They don't even need to be told to do that. They do it naturally.
Like tonight. Only have 1 inning to give up a run and they decide to give up a moonshot. I think they want this record.

I was joking with my dad before the inning that they'd put Hoover in, which would guarantee a run. Sure enough it went exactly that way. I think it's up to 24 games now. Just...wow...

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros. Result: 6-3, Seattle Mariners. Nick Vincent won for SEA and got a Save from Steve Cishek. For HOU, it was Luke Gregerson who took the loss. We suit up and play ball again tomorrow night.

Congratulations to all other winners, including the Toronto Blue Jays turning the Texas Rangers into roadkill in Toronto.

I read that because of Zika Virus concerns, the series to be played in Puerto Rico has been moved to Miami. The series in question was a match between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins.

Enjoy all the weekend series for this Mother's Day Weekend, including (pending certain circumstances) the Sunday Night game with the Boston Red Sox at the New York Yankees. Good luck to all of your teams.

I'm really going that the Yankees can do something at home against the Red Sox. Even a few close games might start to turn the momentum in our favor.

The Reds' bullpen is ending their streak!

This four game set between Seattle at Houston is now tied 1-1 thanks to the Astros winning 6-3. We led early 3-0 followed by about 5-0 until the Mariners hung three on the Astros in the Top of the 7th. The 'Stros managed to win putting on one more run for good measure. Doug Fister picked up the win for HOU, and last night's losing pitcher Luke Gregerson got a Save tonight unlike last night. The loser for SEA was Taijuan Walker.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday, including the Yankees finally taking down Boston for the first time this season. And by the way- David Ortiz ("Big Papi") in that game got hosed in the Top of the 9th on an awful Strike call that was called a Ball. That was a bad call even if you are playing favorites.

How I feel about the current state of affairs that is the Tiger's

Even though they are playing like crap right now I can't give up on them. At least it's only May, but every loss now makes it that much harder at the end of the season if you're vying for a Wild Card or Division win.

Firing Ausmus won't change the fact that the bullpen is swiss cheese, the "power" offense is about as powerful as a Yugo right now, and the starters apart from Zimmerman are getting paid millions to put runs up for the other team.

You're never too old to bang a home run. 42-year old Bartolo Colon went yard with a 2-run jack at San Diego. The age of 42 is the oldest age in which someone hit their first home run. If that wasn't ballin', then add to the fact he was the winning pitcher in the Mets winning 6-3 at San Diego today. Great day at the office today for this guy and his team.

...and here in Houston, we couldn't handle our business with Seattle in nine innings, so we need one more... to fail. 3-2, Mariners, 10 innings. The Mariners' winner was Steve Cishek, and adding to the Astros' s:censored:ty start to 2016 was Tony Sipp taking the loss for HOU. Seattle playing for either a series win or a split depending on how tomorrow goes here in H-Town.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday, including the San Francisco Giants winning 2-1 over the Colorado Rockies in 13 innings in San Francisco.

Guys, shut down the MLB, it's peaked

Seriously. First the behind the back throw to first base, then he outruns Billy Hamilton to first base and now this??

He's undoubtedly the most loved Met right now, right after Syndergaard

Definitely my favorite Met

Watching Big Sexy go yard might be the one of the best things I see all season.

I don't really think Ausmus is to blame, I think Al Avalia is more the issue. Agreeing to pay guys like Pelfrey and Upton the amount of money we did given their performance was dumb. Essentially we are in too deep financially with a still fairly depleted farm system, it's going to take some time before the Tigers bounce back. My only hope is that we trade away some big contracts at the trade deadline and restock our farm system.

I am judging Colon based on the other almost impossible hit by a Mets pitcher.

Compare it to this:

vs. this

Tigers Bullpen choked in Tiger's Bullpen fashion and gave up a grand slam. Seems like both Detroit and Cincy think that being a reliever means you have to give runs to the other team to earn a paycheck every week.

Old big dudes hitting a home run. Got to love baseball. One person on YouTube even commented that Colon's jack was like Prince Fielder stepping up in the batter's box. I usually think of former pro wrestler Kevin Nash when I hear "Big Sexy" (or Big Daddy Cool Diesel). But man... you got to show some love to Bartolo Colon after that feat yesterday.

Anyhow... on to my Houston Astros. We managed to split the SEA at HOU series today as my Astros got a 5-1 win here in Houston. Our winner was Collin McHugh while SEA's loser was Hisashi Iwakuma.

Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club... I forgot about Cleveland when I first posted a standings update recently. Coming on down to H-Town... the Cleveland Indians.

Congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post. How did your boys do today/tonight?

Recently ended... the Chicago Cubs keep on ballin'. 4-3 victory for the Cubbies in 13 innings thanks to a walk-off homer by Javier Baez. 418-foot jack out of Wrigley Field. The Cubs are now 24-6 on the season. Travis Wood picked up the win for CHC, and Blake Treinen was the loser for WAS.

Elsewhere...

* From the highest of highs... to the lowest of lows. The Arizona Diamondbacks swept the Atlanta Braves on the road with a 5-3 win in 11 innings. Can you believe the Atlanta Braves have a home record of 1-15 after this loss? I bet the Braves can't wait to move into their new stadium. Randall Delgado was the ARI winner and got a Save from Brad Ziegler. For the hapless ATL Braves, it was a loss for Jim Johnson.

* Mentioned earlier, Detroit lost at home 8-3 to the Texas Rangers. The deciding factor was a late Grand Slam by the Rangers. Tom Wilhelmsen was the winner for Texas. Losing for DET was Mark Lowe.

* The Milwaukee Brewers won 5-4 at Cincinnati. The win for the Brew Crew was a win for Capuano and Jeremy Jeffress. For the Cincinnati Reds, Ross Ohlendorf was the loser.

* It was 6-5 in Miami as the Philadelphia Phillies took down the Miami Marlins. PHI's winning pitcher was Hector Neria, and the Save went to Jeanmar Gomez. David Phelps was Miami's losing pitcher.

Those were some of the other games I wanted to touch up on for this post.

Don't worry, if the Tigers' pen keeps producing like they did today, they'll be competing with the Reds as worst bullpen in no time.

Man the Cubs are tearing it up. They got a taste of postseason experience last year and now they are definitely hungry for more.

Thank God the Mets only play them twice this season. :scared:

I was poking around on baseball-reference.com and came across this. On this day in 1984, the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers played a game that lasted 8 hours, six minutes, and 25 innings. The Chicago White Sox won that game 7-6. Can you imagine a game lasting THIS long and with THIS many innings? I was curious about the most innings played in a Major League Baseball game. What was crazy was that today was the day that the game I mentioned in this post happened.

The Sox have a history of long games. Check out game 3 in the World Series against the Astros. 5 hours and 14 minutes!

A couple of odd facts about that Sox/Brewers game is that the game was suspended after 18 inn and resumed the next day. Tom Seaver who was scheduled to start the game May 9th pitched the final inning of the May 8th game and was credited with the win after pitching 1 scoreless inning. He then started the next game going 8 1/3 3h,4r and was the winner in a 5-4 Sox win.
