the Cincinnati Reds honor Prince by being found dead at home

Congrats to Arrieta. A no-no against this Reds team isn't exactly a surprise, but it's still impressive to no-hit any Major League team.

Are you kidding me? 16-0? No hitter? The Cubs just destroyed the Cincinnati Reds in their house. Wow. That's much worse than when my Astros lost in a Perfect Game at San Francisco years ago, and we lost that one 10-0. Speaking of my Astros, we're currently losing- 7-2, Texas, Bottom of the 7th as of this post.

Congratulations to the other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

Tigers became roadkill and were absolutely killed by Cleveland today. My uncle asked if we wanted tickets since he went, and my dad said no. He's happy he didn't buy tickets now.

Wow... not a good day for the Detroit Tigers at lovely Comerica Park (one of my favorite ballparks). 10-1 spanking by the visiting Cleveland Indians. Ouch. Hope you guys in MoTown can avoid getting swept tomorrow.
